Re: Parkinson Home
Draco realized why she panicked about the time when she cuddled up to him again and chuckled. "Okay now? I probably should have phrased that one better." If it had been Leo Parkinson up there his reaction would probably have been pretty similar to Pansy's. It wasn't him though, there was no real way her parents could spy on them while they were out here. At least now that Leo had said his piece Draco could feel a little more secure. Now he just wondered what his parents were planning to do tomorrow and how smoothly things could realistically be expected to go.
Re: Parkinson Home
"Yes, okay now." She grinned at him, nuzzling into his shoulder. She pulled the blanket over her more, and relaxed in the warmth and the quiet. Letting her eyes close, Pansy kept herself from falling asleep. "So, tomorrow. Does your father still dislike me? I know he used to glare every time I came over because you would inevitably end up with dirt on your clothes and your hair all messed up." A little smile crossed her lips again, fading in a moment as the slight worries for tomorrow returned. Blinking her eyes open, she stared at the sky, nervous for the first time in her life about being around the Malfoys.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco cuddled her closer and turned on his side a little to look at her, "It's all different now, and just don't get me all messy tomorrow and we should be fine." Draco noticed the little wrinkles between her eyes from worry and he leaned forwards to give her a long kiss before pulling away and smoothing a hand over her hair. "They've already agreed once which means they've said no to everyone else so the odds of them trying to back out of this are slim to none. Anyway I love you and now that we're finally together there is no way I'm letting them stop us."
Re: Parkinson Home
"Deal." Pansy still worried a little, at least until he kissed her and calmed her down again. "You never know with our parents. They're quite sneaky and can make anything happen, it seems." She tried to laugh, but it was hollow; there was a little genuine fear behind it, but she did her best to push it away. "Never let me go." Looking up at him, Pansy looked at the tiny lights reflected in his eyes for a few minutes before burying her face against his chest and his warm sweatshirt.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco rested his chin against the top of her head and shook his head, "Never, no matter what." He reaches behind her and pulled over more blanket, wrapping them up in it, his leg hooking behind hers to pull her even closer. He closed his eyes, not to fall asleep but just to enjoy the moment, cuddling up to her in the crisp summer night air. Tomorrow was going to be a completely different sort of day to today, a lot more stress. Even though they hadn't know muffy's reaction to Pansy's running away Leo's hadn't worried Draco overly much due to their correspondence. Lucius on the other hand... Well Draco didn't know how much Leo had told him because Draco himself hadn't really been in contact with his parents since they gave him the ring.
Re: Parkinson Home
Leo hopefully kept his head and only shared the necessary information. News that your heir's future bride has run away from home upon learning that she has been arranged to be married is a little less than promising, especially if you never cared for the girl anyway. That'd have ruined Pansy in Lucius's eyes. But of course Leo knows how to handle things and so unless Muffy let slip to Narcissa, it was most likely safe. Granted, Muffy likes to gossip, and it was rather sure that worrying excessively about Pansy's departure would have occupied a great deal of her time during those three weeks that Pansy was missing. Though she hadn't meant to, Pansy fell into the state of half-consciousness, just between sleep and waking. She floated there a while, comfortable and safe in Draco's embrace. "I love you," she whispered, during one of the moments that she was more on the awake side of her state of sleeping.
Re: Parkinson Home
But even if Muffy told Narcissa odds are that she held her tongue in turn and knew better than to tell Lucius. Narcissa had never had any huge problems with Pansy and now that the dark lord was on the rise again a loyal family like the Parkinsons was worth more than almost any foreign family. Draco smiled and squeezed her slightly, "I love you too. Sleep out here tonight?" if she wanted to stay here it was fine with him he would just need to transfigure another blanket for them so she didn't get cold.
Re: Parkinson Home
Narcissa is intelligent, she'd know better for sure. Pansy was probably safe. Or at least, as safe as it were possible for her to be from Lucius. Then again, she still hadn't forgotten that Lucius had been the one to cast the cruciatus on her. But that was a memory she did not like to visit. She peeked up at Draco's question, giving him a tiny smile of innocence. "Please?" She closed her eyes again, returning to her cuddly burrowed position up next to him with her face hidden in his sweatshirt, sighing happily as he moved his arm from around her for a mere few seconds to summon up another blanket that settled over them gently. "Sleepy," she mumbled, returning to her usual state of tired nearly childish muttering when she became quickly exhausted. "Night, Draco."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco also put another blanket roll under his head, holding her as she fell asleep, "Sweet dreams" He kept his own eyes open for a while, looking up at the sky. Before he knew it he opened his eyes and it was morning, he hadn't even realised he was falling asleep. The sun was just rising over the walls of the tower and shifted slightly, shaking her shoulder to wake her up. "Love, it's morning. We need to get back to the house." It would be about seven now and his parents were due around eleven.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy curled in on herself, hiding with her shoulders hunched over as if they would protect her, creating a little place where her shoulder met his chest and her face was hidden between. "No, it's not." She mumbled, drawing her legs up a little, though she stopped as her knees bumped into his and straightened her legs out again. "The moon is just bright is all." She became quiet, attempting to go back to sleep though she knew Draco would probably not let her.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco chuckled and sat up slightly, pulling her up with him even while she kept her face away from the light. "Come on Love, you have to get up now. My parents are arriving in a few hours and engaged or not I don't think your father will accept the 'I promise we only slept Sir' line from me. Even after last night's chat." He pulled the blanket down, tugging it out of her grasp and stroked the back of her head, making her face a little of the sunlight.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy continued to pout as Draco moved them about and took the blanket away and let the sun shine in her face. As his hand stroked over her hair, she smiled softly. "You make it hard to ever want to get up when you keep cuddling me like this. Why would I ever want to move from that?" She sighed deeply and slumped into him again, hoping that perhaps she could knock him over just by leaning on him and maybe could get another minute or two of sleepy snuggling out of it. After all, if she had to spend the day pretending to be a proper pureblood heiress for his parents, she wanted as much of this as she could get to make it worth it.
Re: Parkinson Home
Unfortunately Draco isn't that easy to knock over and instead he pulled back slightly, depriving her of some of his warmth. "But see if we're good today then we can spend everyday waking up like this. So two hours now or the rest of forever?" Leaning down he pulled her off him and gave her a soft kiss which also served the effective purpose of getting her to sit up long enough for him to reposition his arms so she couldn't lie down again. Slowly but surely he was going to get her up and back into the house before he got Leo's glares and Muffy's screeching.
Re: Parkinson Home
"Yeah, yeah," Pansy half agreed, only mildly upset that his kissing her was used as distraction to sneak away and get her to sit up more. As soon as he was more out of the way though, she flopped onto the ground Lilo-style, you know the scene, where she flops and just lays there and mumbles incoherently for a bit. Just like that. "So tired." After a little prodding from Draco, she sat up again, pushing her hair back into place and blinking slowly. "Fine. House." She reached out and took his hand, twisting a little where she sat and laughing as they apparated back into her bedroom. "Lazy. So sue me," she explained, climbing off her bed and wandering into the bathroom. She left the door open, stripping behind the shower curtain and dropping her clothes over the top before turning the water on.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco was surprised but laughed when she apparated them to her room. "Well that's one way to avoid your father." He got up and followed her into the bathroom, grabbing his things from the cabinet as she threw her clothes over the top of the shower. As the room started to fog up Draco cast a temporary defogging charm on the mirror as he didn't think it would go over too well if he cut himself shaving and told his parents that it was because her shower fogged up the mirrors. He passed her a towel when she finished showering and traded with her, dropping his clothes outside the shower and taking a relaxing soak under the water, leisurely washing himself and his hair. When he was done he grabbed a towel from where he had left it and dried himself off, wrapping it around his waist before heading back into their room to find himself some formal day robes in his bag.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy reached around the curtain to take the towel that he offered, wrapping it around herself and then heading out of the bathroom and into her closet as he got into the shower. She dried off and put on an airy blue short dress and then stood by the mirror at her dresser to do her hair. When Draco finally came out, she walked over to him, wrapping her arms around him and pressing her face into his chest, taking a deep breath with her eyes shut, a smile on her face. "You smell nice." Leaning up on her tiptoes she pecked him on the lips and slipped away into the bathroom to finish her hair while he got dressed. "What time is it? And when were your parents coming again? I can't remember, seeing as I was only half conscious when you told me."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco kissed her back, "And you look beautiful." He watched her walk into the bathroom then walked onward to find clothes. He pulled on boxers and pants then carried two shirts, a black one and a white one into the bathroom with him. Stepping up behind her he rested his head against hers with a sigh, "It's almost nine now and my parents arrive at 11. Which shirt should I wear?" He knew he had to find a tie and robes too but hopefully Pansy would take pity and do it for him. He knew Leo couldn't care less if he wore robes or not but Lucius would expect it.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy was still playing with her hair, mostly playing, not really fixing, when he came into the bathroom. She grinned when he put his head against hers, sharing the sentiment of not really wanting to get ready for this. "You know I like you in black best." She winked at him and laughed, drawing little circles in the air with her wand which caused her hair to start to twist itself into neat wavy curls. "Are you wearing the suit or dress robes? I know you hate the robes, but they look nice. Not that the suit doesn't. It's a rather dashing suit, actually."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco tugged on one of her curls, "You know my father will expect the robes. I'm glad you approve of them both though." He knew he had to finish getting ready but instead he wrapped his arms around her, leaning down and nudging her hair aside to press kisses to the back of her neck. He inhaled the smell of her hair, loving the familiarity of it and the comfort of knowing that she would be right there next to him. And he could keep her from misbehaving, but hopefully the threat of losing what they had would be enough to keep things straight.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy stopped messing with her hair as he put his arms around her, a smile stretching across her face. She looked in the mirror at him, the way his big arms encircled her and he leaned down, much of his face hidden behind her and beneath her hair as his lips pressed against her neck. She felt as though she could watch that forever, and instantly wished she had a photo of it to keep on her bedside table. She wanted to freeze this moment where she's dressed and nearly ready, but he's there, half-dressed, distracted with two shirts clutched in his hand. They'd be wrinkled now, but that could be fixed later. Pansy stared for a few more happy moments, reaching up and running a hand over the back of his neck. Finally she spoke up, knowing they had to be ready when his parents arrived or face consequences. Lucius would no doubt blame her if they weren't properly ready. "As much as I hate to say it, you've got to put a shirt on." Turning around in his arms, she looked up at him with a grin, stepping back a little. But only a little, as the bathroom counter stopped her from going far. "Unfortunately," she said, tracing a finger from his belly button up toward the little dip at the bottom of his neck, "this isn't presentable to a nice meal with your parents."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco let out a miserable groan and let her step away and turn, smirking when she ran here finger up his chest, "Really? That's a shame." He put down the white shirt behind her and held up the black one, unwrapping his arms from her waist to grab his wand and straighten it out. He hoped that his parents visit wouldn't last too long and they could escape back up here later, or even somewhere outside. Just for some peace and quiet together. He also knew that he would have to face pointed questions today about when he was going to propose and he didn't want to have to explain, wanting to keep it a surprise for Pansy. When he finally had a neat shirt on he scooted to one side of Pansy in the mirror and grabbed a comb to deal with his hair. Finally presentable, with a little help from Pansy too, he took her hand and pulled her into the bedroom with him, getting out his robes and putting them on. "What do you think?"
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy turned back to the mirror as he worked on de-wrinkling his shirt. When he started combing his hair, she smirked and reached for it, taking over for him and making sure it looked nice. Proper and perfect enough for his parents to approve, but still a little mussed like she liked it, just enough where it looked 'carelessly neat' if such an oxymoron could be used as a real description. A perfect happy medium between the two expectations of parents and girlfriend. Scratch that, parents and fiancée. She grinned a little more upon that realization in her head, and let him leave to put his robes on while she finished fixing her hair, though he had originally tugged her along with him. Escaping from his hand with only a little resistance from him, she stepped back into the bathroom to finish her hair. Relaxing some of the more taut curls, and redoing some that had gotten a bit out of hand, she tried to make it as nice as possible. Satisfied, she left the bathroom and was greeted by Draco turning for her to look at his robes. With a smile, she walked over to him, smoothing out the shoulder a little. "Very handsome, indeed."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco smiled and reached out, hands wrapping around her waist and pulling her close. He leaned in to kiss her, resisting the urge to run his fingers through her hair and pull her down onto the bed. Part of him wanted to drop down on one knee and propose right there, tell their parents they wanted an autumn wedding, but they had all the time in the world and he would make it special for her when the time came. Downstairs he heard the pop of apparition and pulled back, "That'll be my parents. Precisely five minutes early as usual." Taking the hand with the ring he walked to the door with her, holding the door open for her then walking down the stairs to the sight of their parents all standing in the hall watching them. Walking over he let go of Pansy's hand to meet them, giving his mother kisses on the cheeks and clasping his father's hand. Stepping to one side he let them greet Pansy as well.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy smiled at him, pulling away as she too heard his parents arrive. "Of course they are." She followed him out the door and down the stairs to the entryway, smiling at his parents in a friendly sort of way, trying to look very well behaved and grown up. After Draco had greeted them, she took her cue and stepped forward, both her hands grasped by Narcissa who tugged her forward with a smile. They kissed each other on the cheek and shared a sort of half hug greeting. Then Pansy turned to Lucius who took her hand, and she bowed her head in greeting quietly with a soft smile, bobbing slightly where she stood. Not a curtsy by any means, just a proper dip of her posture to her future father-in-law. Muffy's hand was almost immediately on Pansy's lower back as she stepped away from Lucius, the woman's long nails digging into Pansy's side, as if she were trying to warn her not to screw this up. Pansy wriggled carefully from her mother's grasp, sliding back over into Draco's side where she felt comfortable. Her father invited them into the sitting room, offering Lucius a drink and both of them a nice seat by the window while they waited for dinner. Pansy followed in last of all, keeping more toward the darker side of the room, floating by the bookshelves and out of the way of the adults.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco wrapped his arm around Pansy when she moved back to his side again, following the parents in and standing to one side with her. All seemed okay so far, no dirty looks from Lucius to Pansy and Narcissa seemed in good spirits as well. They managed to evade attention for quite a while until Lucius called them to the center of the room and then the usual interrogation, masked as parental caring, started. Draco kept his arm around Pansy, his posture straight and stiff and his face emotionless as was expected of him.
