Fleur was about to turn away and head back to the castle. She began to move to turn around when she heard him say her name. She froze. She bit her lip and looked back at him, "Yes?" She had no idea how to respond. She didn't know what to do anymore.

Sirius actually had no idea what he wanted to say, he was still extremly confused. He looked up at Fleur with somewhat pleading eyes. He sighed before speaking. "I don't know...." Sirius didn't know what was going on, he had never had any problems with girls before.

Fleur glanced at Felicia, who seemed to be comfortable where she was. Hopefully, she's not eavesdropping on this... She paused, slightly thrown off by the response. That was unexpected. She walked over to him, careful not to step on her dress or trip over it. She probably looked like an idiot standing by a lake in a dress. She didn't know what to say in this situation. Should she ask him about Katie? Should she tell him what Katie had told her? Should she not say anything at all? "I'm sorry..." That was all she could manage, "I didn't - I mean, I don't want to do zis to you."

*continues reading, deftly ignoring Sirius and Fleur, who were standing somewhat near her* That book had my Ancient Runes homework in it.... a great explanation to the professor that'll be. "Sirius blew up my homework." It sounded stupid even now, in her head.

You couldn't 'ave known zat we 'ad been Polyjuiced." She paused, "I should 'ave been more careful...I should 'ave told you what 'ad 'appened."

"It's nobodys fault..." Sirius tried to think before he spoke but there were too many thoughts swimming through his mind to think clearly. "I don't know. It's just really, really confusing."

Fleur frowned, she didn't understand at first. She thought for a moment before speaking, "Oh..." She finally thought she understood what he was talking about it being 'confusing'. She wanted to tell him what Katie had told her at the ball, but it wasn't her place. Katie should have the right to tell him herself. She muttered to herself, not realizing she had spoken out loud, "If what's confusing you is a choice between Katie and me...just tell me 'ow you truly feel about 'er. I don't know if I can wait much longer." She remembered at the Valentine's Ball. Hermione had consoled her and told her to tell Sirius how she felt about the choice between Katie and her. Now, what? She couldn't do that again, not if this was bound to repeat over and over.

Sirius once again puts his face into his hands. "I don't know..." He felt like those were the only three words he was saying, but it was all he could think of and manage to say.

That was most definitely not the answer Fleur had been hoping for. She couldn't do this, "No...NO! I am not doing this!" She pulled her hands back to her sides and stood stiff. She felt anger and grief. If this was how Katie had felt after the Valentine's Day Ball, Fleur wanted to hurt her own self even more for doing that to her, "You - I gave you - " She felt dreadful. She couldn't believe that, after everything, this was how she was going to turn her back on him. It felt like the curse Tam had cast on her at the lake. Like her entire torso was being cut in half, "I gave you everything in me," She choked, "And - and all you can say is you don't know," She felt her fists clench, "I am not doing this. I - I can't - can't do this!" She was stuttering far too much for her own good. She looked like a hysterical mess, or at least that's what she felt like how she would look.

Sirius hated to see Fleur this upset. "I'm sorry...It's just, this is really confusing." Sirius runs his fingers through his hair in stress, mumbling the one thing he wanted her to hear. "I love you..."

Fleur felt herself tremble with a mixture of sadness and anger. Why was he doing this to her now? "It shouldn't be zis confusing! 'Ow is zis so confusing? I don't understand!" She sat down in the grass, not caring about her dress any longer. She barely heard what he said before she had fallen and she looked back at him, "What? Stop saying zese theengs to me! You say you're - you're confused, but - but zen you say you love me." Fleur covered her face with her hands. She would not let him see her cry. She would not. After she regained some control over her emotions, she looked back up at him, whispering "Prove zat to me and maybe I'll believe you."

Sirius knew what he had said was true, but he also knew it could have been said to Katie without lying. He leaned over and kissed Fleur.

Fleur was caught off guard once more. That had not been entirely what she meant. Her mind told her to not let this happen, to let him go. Stop. Run to the castle. She didn't listen. She listened to the other part of her that wanted him for herself. She kissed him back, a little rough due to her crazy emotions. There was a small flicker of hope that told her that maybe, just maybe, this could help him forget all about Katie. Though, deep down, she knew this would never happen.

Fleur was left alone in the grass. She had hoped that a talk would bring reassurance. It brought exactly the opposite. She stood up and fixed herself, before running back to the castle. Every time she fell for someone, it ended badly. Why should she think this would be different?
