Viktor walks out onto the pitch and sees someone smoking. He rolls his eyes and wonders who the idiot is. As he gets closer he realizes it's none other than his cuddle bunny. You have got to be kidding me. He walks up behind Regulus and crosses his arms, looking unamused. "New habit?"

Regulus startles and nearly drops his cigarette, swinging around at the sound of Viktor's voice. "Viktor! What are you-- shit."

"Vell this is the quidditch pitch." He glances down at the cigarette on the ground and back up at Regulus, waiting for an explanation.

Regulus gulps and extinguishes the cigarette on the metal goal post, standing up and facing Viktor. "I.. I didn't think you'd approve, so I didn't tell you," he said, staring at Viktor's feet.

Regulus turned red, glad that Viktor couldn't see it in the moonlight. He looked up at him guiltily, hastily shoving the now empty pack back into the pocket of his cloak. "Viktor... I.. I'm sorry," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, feeling terrible.

Viktor turned his head away, not wanting to look at Regulus right now. "So am I." He stood there quietly for a bit before looking back at Reg. "Vy dp you do it? Vy do you haff to smoke? You know how bad that is, yes?"

"Yes. No. Sort of?" he mumbles, looking at Viktor sadly, and praying to Djinn that he'd forgive him for lying. "Why? Because it helps, Viktor. It feels good and it helps me focus and it clears my head and it helps," he said, trying to defend himself and knowing he was just digging himself a deeper hole. "I've had a lot going through my mind lately, okay? I just... it.. Fuck."

Regulus frowned and wanted to reach out and touch him, to hug Viktor and not let him go, but he was fairly sure he wouldn't be received with open arms. "Viktor, please, try to understand. There are just some things I can't talk to you about, okay? I just- I just can't," he said, running his hands through his hair, never a good sign. Yeah, let me just tell you all about Cormac, because you'd take that so well. And let me just go right out and ask you about all the stuff Gellert's been saying about you, that'd go over real well. And while I'm at it let me just tell you all about how shitty I feel about everything with Sirius, you know.

Reg sighed in relief when Viktor didn't pull away, and moved a little closer to him, looking into his eyes to show him how really sickened with himself he was for doing this to him. "S-stop? You mean, entirely?" he asked, not liking this at all.

Viktor rubbed his forhead in frustration. "Regulus. You know it's bad for you, and you know I don't like it. Vy should you keep smoking? Give me von good reason."

"I told you already! It helps me, okay? It helps me deal with things," he said, his temper starting to rise. He hadn't been able to smoke in far too long, having been in class all day, then rushing to dinner, and leaving early to get to his dorm and get the cigarettes, only to be stopped by Gellert. He needed one, badly, and it was starting to get to him, but he had to ignore it right now, Viktor was more important. "Viktor, please, what does it matter, really?"

"If it's that important fine. Smoke all you vant. I'll miss the way you used to taste though." Viktor picked up his broom. "I'll leave if you vant. I'd rather not be around ven you're doing that."

Regulus dropped his own broom to the ground and stopped him, hugging him tightly. "No, Viktor, please, don't go. I'll stop, okay. I will. Just don't go," he pleaded, wrapping his arms around him tightly.

Somewhat shocked by the sudden change in attitude, Viktor dropped his own broom and awkwardly hugged Regulus back. "It's for your own good, you know. I'm only telling you this because I care about you, Reg."

Regulus breathed a sigh of relief and clung to him, not wanting to let him go. "I care about you too, I do, I do. I'm sorry I lied, okay? I'm sorry, I mean that," he said, holding tightly.

Regulus smiled and buried his face in Viktor's shoulder, not wanting to lose him, not now, not ever. "You should be mad at me. I lied to you," he said, feeling terribly guilty. "I'm sorry, Viktor. It was wrong. I should have just told you. I promise, I'll stop. I don't want to lose you. You mean so much to me," he said looking up into his eyes, feeling short again as he always did when standing beside Viktor.
