He didn't realize that he was still biting his lip until he felt the dryness, so he took his teeth off of it and forced himself to look into her eyes.

Tam let a shaky smile cross her face and held his hand even tighter. She didn't notice that she was still in her ballgown or that she was sitting in the mud in the middle of a pumpkin patch, all she knew was that there was hope... That they really could be okay... "I... I... Thank you..." She felt the tears dripping down her cheeks but ignored them.

[Also because this is during the ball Tam still has the bruises on her face from fighting with Reg and Petey knows about the fight... and all this crying is getting rid of her makup (I know because it was the basis for a Tam/Snape conversation) so feel free to either notice or ignore them as you wish]

He realized how hard he was squeezing her hand only when he realized that the tips of both of their fingers were bright red. He relaxed his grip a little, and wiped away one of her tears with his finger. She flinched slightly as his touch on her face, and he asked, in a soft voice, noticing her bruises, "Tam--are you--are you alright?"

"Well I mean I had that fight... and it... well it passed a bit past words...." She looked at him, trying not to break down sobbing.

Tam looked him straight in the eye, "Well I saw him doing something, and I can't tell you what it was, but we got to fighting about it and I slapped him so he punched me then I ran for it..."

He bit his lip again. This didn't seem like a very good place to start telling each other everything. What happened to that whole honesty thing? "Look, love, I--I don't want to pry, but he obviously hurt you, and with our honesty promise--can you just tell me what you saw?" He looks at her, brow creased in concern. As soon as he left her, he was going to go find Regulus and Gellert and crucio both of them into oblivion.
