Re: The Library: A Study Table
Only cause it seems fitting, Remus can start out here in the library...doing what he's good at: reading.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Percy walks into the library with a stack of books, and sits down at a nearby table, completely immersed in what looks to be a terribly boring history of wizarding governments in the Middle East. Good grief, Percy. -shakes head-

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Raphael escaped the hub-bub of the great hall, and made it to the Library before collapsing dully into a chair, heaving. Damn this sickness. He let himself rest for a bit before walking to the section of the Library that detailed sickness and cures. He grabbed a new book off the shelf, and sat at a study table across from a ginger kid, leafing through the pages.
Re: The Library: A Study Table
Percy looks up and sees a Ravenclaw sitting opposite him. "Hello there," he said politely, forcing a rather stiff smile at the newcomer, deciding to try for once not to be socially awkward.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Raphael smiled back at the ginger boy thinly, because he was tired and in a bit of a grump. "Hello. Raphael Whiteraven." he held his right hand out over the brim of his book. "Y'all have a lovely library."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
Percy shook his hand and placed his own book down. "Percy Weasley. A pleasure to meet you," he said rather formally, curious at this newcomer, who was so obviously not from around here. "I heard there was a new student from America, but I was also told they were from up North, which you clearly are not. Did you just transfer here?" he asked.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Raphael grimaced. "Oh hell no, i'm not the Yank. Hope our paths never cross. I'm from Louisiana, and i didn't transfer. I'm here to work in the Hospital Wing, an internship program with my brother." he stared at Percy's tie. "He's in your House, actually, Gabriel. He's hard to miss, all brawny and tall."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
Percy notes the distaste with which Raphael speaks of the transfer student, but thinks nothing of it. He'll have enough reason to hate Caradoc later. "An internship? That sounds nice," he said, rather impressed. "No, I'm afraid I haven't met your brother, but I shall keep an eye out for him. The hospital wing, you said? So you'll be a healer in training. Interesting," he said, and he meant it, too. "I'm a seventh year, and I hope to have an internship at the ministry this summer. I'm rather looking forward to it."

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Raph nodded. "That's your government here right? We have a type of monarchy in the States, down South anyway." he shook his head. "It can get chaotic sometimes."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
[Bah, I don't really think I want to start any more scenes, I'm starting one with Luna and I'm going to bed soon, sorry! I LOVE YOU! TOMORROW!!11]
"Yes, the Ministry of Magic is in charage in the UK," he said, rather curious as to America's government. "A monarchy? Really? Quite interesting. I would have thought you'd have more of a democracy, given your muggles' government. I'm afraid I'm rather out of touch with my history of the Americas; most of my research tends to revolve around Europe. I have full intentions of going into International Relations, however, so it would be best if I increased my knowledge of the subject."

Re: The Library: A Study Table
-is bullshitting stuff-
"Well, down South we have a monarchy. We're ruled by the most powerful and prominent family at the time, and they're ruled by the most powerful witch. We call her the voodoo queen, since we base ourselves out of New Orleans." he turned another page. "Right now we're ruled by one of the most powerful families the America's have seen." his voice had a touch of pride in it.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Percy looked increasingly interested, and pushed his horn rimmed classes further up his nose, his flaming red hair rather too tidy, unlike his brothers' which was always a hot mess. "Really? Do tell me more, Raphael," he said, impressed with the fact he hasn't made himself look like a total freak or something yet.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Raphael fidgeted. This was hitting close to home. "Well, each Voodoo queen has her children or family members in charge of various organisations or offices, and grooms her heir. Each Heir has a body guard, usually an older sibling, and both are given the Family Legacy when they come of age." He thought of his wand, hidden in it's sheath. "They're very old, very powerful magical items, and it's basically a symbol of blessing and cements the choice of the Queen."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Wow. We have nothing like that here, really. It's similar to the muggle Parliament, in most ways. Elected officials, and the such. Nothing quite so regal sounding as all of that," he added, still rather intrigued.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Raphael coughed harshly, and then grimaced again. "It sounds peachy, but in reality it's not so orderly. The Family is as strong as the Queen and her Direct line. And well, sometimes you get the whole assassination and blackmail thing going on...among other things. It's a mess, really."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Oh my, are you alright?" he asked, noting how terrible the man's cough was. "Do you need some help? Here, have a drink," he said concernedly, passing him a bottle of water. "I was leaving in a moment for class, did you need me to help you to the hospital wing or something? You look rather ill," he said with a frown.

Raphael waved him off. "No no, it's fine. Nothing that can be done to help it, i've had it for so many years...usually Gabriel is here to give me my medicine though, so all i need to do is hunt him out. Thanks anyway, though."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Alright, if you're sure," he said tentatively, collecting his books. "It was truly nice to meet you. I look forward to speaking with you more at length some time, but I am afraid I have classes to attend. I will see you around, Raphael," he said with a polite nod and wave as he took off towards his class.

Hermione is here, studying on the first day of classes, her books spread all over. Her head is bent over her parchment and her quill scratches diligently at her parchment.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Luna walks into the library because she is a Ravenclaw after all. Her face lights up when she sees Hermione in here, just like she hoped she would be. She walks over and quietly sits down next to her friend. "Hey Hermione," she says softly with a big grin on her face.
Re: The Library: A Study Table
Hermione frowns at the interruption, because she comes here to get away from the distractions usually associated with attempting to study in the Common Room. When she looks up, though, her expression changes into a small smile. "Hi Luna," she says quietly. She is in a Library after all, and has a great respect for that fact. "Good summer? I missed you on the train, I suppose you were somewhere quiet, reading?"
