He shook his head. "No. Ron isn't lying. It's not as bad for me since I dropped potions this year. I was dreadful at that. Don't even get me started on the writers cramps I get in my hand." He laughed.

"I hate potions," she sighed, still annoyed that she was forced to take it. "My mum seems to think that I'm going to be having some sort of respectable career in which I'll need it, so I'm still taking the class with Slughorn. Little does she know though...that I really technically don't even need any classes."

"Hey, that's a good point! You should totally just fail your N.E.W.T exam." He laughed to show he was joking, that would not be smart at all. "My mum was the same, but I didn't make the grade during the O.W.L's. Not that I'm complaining."

"Right, that'll get mum off my back then," she said with a light laugh. "I mean, other than the fact that Slughorn plays favourites, he isn't that bad. Then again, I'm seeing him from the view of actually being in the Slug Club."

"You're lucky to be a favorite. I used to get so jealous of Harry. But when you spend the whole class laughing at Seamus blowing up everything he tries to make, it's kind of hard to be picked as a favorite." He laughed thinking of all the explosions he's seen in his time here.

"Being part of the Slug Club really isn't that great. The dinners are painful to sit through," she said. She thought of what it would have been like to be in Seamus' class and shuddered at the thought. "It's rather miraculous that you're still here after having been in Potions with Seamus."

He nodded. "The real miracle is that Seamus is still here." He laughed. "He's gotten better, which is good because I don't think my eyebrows could handle another burn. And if I didn't have my looks, I wouldn't have anything." He laughed.

Ginny had witnessed quite a few disgruntled Gryffindors complaining over losing eyebrows or even just being witnesses to one of Seamus' explosions. "Oh that's not all true," she replied with a grin. "I think you have a brilliant personality as well. Everything else is just a bonus," she said, picking up her glass and taking a sip of her drink, hoping to somewhat distract herself so she didn't blush.

Dean grinned widely. He leaned in closer and said "I think you have a brilliant personality too." He leaned back and smiled some more. "And your looks are much better than mine too, so I guess that's a bonus too."

"Well, thank you," she smiled, placing her glass down on the table. "Oh, going for the flattery angle. You're quite the charmer Mr. Thomas," she said, oddly pleased with how this conversation was going. Best not to let Ron know about it. "Do you suppose I ought to still try and stay clear of Seamus?" she asked. "Should I still try and protect my eyebrows and hair?"

He shrugged and tried to act cool. "I do what I can." He smirked. "Well, you shouldn't have to worry about Seamus. Unless you are around him when he's making a potion. In that case, run for your life." He laughed then for some reason remembered something, "Oh! You'll never guess what happened. Neville asked a girl out! He actually did it!"

Ginny made a mental note to run if she ever saw Seamus and a potion in the same room. She was rather glad that she hadn't been drinking her juice or eating when Dean mentioned Neville, for she surely would have choked. Instead, her jaw just dropped open in complete shock. "WHAT!? Neville?! Neville Longbottom?! He did the asking out?"

Dean laughed at her reaction, having done nearly the same thing. "He did! He beat me to it! Heck, I haven't even asked a girl out this entire school year yet. I'm so proud of him. Well, until he told me he thought people waited until marriage to kiss." He roared with laughter remembering that.

"He thought...he thought people waited until marriage...to kiss?" she repeated, the shocked look still present on her face since the whole Neville topic first came up. "Oh bless his heart," she said, soon joining Dean with laughing. "Did you manage to enlighten him that that's not the case at all...or is he still in naive denial?"

He finally stopped laughing. "I tried to explain, then tried to explain how to kiss someone. He got a little...um, we'll go with nervous. Yeah." He nodded. "Poor guy. I feel bad sometimes for laughing. He's just so..clueless. I love him though.."

"I really think that that is a whole new level of cluelessness. I definitely have never heard that line before...not kissing before marriage. It sort of makes you wonder where he gets those kind of ideas. Guess he's never really seen someone kiss before," she said, shaking her head. That idea was rather bizarre, for the school was full of horny teens. Yet...Neville was a special case.

He shrugged. "It must be from his grandma, I don't know who else he would get it from. Certainly not from me, and we've been friends since our first year." He took another sip of his juice. "I'm sure he's seen people kiss, how could he not. This is Hogwarts.."

"Yeah...I suppose from his Grandmother would make the most sense. I wonder what exactly he thinks of everyone that has kissed before marriage. Does he think that we're all going to have failed marriages when older or something?" she mused.

He thought for a moment. "Hmm, I never thought of that before. I mean, I've told him far worse things then kissing. Granted he fainted after, but still, he knows what goes on here. If you're ever bored and Neville is around, say the word 'sex' it's hilarious."

"He fainted?" she repeated, shaking her head slightly. "I honestly feel sorry for him sometimes. I'll keep that in mind though if I need a laugh. I'm sure at some point this year I'm going to," she said before taking a few last bites of her dinner.

"Me too. I'd feel worse if he wasn't so happy in his own little world." He too took the last few bites of his food, realizing they spent most of their conversation talking about Dean's friends. "Well, now I feel bad we have only talked about my friends this whole time. I should be getting to know you, right? That's how new friendships work?" He smiled at her.

"No, don't feel bad! I like hearing about your friends," she replied with a smile. "My friends aren't quite as interesting," she said with a smile. "As much as I'd love to talk about them right now though, I've got practice rather soon. I suppose that just means we'll have to meet up again really soon," she said with a wide grin. Standing up from the table, she gave his hand a gentle squeeze before saying, "See you later Dean!", then leaving the Great Hall.
