Re: Against the Wall
"You're such a sweet girl," Jack comments, but he smiles because actually, she really is even with all the one-liners she drops. "I guess the Slytherins just don't know how to have a good time. Their loss. Well, we'll just have to keep each other company," he offers, gesturing to a nearbly table with some chairs. He will ask Angelina to dance when the floor is a little more full - nobody ever wants to be the first couple up there.

Re: Against the Wall
Angelina grins. "Well, they're probably off making trouble or sucking up to Professor Snape somewhere. And me, keeping you company? I suppose I could manage that..." She adds, taking a seat at the table Jack indicated. Will Angelina dance? I do not know... I haven't really decided whether she can or not yet, so I should do that soon.

Re: Against the Wall
Jack laughs. "Probably. Or skulking around the dungeons. I bet Slytherins just love to skulk, they seem like big skulkers. I'm going to go ahead and flatter myself that you'd rather hang around with me than with a bunch of skulkers," he grins, mentally tallying how many times he's managed to bring skulking into the conversation in a five second timeframe. He hopes Angelina will dance with him, but if she doesn't he'll be happy enough just to hang out because he still gets to talk to her.

Re: Against the Wall
Angelina laughs too. "Did you really need to say 'skulk' that many times?" She asks, saying it a few times in her head. It does sound amusing, but saying that many times is a bit of overkill. And she might - I don't know. She's never been asked to dance before...

Re: Against the Wall
Jack shrugs. "It's a cool word, I've decided I like it. I could try some others out if you like - lurking, loitering, creeping, prowling, for example. But none of them have that alliteration that comes with skulking. Skulking Slytherins. You have to admit it's got a bit of a ring to it," he points out with a grin. Well, this party might just be the time when all that changes for Angelina.

Re: Against the Wall
Angelina smiles, using her spare hand to tuck a piece of flyaway hair behind her ear. "It has, I have to admit." She smiles. Seeing how few people are here, she is still contemplating it in the back of her mind as she and Jack talk.

Re: Against the Wall
Jack watches Angelina's hand as it tucks her hair back, smiling. "Good," he says, because he likes when Angelina agrees with him. "So how has quidditch practice been? I bet it's not half as much fun without your star pupil," he says. "Maybe slightly more productive, though," he has to admit after a beat.

"Well, we've only had a few practices since I saw you last - some of the team got sick, so we had to cancel a couple. I managed to avoid it, though, so I practiced anyway - it was definitely not as much fun, but more productive, than our little lesson, that's for sure." Angelina replied, grinning. "And they never end quite as well as our lesson did," she adds, blushing a little. Again. God, Angelina really can blush.

Re: Against the Wall
Jack is glad to hear Angelina avoided sickness, by the way. "Well, I've got to have some kind of edge over all those other quidditch enthusiasts, right?" he smiles, also very glad to hear that he provides the best training session conclusions around. "Shame I had some essays to get a start on, though - I'd've happily kept you company if I knew you were out there by yourself at times. Which brings us back to the productivity issue, but that can't be important every training session, can it?"

Re: Against the Wall
Angelina is glad about that too. "Well, I suppose. All those other boys I've been beating away with my broom..." She says, looking around with a purposely quizzical look on her face. Then she smirks at Jack. "I'm sure you would have - unfortunately, every training session is important. Slytherin train just as hard as us, and we have to keep our edge against them so that we can continue to have some kind of House Pride."

Re: Against the Wall
"I can't tell you what I'm thinking right now," Jack says simply, because the words 'broomstick' and 'beating' and the concept of Angelina being involved in any of the dirtiest connotations of those words, if he is the only other person involved of course, is all very wonderful to Jack. "Oh come on - how can Slytherin even fly, anyway? I always assumed they'd just slide right off their brooms or something," he shrugs, because apparently he is not above knocking other houses.

Re: Against the Wall
There is a beat of silence, and then Angelina gets it. Her hand slips out of his and she smacks herself lightly in the forehead. "Wow, I let myself in for that one, didn't I? But still..." She takes her hand away from her face and hits Jack on the arm. "You should know better, Jack Smith. Or at least have the sense to keep this in your head." Then she blinks, remembering the other part of what he said, and she shrugs. "They can fly, unfortunately, and quite well too."

Re: Against the Wall
Jack chuckles as Angelina catches up to his train of thought, but he rubs slightly at his arm when she smacks him because all those years of quidditch have given her quite a bit of power in the upper body. "You should know by now that my self control doesn't always extend to my brain-to-mouth filter," he points out, though he lifts his hands in surrender. "Alright, alright, I'll behave. Don't want too many bruises, you know."

Re: Against the Wall
Angelina grins, knowing how she is actually stronger than the average girl her age, and silently thanks Quidditch. "I did already know that, but sometimes it can be a good thing. Sometimes..." She stresses, but there is still a grin on her face. She debates, now that her mind is on that topic, whether to make the witty retort which has presented itself in her head. She ponders for a minute, before thinking 'what the hell'. "Depends what kind of bruises they are, doesn't it?" And she smirks again, but this time it's a knowing smirk.

Re: Against the Wall
Jack blinks as Angelina speaks, all responses to her earlier words flying out of his head once she begins to discuss the right kind of bruises. "Angelina Johnson, where have you been all my life?" He stares at her like she's the best thing since sliced bread. Which is saying something, because sliced bread is wonderful.

Re: Against the Wall
Angelina had no idea her response would be so... shocking to Jack. She blinks at him for a minute, completely red, looking as if he just proposed to her or something. "In Gryffindor?" She answers hesitatingly - she knows that really, that was rhetorical. But she feels like she had to answer it.

Re: Against the Wall
Jack throws back his head and laughs. "If I had a galleon for every time I wished I was in Gryffindor..." he trails off, shaking his head. "Guess now I know what they mean when they say sometimes you can be too smart for your own good; that's how I ended up in Ravenclaw."

Re: Against the Wall
Angelina giggles as Jack laughs. "Why have you wished so many times to be in Gryffindor?" She asks, before adding: "Of course. It's obviously because you recognise our superiority as a House at Hogwarts." Then she shakes her head. "Too smart? Now, I don't think that's possible. Maybe it's just your overinflated ego that landed you in Ravenclaw." She quips, much more comfortable now that Jack has appreciated her dirty joke.

Re: Against the Wall
"I like the people is all," Jack explains, his eyes still full of laughter and his mouth still holding his smile. "I seem to get along well with Gryffs. I think you've got it a little backwards though, love - the ones with the overinflated egos are the ones who go to your House, not mine!"

Re: Against the Wall
"If by 'the people' you mean just me, then yes, that answer is acceptable," she giggles as she speaks. "And I think you'll find that any Gryffs with ego's have them because they are good at what they do. Like me playing Quidditch." She adds, nodding to herself and to Jack. She doesn't think of herself having an ego, but supposed that people might think she has one - she figures that it's okay because it's true.

Re: Against the Wall
Jack just winks. Yes, now it is only Angelina that he means when he says he likes the people, but we all know Jack has liked Gryffindors in the past. "And any Ravenclaws who have egos have them because we're just so damned smart," he says lightly. He looks around the room, chuckling. "You know, it's a good thing the night is still young and the party is yet to really take off - we need all the room in here for our egos."

Re: Against the Wall
Well, Angelina still doesn't know that, after all. Not that she should be enlightened quite yet... But still. She's a little clueless. "Sure, sure." She giggles again. "Well, I don't know whether the night is still young or the party is just a bit lame. Whoever started must not have advertised it very well." She ignores his last quip about egos - hers is not that big, perfectly reasonable to have, and a manageable size. Thank you very much.

Re: Against the Wall
She shall stay unenlightened a little longer, methinks. "This is why Hogwarts needs a blog," Jack says, nodding because Angelina may be right for all he knows. "Well, Hogwarts also needs the ability to use the technology that comes along with electricity, computers, and the internet first, but you know what I mean. Noticeboards are just so last millenium."

Re: Against the Wall
I think that's a good idea, to be honest. "Actually, that's a great idea!" She realises, having never thought about that until just now. "Definitely. I mean, I use email a little, but only over the summers. And a mobile. Then again, it might turn into one of those Muggle shows like... What is it called again... Gossip Girl, that's the one! My friends at home were raving about it over the summer. Apparently, all their dirty secrets end up on a blog. I'm pretty sure most of Hogwarts wouldn't want that."
