[not yet! I'll get on that then. XD]

Kingsley laughs. "Well I'll help out as well as I can. Mac and Cheese is great. Definitely the real stuff though. I can't really get into the fake stuff." Amethyst is obsessed with it though...it's so yummy!

[The poor sauce soldiers never stood a chance.... >.>]

Molly grins and tosses a packet of macaroni (closed, luckily, or that could've been awkward) over to Kingsley. "Let's see how well you're over the 'burning water' phase," she jokes, before getting out a saucepan for each of them. She also gets out the stuff to make the cheese part of the Mac and Cheese, but as Mya only knows it to come in powder form, she has no idea what she's getting out. Let's just go with it, alright? She grabs some shallots and chives too, chopping them into small, uniform pieces just to add a little something to the mac and cheese.

Kingsley catches the packet of macaroni and grins. "You'll be surprised." He gets water and sets it to boil like you're supposed to. Mac and Cheese is one of the only things I'm good at making. Sigh. Oh, well, other than that pasta recipe I wrote in the journal for you. I hope that was clear enough for you to understand. I was writing it from memory. Anyway, back to this.

I can't wait to try that recipe! It's going to be epic! I've only read it once, but I'm pretty sure I can get it together.
Molly smiles, watching with appreciation as he sets the water boiling and gets to work on the macaroni. Then she remembers she's got a job to be getting on with, too, and she hops to it. She soon has the ingredients for the cheese sauce combined and warming through nicely. She stirs slowly, turning to smile quizzically at Kingsley. "So what's it really like?" she asks. "Growing up an only child, I mean. I know you always say it's quiet, but, like, besides that? I feel like I've bombarded you with all these random, crazy stories of life with the Prewett's, but I don't really know what your world is like. You must have some stories - everybody has stories," she insists.

YAY! It's one of my most favorites.
Kingsley is watching the water carefully; he won't let it burn. Not like that one time...oh the mess it made in the pan. Mother was not happy. Nope. He was only 5 though. You couldn't really blame him for not getting it right the first time. "Well, I guess I have some stories. Nothing that interesting though. Father works for the Ministry so I've spent a lot of time around there throughout my life. Sort of why I'm planning on working for it myself. Being an only child is okay. I mean, it is generally more quiet around our house and I don't have to share a room with anyone but, it would have been nice to have a younger sibling maybe." This was slightly weird. He wasn't use to talking so much about his personal life. It didn't make him uncomfortable though, since it was Molly he was talking to. The water was boiling now and he put in the macaroni, pleased he hadn't burned anything.

Molly will never ever admit this out loud, but the first time she walked into the kitchen, she burned the water too. But she was six, and had plenty of chances to learn the art of hiding the evidence from Gid and Fay, so she never got caught. And years later, when somebody finally pokes around in the space under the house, there's no way they'll believe the saucepan with the burnt-out bottom could possibly have been Kitchen Commander Molly's doing. Nope. She listens with interest as Kingsley describes a bit about his family and childhood. She smiles nostalgically when he mentions how he'd have liked a younger sibling. "You'd be a good older brother," she says, smiling at him even while she continues to stir the sauce with rhythmic motions. "And I'm, like, an expert on older brothers! Gid and Fabian are awesome, really, but sometimes they have this tendency to go just a bit overboard with the idea that they need to protect Alice and I from everything. Ali gets it worse than I do, but still, we've had our moments over the years. So what do you think you'd like to do at the Ministry?"
She turns the heat down so the cheese sauce can simmer away and await the macaroni counterpart. Leaning against the bench next to the stove, she fixes bright and interested eyes on Kingsley.

Kingsley would probably laugh a little bit if he heard about her burnt water experience. That is sort of funny.
He smiles when she mentions he'd be a good older brother and, he totally understands why her brothers feel the need to protect her and her sister. He'd probably be the same way, honestly. "Well, it sounds like your brothers really care about you and your sister, so that's good. I'm sure as you get older they'll get over the overprotection phase. I'd probably be the same way if I had a younger sister." He watched the macaroni for a bit. It was almost finished. Yeah, we're cooking fast. "I've wanted to be an Auror for a while. So that's what I'm planning on doing after I graduate. Eventually I'll even become Minister...imagine that." The macaroni is done. Yay! Kingsley drains the water from it, because I think that's what you're supposed to do next. Haven't made it in a while.

Molly giggles and decides not to tell Kingsley about Gideon's attempt to stipulate she not have sex until the age of 25... and that he thought he was being generous... and that he was a bit late asking that. Anyway... "Actually, I think Gid's gotten a tad worse over the past couple of years, but I've sort of learned to, like, work around it. An Auror, hmm? You'd totally make an awesome Auror! And the best Minister in freaking forever!"
With a big grin, she takes the drained macaroni and tips it into the cheese sauce pot, stirring it through. She closes her eyes for a moment as she smells it. "Mmm - smells good," she says, lips curving into a satisfied smile. Nothing like a well prepared dish.

Kingsley grinned. "You think so? I think it'd be fun. Dangerous but fun. And nothing really scares me except if they threatened to discontinue Swagger OMFGTHATWOULDBETERRIFYING so I think I could handle it." He watched her stir the macaroni and sniffed it too. "It does smell good." He grabbed them silverware and plates, or bowls, whatever you feel like using, and set them at a table. "What were you considering for a career? Anything in particular?"

Molly says let's go with plates because that was the first thing you mentioned. She brings the saucepan over and ladles the Mac and Cheese into two yummy piles on the plates and sends the saucepans to the sink to scrub themselves with a flick of her wand. She shrugs as she goes to get a pitcher of pumpkin juice and a couple of goblets for the table.
"I don't really know. I've sort of never thought about it, really. But I suppose if I had to pick a career to really, like, pursue, I would choose Healer. It's something I really like doing, and probably a little more fiscally sound than opening a shop for baked goods and knitted things," she laughs, even though that would be fun too.

Kingsley grins. "You'd be a great Healer. And of course you could always maybe sell baked goods and knitted things on the side. Like occasionally at a market or something like that." They have those...some where. Yep. "As long as you're having fun with whatever you choose to do. I wouldn't be able to stand working somewhere and not enjoying it."

Molly laughs, because Gideon keeps telling her to sell the Special Cookies outside Hogwarts and make a fortune. But she's not going to mention that right now. Nope. She falls into an easy grin as she pours pumpkin juice for them. "Yeah, I guess it's all about finding something you like enough to do every day for the rest of your life. And I suppose I could still do all that other stuff on the side if I wanted to."
She takes a bite of Mac and Cheese and smiles. She chews and swallows, because she is the Prewett That Comes Complete With Table Manners, and grins. "We make, like, an awesome team," she announces.

Kingsley nods and takes a bite of Mac and Cheese as well. It was really yummy. He has very good table manners, so he also chews and swallows before replying. "We do." He grinned. "My family used to have a pet bird, and whenever we'd make mac and cheese I'd give it a cooked noodle. He loved it." Rather random fact, but he's just throwing it out there because his terrible conversational skills are rubbing off on me, and neither me nor him know what to say.

Molly's face lights up, because Kingsley just volunteered random information without her having to fish for it. She takes a sip of pumpkin juice, and thinks that it's also lovely to be sharing a meal with someone who doesn't think that sharing a meal involves sharing the contents of their mouth with the world as they eat. "Really? We were, like, never allowed pets. I think our parents thought we were enough hassle," she laughs. "So did you have lots of pets, or do you just like birds?"
She continues eating nicely, because this is all very nice.

Kingsley can't help but smile to himself; he likes seeing Molly's face light up like that. "We just had the one bird. When I was 7. He...er, escaped at one point." Then flew into the window and broke his neck, because birds do that sometimes you know. We have 2 birds, had 3, and once one escaped and flew into the window. He was fine, really. Just a little scared.
Kingsley didn't think that'd make for good meal conversation. "Mum and dad decided another bird wouldn't be a good idea. We never did get another pet then. I'd love to have a dog though. If you could have a pet what kind would you get?" He continues eating nice and neatly as well, because that's how it's done in the Shacklebolt household. Yep yep.

Molly is glad he didn't share that whole story... She fiddles with a fork, thinking it over. Then she smiles, having come to her decision. "Well, if I had a pet, I'd want a pet that, like, does something. I mean, what would be the point of a goldfish? It'd be totally pointless, and Fabian would put glitter in the bowl to decorate and poison the poor boring thing... [which is what Mya's friend's kid sister did haha]. So it would have to be, like, a pet you can play with, and I think cats are a little too hissy and lazy at times, so I would totally get a dog too!"
She continues eating, nearing the end of her meal because she does have a big mouth, really.

Kingsley's nearly finished as well, because he's still a growing boy. Yep yep. Haha.
"Hmm, well, putting glitter in and poisoning the poor fish would definitely not be good." Kingsley wonders why her brother would even consider doing that. Why would anyone consider doing that? Well, if you're a kid...I guess it sounds like a good idea at the time...Poor fishy.
"I don't really like cats myself." Remus has been talking nonstop to Kingsley about the evils of cats. Kings eventually told him he hated cats too, just to get him to shut up. But Kingsley really doesn't like cats. He can deal with them, but he doesn't like them. "Dogs are just really friendly."

Molly giggles and fiddles with her fork some more, now having finished her Mac and Cheese. Nom Nom. Oh, no, that would be of-age Fabian that would go there with the glitter. "Oh, glitter in the tank would definitely be a bad thing, but Fabian doesn't think in earth logic, he, like, thinks in fabulous logic. Which is totally all about the glitter, and making things pretty. And if you hug him when he's in a glittery mood, you get to spend the next 5 hours in the bathtub, panicking about why it just won't come off," she grins. "He's completely gay, if that isn't already abundantly clear, by the way," she says with a smile, because she is proud of her brother and loves talking about him and his fabulosity, which has taught her many things about being a woman. Plus she's a little curious to see how Kingsley reacts, even though he's friends with Viktor so he must be alright. She takes a sip of pumpkin juice and continues. Hermione is pouting about Remus' hatred of cats, but has reconciled herself to the fact that Kiora will likely go the same way, so she's outnumbered.
"I don't, like, dislike cats, I just think dogs would be better companions," she shrugs.

Kingsley laughed. "I'll make sure to remember never to hug him then. I'm not particularly fond of walking around with glitter all over me. But he definitely sounds like an interesting guy, I can't wait to meet him." He's not bothered by the fact that Fabian's gay. He knows a few gay guys. And since he knows he's completely 100% straight, it really doesn't phase him. He's finished with his mac and cheese and takes a sip of juice.
Remus is glad that someone else in their family won't like cats. He didn't want to be the only one. Especially that evil monster, Winnie. Who has disappeared. YAY. Now he is doing a little victory dance in my head. Woot.

Hermione let Winnie disappear because she was afraid of having a cat around the baby... She does miss him though. Razz

Molly freezes a moment, before she smiles. Her first thought was that it was fantastic that Kingsley was telling her he wanted to meet her family even after all he'd heard a bit about them, instead of running the other direction like a sane... or shorter man would do. Her second thought is something along the lines of 'oh shit there is not enough weed in the world to make me want to go through that introduction', and her third thought is the realisation that Kingsley was bigger than both Gideon and Fabian, which could definitely make life interesting. Of course, she has no reason to presume anything, because she and Kingsley are just friends. But Gideon and Fabian are going to be suspicious of any male within a hundred yards of Molly that isn't proven gay anyway, so what the hell. Her grin deepens a little.
"Well, you say you'd like to meet him now, but I bet you'll, like, totally regret it once you do," she laughs. "Even on their own, my siblings are kind of... overwhelming. I'm, like, the most normal one, which should give you a good indication of how off the planet we are in general. We've all got great hair, though," she adds, a hint of the Prewett ego showing through with her little smirk.

Kiora would like to add that she's quite alright with no cat being around. Har har. Yep, Mya's outnumbered now.

Kingsley grins. "Well, if their hair's as nice as yours then I'll believe it. I doubt they'll be too much for me to handle though." They probably wouldn't like him. He was a lot different around other people than what Molly generally saw. He was generally nice to girls, because he was a gentleman, but he didn't hold back much when it came to guys. If they were annoying him he'd let them know. And most of the time he'd just ignore them or not talk much. He could be a friendly guy but sometimes he just didn't care.

"Oh my God - just, like, don't ever let Gid and Fay get into a contest over who has the hotter hair. It goes on for weeks on end, until one of them gives himself whiplash trying to do the best hair flip." Then she realises there was a compliment to her in there and she smiles at him. "Thanks. I like you lack-of-hair," she takes the opportunity to announce. Molly thinks it's kind of inevitable that Gideon and Fabian are going to annoy the hell out of Kingsley. Hopefully he'll be in a good mood that day though, because Molly's life will be complete if Kingsley responds to Gid's awkwardly creative threats with a round of laughter. She gets up and carries their empty plates over to the sink, using the same spell she'd used on the pans to have their crockery and cutlery washed and dried in moments. She grins. "I, like, love that spell."

Kingsley laughed. Oh, and he will probably laugh at Gideon's threats. I mean, he'll be practically towering over him. There's no way Kingsley will feel threatened. "Not having hair is rather convenient, I'll admit. I can't imagine how sore their necks must be then from all the hair flipping." He gets up to join her by the sink. "That's a useful spell to know. I tend to use it at home, except for sometimes. Sometimes I like doing the dishes by hand cause I can just get lost in thought. Though once I burnt my hand doing that, cause I was so busy thinking that I didn't realize I'd turned the hot water on all the way instead of the cold water."
