Also, about the advertising...I agree that it should start before 3.0. I remember it being said that advertising would be done once 2.0 started but it didn't happen. Now, there are enough of us that we could take over Average Wizard with another post again. That's how we got amazing people like Dom and Cissa. Another idea is tumblr. There are so many tumblrs dedicated to Harry Potter with loads of followers. We could kindly ask the owners of those blogs in their ask box if they could promote our site with one little post. I'm sure that would work as well.

I know Pansy made an advertisement post and that actually worked...Even though those people left. But yeah, those are my suggestions. AW and tumblr. I can't think of anything else at the moment.

I searched google a bit a while back, trying to find some other HP related forums that had advertising sections for the purpose of other people posting and promoting other sites. I posted on one or two of them but not much happened with that. People on forums love their forums and aren't very likely to wander off to others. But I think promoting on tumblr is a good idea. There are so many HP crazed people on there, and they're already the sort of people that would get along with us. Generally good grammar, good sense of humor, and addicted to the internet. Three prerequisites for fitting in are already met by them being a HP tumblr fanatic.

Exactly! People on tumblr are huge on grammar, they have the same crazy sense of humor as us, and they're addicted to the internet.
Sounds like our type of people. XD

Ok I've read this all about 3 times, but I get the feeling I'm going to need to reread about 10 more times before everything really sinks in. I'd like to think that it's because it's early in the day for me, but when it gets to lunchtime and my brain is still no quicker I'll have to concede defeat on that point >.>

I just really want to say thanks to everyone who has posted input - it really does help to get perspective on things. And if I've managed to give anyone the impression that I'm not interested in hearing people's ideas and concerns, or that I don't intend to take them seriously, I'm sorry. I honestly do intend to give the best I can to AWF and to make it a happy and functional place for as many people as I possibly can. Please, please know that anyone can post any thoughts or suggestions at any time, or PM me directly, or if you'd feel more comfortable, bring it up with another Mod.

From a practical standpoint, I believe it was Pansy that said it best - a happy medium needs to be reached. I'm going to do everything I can to take on board as much as I can from the forum as a whole because face it, I'm here to do the best I can by you all. I'd be pretty lonely if I was only in it for myself... I'm not always going to get it right, and sometimes I guess I'm not going to win any friends, but I'll try.
But to actually get things happening, sometimes things just need to be done because if we all talked about everything all the time, we'd have a whole lot of talking and no action. So sometimes things just get discussed just between Mods at first, and I'm not going to lie - there will be times where I will be making decisions on my own out of necessity. The Mods and I all try and keep the best interests of the majority at heart when we do things like that, and nothing is ever set in stone - feedback is key to letting us know if we're on the right track, or if we need to take a different angle on things to get the best result.

Now that I've babbled on for what seems like forever, I realise that there's nothing concrete in my post at all, but I'd like to reread everything and absorb it, maybe throw a few ideas around and see what we can come up with that works for people... I just really wanted everyone to know that this suggestions process is important to me.

I don't see why this whole thing can't be discussed with the entire forum. Because while everyone is important, I knew that Mya had created an action plan and assumed that this kind of thing was already being taken care of by the Mods. Of course, opinions can be expressed, but surely the Mod team would be asking opinions if they needed to at this point in time. After all, they're not dictators or anything.

OMG. I just remembered when we first heard about 2.0 and we were clinging to 1.0 like koalas, and you, Ange & I formed a Dictatorship.
And then we realised it would fail because you and I would kill each other, and Ange would get taken down in the crossfire...
