But maybe the males would be brighter, to show healthiness and attractiveness for potential mates. *thinks of birds and their color patterns* The females could be darker to blend in better.

*lightbulb over the head moment* What if we use Muggle technology? If we took DNA samples and tried to figure out which hair sample has the Y chromosome? I read about this in a book for my Muggle Studies class. It would be like criminology and forensics and biology!
