Luna looked up smiling but her face fell as she saw Nikki's expression. "Nikki, what's wrong?"

Nikki struck the tragically sad stance she practiced in the Showers. "I wrote a speech to explain this! Verily, during the eve of the Hogwarts Spring Gala, the most grievous occurrence did occur. Having accepted the kind Mr. Fred Weasley's offer of escortment, I happened to the ball. During the course of the grand affair, it so happened he excused himself to get the pair of us a drink. This proved to be a clever rouse, and a diversion so he could spend time with his second date. The scarlet woman was in pink, and had brown hair. The wench! My heart has been broken forever more." She sat down on a rock near Luna's. "Or so I think. I could be totally wrong. In fact, i think I am. Fred doesn't seem like that type of guy... but... the girl knew him very well, and it was more than a friendly kiss on the cheek. It meant something."

"Awww Nikki!" Luna hugs her friend. "Wait, so...a girl with brown hair gave Fred a kiss and not just any kiss on the cheek?"

Nikki nodded miserably. "We had been dancing, and then we kissed, and then he said he was thirsty and offered to get me something to drink. I went over to an empty table to wait, when suddenly a girl went up and kissed him on the cheek. You know the kind that isn't like a hello kiss, but a _-am-so-glad-you-are-part-of-my-life-you-are-so-sweet kind of kiss."

"But-but-but...he's FRED! I know Fred and he wouldn't do anything to hurt you. Do you have any idea who the girl who kissed him is?"

"I could've sworn Fred wouldn't do that... and I feel slightly guilty for just bolting after I saw it. But, I mean, I saw it." Nikki blinked back tears for a second. "Is it absolutely horrible of me to hope it was a girl who had a crush on him and he didn't like her back?"

"Oh well.... I guess that would be natural for you to want her to feel the same way you do...maybe it was a misunderstanding? Fred is a twin you know."

Nikki rolled her eyes. "Yeah, but there are some pretty obvious differences. I mean, when Fred walks, he holds himself higher. And he takes longer strides. Besides, i got a quick glimpse of him twin at the Gala, and they were wearing different outfits." She paused, took a shuddering breath, and then continued, "I just hope, if the girl did like him, she didn't do anything worse once I left."

Luna frowns and hugs Nikki again. "I'm sorry Nikki. Have you talked to Fred about this yet?"

She shook her head. "I haven't seen him around." She sighed. "I have been sorta looking for him, but part of me is too afraid to ask what happened. If it is bad news, I don't want it so soon." Her eyes lit up a little. "I accomplished part of being sad, right? The sad rant to a friend? I also tried to rewrite a song, so I can say I wrote a sad relationship song, but I am having trouble. Wanna hear it?" She began to sing. "Freddy my love, I am more confused than words can say. Freddy my love, explain what happened when you were away. What happened at the ball made my day so much sadder, when she kissed you as if I didn’t matter. Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love, Freddy my love. Freddy you know, I’ve thought in my absence from you. And everything made me think of you." Nikki looked worriedly at Luna, "It counts even though the tune was written, right? I am not sure how you do the sad potential break-up thing... so I borrowed ideas from novels and magazines."

"That was a beautiful song Nikki. Sad, but beautiful." She gave her a one-armed hug. "I think it would be best to talk to him right away and sort all this out. Waiting will only make it worse in the end."

"I know!" Nikki whispered. "But I am scared it will end up as some prank, and I don't want ti to have been." She sighed. "I am probably over-thinking it... but I am just so scared we felt differently... and I don't want to hear him say that."

Nikki buried her face in her hands. "But, this is Hogwarts! What if it was someone under Polyjuice? And even if it wasn't, how many relationships have lasted here? Remus and Hermione were on and off for a bit, Tam and Peter are just nuts, Lily and Krum, I mean, this place could have a relationship curse!"

Dom comes down to Nikki's spot and glances around. She notices that Luna and Nikki are talking, and hopes that Luna is discussing last night and helping Nikki see reason. "Hey guys," she greets coming over to the two.

"Hey Dom." She turns to Nikki. "What about Lee and me? We're doing great. And- and... Remus and Hermione are ok now!"

"I am sure if anyone can beat the curse, it is you and Lee. You are both to chill for the curse to touch. And, maybe the curse is on hold for Remus and Hermione." Nikki was clearly grasping at straws.

"Oh Nikki," Dom says while moving toward her friend. She sits down and then gives here a hug. "I heard about last night from Fred," she says. "I think that it was just all a horrible mix up."

Nikki practically leapt in Dom's lap when she spun and moved closer. She grabbed Dom's hand, and whispered, "Mix-up? I wasn't some sort of sick joke, or a victim of a Polyjuice Potion taunt?"

"I don't think so," Dom says thinking back to the evening. "From what it seems, Ange just got really confused. I think that maybe under the influence of Firebeer, she mistook Fred for George. I know that I just met Fred last night Nikki, but I can tell he's crazy about you. He would never do anything like that. Especially with Ange and George."

Nikki smiled hugely at Dom. "Really?" She felt like jumping up and dancing. "Really?" She was hopeful, that maybe it wouldn't be bad, that it was just too many mistakes piling up and she and Fred could survive it.
