Severus quietly shut the door behind him, and changed out of his school uniform into something more comfortable. He climbed into bed, nestling himself amongst the blankets before he finally let the tears he'd been holding back fall again. I love you, Remus. Did it have to be this way? Did you have to leave? Did I really just not have enough to offer? But I'd do anything for you... he thought to himself, as he drifted off to sleep.

Severus awoke and dressed, heading down the stairs to the common room. Genius that he is the mornings when barely conscious, he trips and falls down the stairs, landing on his face with a loud "ouch." He decides to go to the hospital wing to get something for the pretty lumps and bruises starting to form.

Severus walks in, stripping off his bloodied robes and tossing them on the ground. He looked around for the others, noting Blaise in the room, but decided to ignore him. He pulled off his shirt, which some blood had seeped into, and used it to wipe some of the blood off his face. He grabbed a bit of parchment and scribbled a note, sending it floating away out of the room to its recipient.

A note fluttered in and landed quietly on Sev's head.

Dang. I don't know if that's a better or worse result that I'd anticipated.
Don't make bets so soon. I'll win. And honestly, don't worry about Remus. He's not so good at getting messages through his thick skull. I tried to teach him a thing or two, remember? Hopefully James will catch on a bit better.

Severus sighed as he read the note, and levitated it in the air with his wand. "Incendio," he muttered watching it ignite like the bottom of James' robes. He stared at it in silence as it crumbled into ash, deciding he had nothing to respond with. He rolled over and hid under his pillow, deciding he needed sleep more than a shower anyway. It wasn't long before he was out cold.
