Re: Torchwood!!
Yeah, I was like that after a while - it's like, all this is lovely and interesting, but can we move along to the point now? *is a tad impatient*
I really preferred it the British way too, to be honest. The way they're doing it this season just seems a little bit forced or something.

Still a little confused, but at least it has some context now. This is what i get for posting in the middle of the episode, I suppose. >.>
I think part of the reason I'm so attached to the British version is because of the missing characters.
It's why I rarely rewatch CoE as well. I love Tosh and Owen and Ianto too much.

Re: Torchwood!!
Sort of off topic, but I'm kind of liking the transition from one or two episode storylines to season long epics. It lets them get more involved in the story, and it helps bring out the fact that Torchwood is a DRAMA. As opposed to Doctor Who which is some kind of sci fi adventure family show or however you categorize it. Torchwood was meant to be darker and they can really get into it with longer story arcs. I'm only worried it'll make the show less accessible, so less people will watch it, but I really like that they can get all up in the scariness they were attempted to do the first two seasons.
Sidenote: I think they're trying to move away from Doctor Who. There's no way Miracle Day could exist in the same universe as Doctor Who unless it starts being an issue in Whoville pretty darn soon. I know in 7 they give a little nod back to the Doctor, but I wonder if he'll even have anything to do with Torchwood anymore.
Long post is long.

I read somewhere that they're all pretty keen to have Jack go back and do a guest spot on Doctor Who at some point, if it can all be worked out. But Moffat won't even consider letting the Doctor appear on Torchwood because it is far too adult and dark and dramatic, and they don't really want to take the Doctor out of his own genre to associate him with that. Jack could go back to Doctor Who, though, because that's where he started and he has a niche there- but it would be really interesting to see how they treated what you see of him in Torchwood in a more family-friendly setting, if that ever happened.

Re: Torchwood!!
That's the thing I think - they're not quite cross compatible. The Doctor has been on Sarah Jane, but they'd never put him on Torchwood. But the Torchwood peeps are more cross compatible. And I'm pretty sure John said he wanted to go back too.
I like the epic storylines, but I fiercely miss the old characters, and the relationships they had. I also miss the funny episodes (such as one of my favourites, the second one in S1. -blinks-)

I really dig this series. I actually started watching this before watching DW.

Does anyone know how many episodes there are supposed to be?

Re: Torchwood!!
I'm not 100% sure. *fails*
I was expecting it to be a 5-6 ep type thing like Children of Earth, but then it kept going. Wouldn't imagine it could last too much longer though, there's only so many eps this arc can stretch I guess...

From the Wiki:
So this next one is the last!
It will be broadcast over ten episodes beginning 8 July 2011 (US).

I don't even know what to think right now.
There were tears.
>.>
Oswald is a creepy fucker, but so brilliantly done. All the awards to Bill Pullman there.
And even if the setup was a tad contrived, I am really really looking forward to season 5. I don't much care about the whole 'families' aspect of it tbh, but I cannot wait to see Rex and Jack and Gwen together.

THERE WERE MANY TEARS.
Oswald finally did something good... In a twisted way.
I didn't like it at first, but I have become quite attached to these characters.
I hope S5 is soon, and it'll be awesome.

Re: Torchwood!!
I bet it'll be a 2 year break again, which will piss me off no end.
But then, if they keep producing amazing stuff that leaves me in a sobbing puddle every single time, I can live with the painful waiting.
*pins on 'the girl who waited' badge*
It's a bit crazy how they grew on me. Rex most of all, I think. And Rhys. I can barely even recognise him from season 1, I think...

Re: Torchwood!!
I hated Rhys at first, mostly because I love Gwen and thought she was better that him.
But I have changed my mind.
And as long as it's this good, I will wait a while.
Russell T Davies is awesome.

Re: Torchwood!!
So I guess they're doing Families stuff again next time? I dunno. Don't get me wrong, THERE WERE TEARS. And the whole season was AMAZING. I loved it so much and the ending was amazing and awesome. But I was hoping for a bit more closure and finality, I guess.

Re: Torchwood!!
Yeah, I know what you mean - I would have liked to see the Families thing run its course. It almost seems like they just wanted to make sure they had the hooks for a future season, but Rex provided more than enough of that and I really am more interested in that side of things now.

Rewatching some S2. Namely, Adam.
I have the hugest crush on nerdy!Owen, it's not even funny.
Then again, I have a crush on normal Owen too.
Sogorgeous. >.>

Re: Torchwood!!
Rewatching Children of Earth. I just - gah. I wanted to rewatch it because I loved Miracle Day so much and I wanted to see if I actually hated Children of Earth or if it was just because I wasn't used to that kind of Torchwood. Episode and a half in. None of the scary stuff has happened yet, except for blowing up Torchwood HQ. Now I'm just freaking myself out... <.<

Re: Torchwood!!
I think the main reason I didn't like CoE is the biggest thing I didn't like about Miracle Day...
I got really attached to S1 and 2 and the characters, and watching it without them (or watching them go) in it is hard.
Tosh, Owen... and Ianto...
