"Oh ... er..." Katie suddenly did an awkward whale. She laid there for a while, and then said "I forgot you guys were... friends at the moment."

"It's nothing," James sighed. "He just - it's - nothing." He sat there awkwardly for a while, thinking. Katie seemed rather pleased about the whole prom thing. Did she not realize Sirius wanted Fleur? Well this was going to get a whole lot more awkward. "So uh, go to any fun afterparties?" James didn't. Rose did though. Fun times.

"Nu-uh, Si- I was tired, so I went straight to bed. I didnt see you there! Did you have fun with...?"

[James Potter - Inactive]

"N - Well - er, yeah. Yeah it was fun." Liar. No, LYER. Well fuck it. He was going to forget Fleur. He was he was. He didn't care about her. Nope nope nope.

Katie was walking her eyes misted with tears, she looked up to see she was amongst the willow. Her feet had taken her here and for some reason all she wanted to do was talk to James. But he was not here. She dropped to the floor crying and shaking from what she had just done.

James had been hanging out with the Willow a lot lately. Since he didn't go to the common room anymore, or anywhere Sirius might ever be, the Willow was pretty much the only place to be anymore. It was quiet and alone, and nobody went there. Needless to say he was surprised when he saw Katie there. Taking the last few steps at a bit of a jog, he skidded in next to her, sat down quickly, and put a comforting arm around her. "Katie, what's wrong?"

Katie leaned into James appriciativly, "I-Its Sirius. He is just...." She cut of unable to finish. "Whatever we had its over. And its my fault. I should have seen this coming!"

[James Potter - Inactive]

James stiffened. Sirius. "Listen, Katie, don't pay attention to him. He's... He's not the Sirius I used to know." He was getting tired of people being hurt my Sirius. Mya, himself, now Katie... He hated it. He hated Sirius. James Potter hated Sirius Black, and this is a sentence that should never be typed. It just wasn't right.

"I just do- dont understand. He turn-turned it around so ... so it was my fault! I don- dont know wh-why he'd do that. He was my b-bestfriend." She sobbed, the full extent of it now hurting her. Her heart ached for him to come and say sorry. But then she doubted in herself would she then forgive him. He had gone to far... She looked up at James and it hit her, "Oh gosh... I am so so-sorry, I forgot you were .... a part of this. I am so sorry...."

James shrugged, looking all calm and cool and collected, like he didn't even care about Sirius and Fleur. Because that's how he do. "He's a jackass for doing this to you," he said quietly, effectively turning the subject away from himself. He didn't want to sit there and complain about Fleur and Sirius when Katie was upset like this.

[Katie Bell]

"I don;t know wh-what I did wrong. He wasn't even sorry, h-he kept talking abou-about how he was so flipping h-happy!" She mumbled leaning into James chest.

[James Potter - Inactive]

Of course. Of course Sirius was happy. Of course he'd dump Katie, and be happy. It was the order of things, James supposed. Sirius Black always came out on top. That dickwad. James squeezed her shoulder a little, and tried to find a way to speak without firing a stream of curses at the absent Sirius Black, or breaking down and talking all about Fleur and Sirius and that mess. "Sirius only does anything for himself. He doesn't care about anyone else."

[Katie Bell]

"Shame it took me that long to realise it really," Katie sniffed and sat up straighter, "But I told him that I was done. No more being walked over, no more taking it. I am sick of it. I am sick of being second best. All the time."

[James Potter - Inactive]

What a coincidence, James is tired of being second best, too! THEY HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON. James kind of wanted to give Katie a pat on the back for her realization, but didn't because that would be weird. "Well good," James said, refraining from saying something about how it was good that Sirius would have one less person to treat like a human doormat. "He's not worth it, Katie," he said, not really sure what the "it" was in this instance, mostly just feeling space.

Katie wiped away a tear from her face, "I know he isn't. It was fooled for so long. But no I can see so much more clearly... Thank you for being here for me James" She commented, leaning closer to him. "I really needed you" James could be her Mr Incredible to Elastic girl. Sorry, Lucy is watching The Incredibles.

I love the Incredibles, and also, "WHERE IS MAH SUPERSUIT???" James had a sudden idea. Well, he and Katie were good friends, and they'd been friends for a long time, and he was starting to really like her. So. This was coming anyway. But now with Sirius and Fleur... It was like he and Katie were both a second choice, just... second best. Well, they'd show Flerius. Pell is DAMN AWESOME. So. There. James wasn't quite as buff as Mr. Incredible, but it'll do. He wanted to say something like "No problem" or "Any time" but he had a feeling that wasn't what Katie was looking for. "I hate to see people upset over Sirius," he said bitterly.

[Going out to watch the sunrise. Then might actually get to bed. Pause?]

"Yeah, it does suck..." She commented under her breath studying James carefully. He sure was good looking, and kind and genuine. After everything he was the one that was there for her and comforting her. Not really aware of what she was doing she leant in and pressed her lips to his neck gently.

Damn straight James is good looking. He was surprised when Katie kissed his neck, sending shivers down his spine. And even though the neck is a sensitive spot for dudes (AWF teaches me things!) and he couldn't deny it felt good, he still moved away a little. He didn't want her to do anything she wouldn't normally do, just because she was upset and James was just there. "Katie..." he started, again searching for words. "This isn't right..." Yes, he really liked Katie and was probably going to ask her out anyway, but he didn't want this to happen just because he was there after a fairly traumatic experience.

Katie pulled away slightly, as James did. He was obviously uncomfortable... "So-Sorry. i dont know what came over me. I have to go..." She said quickly. She wiped her eyes and started to walk away.

James watched her walk away, wanting to say something - anything - to make her stay, or to make everything not awkward, or... just say something. But he didn't. He watched her walk away, then got up and left to go back to wherever the hell he sleeps and hangs out nowadays, which is a thread I'm about to make because i think it'll become useful.
