He stared back. "Well I'd rather not have the death of someone on my shoulders plus just because I don't care about you like I used to doesn't mean I would want you to die." It wasn't like he went around wishing for the deaths of others and he would feel bad if Severus died.

"I didn't say you wanted me to die. I was simply pointing out that you wouldn't care if I did," he muttered half to himself, wishing he had a chocolate frog to nibble on. He does stop dangling his legs over the edge, though, and instead sits L-style on the ledge.

He let out a short laugh, "Don't be daft. I would still care if you died. I'm not heartless." He turned and left the tower heading back to his dorm.

Severus sighed as Remus walked away. No, you're not heartless. Your heart just isn't mine. Severus stared out into the storm, shivering a little from the freezing rain. His black shirt was soaked against his skin, and he'd not been wearing a jacket when he'd chased after Malfoy. Still, he made no move to leave. He didn't really want to go back inside, he didn't want to rejoin the world of the living. Out here, he was allowed to feel the way he did- he felt empty, hollow, and dead inside.

Severus stared at the sky, searching for the moon that he knew he wouldn't find tonight. He finally decided to go inside, as Lily would never forgive him if he froze to death or caught pneumonia. Though, it might be a bit late on the latter. He dragged himself away from the rooftop and trudged back inside towards the common room. He didn't bother trying to dry off.
