Re: The Fireplace
Reg's expression changed entirely, from depressed and forlorn to almost excited. "It... it's amazing, Narcissa. It doesn't just make you high. It gives you this rush of energy, this euphoria... you feel so much more alive, Narcissa. It makes everything seem so real. And you can do nothing wrong, when you're on it, either, or at least you feel like you can't."

Re: The Fireplace
Narcissa looked a bit confused. "So... it... Does it change your personality or something?" she asked. "How could a drug be bad if it does so many good things, then?"

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus frowned. "It's addicting. And every time you do it, you need more than the last time, to even get close to the high before. And when it goes away... you crash," he said, shuddering a little at the memory of his last low. "I.. I forget to eat, sometimes. And you don't sleep. It makes you... it makes you look like I do right now," he said, for lack of a better explanation. "You're always thinking about it. Always. Either, how good it is when you're on it, or when you'll get to do it next, or how badly you want it..."

Re: The Fireplace
Narcissa was scared for him. Getting better, if he could, would clearly not be easy. She wished she knew more about the subject so she could help him. "Can you..." she asked softly. "Can you get better? Or fix it, or whatever?"

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus facepalmed. "Haven't I told you? For me, the good outweighs the bad. For me, I don't want to get 'better,' Narcissa. I'm okay with this."

Re: The Fireplace
"Right," she said, troubled. "Sorry. Must've slipped my mind. What I..." she sighed. "What I can't understand though, is how you got involved with... with this." she looked at him, as though he was a different person now. "How did you?"

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus shrugged. "I don't even know anymore. Back when I first started becoming friends with Faye, I started smoking with her and some guy named Teddy. Then Viktor found out, and made me quit, so I did. But it was bad, 'cause I was so addicted to it- and so a friend tried to help me out, and gave me these pills. So I started taking them, a lot, all the time- and then some really horrible things happened with Viktor and I was a wreck and I thought we were done forever and so I went back to my friend, and his dealer gave me this," he said, pulling out the small back just long enough to show her.

Re: The Fireplace
Narcissa doesn't know what to say, so she looks at her shoes instead of saying something to comfort her cousin. She wishes that he and she could switch places because he has Viktor and people who love him, while she doesn't think that anyone would miss her if she were to die from an overdose. She wishes this wasn't happening in the first place-- not to Regulus, anyways. He was so sweet and so nice; Or she had thought so, anyways. So, she looks at him sadly and hugs him as hard as she can without saying a word, and when she pulls back she has a weak smile on her face. "Alright, Regulus... You know what you're doing, right?" she asks. It feels kind of like lying to him when she's verbally giving him her approval, but is mentally screaming for him to stop doing this to himself.

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus hugged her back tightly, eternally grateful to have her. He wished he'd seen that she'd be there for him sooner, and didn't want to let her go. He loved his family- this part of it anyway. He briefly wondered what Sirius would think if he found out. "I... yeah, I do," he said hesitantly, then hugged her again. "I'll be okay, with you as my friend."

Re: The Fireplace
Narcissa flashed a smile at him and pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. "Well, I'll be sure to be there for you, then." she said, standing up. "I'm going to go get some food, okay? And the motherly part of me is simply screaming, making sure I tell you that you need to eat or you'll fade away. So, do me a favor and eat! You're all skin and bones," While she said this all good-naturedly, her eyes betrayed her worry and she hugged him again. "See you around!"

Regulus smiled, and hugged her back. "I'll see you around, Narcissa. Don't worry about me, I'll be okay someday."

Faye death skips into the common room because it is SHAMEFUL THAT NO ONE HAS DEATH SKIPPED FOR A LONG ASS TIME. SHAMEFUL I SAY.

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus looks up and sees Faye, and sighs. He was fairly sure she hated him now, so he said nothing, but smiled a little at her death skipping.

Re: The Fireplace
Faye plopped down on one of the couches, no longer wearing long sleeved shirts. She wasn't embarrassed about her scars anymore. Her head swayed to the music in her head until she noticed Regulus. She bit her lower lip, unsure of what to say. What do you tell someone who doesn't think you should be their friend anymore? "Um, hey, Reg..." she said, ending with a small smile.

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus is surprised when she sits down beside him. "Oh- Faye- hey," he says, returning her smile with a small one of his own. "Er... how're yo- what happened to your arms? You get in a fight with a hippogriff?!?"

Re: The Fireplace
"Oh, um, that's from awhile ago..." Faye averted her gaze and instantly cross her arms, eager to change the subject, "I'm fine. Doing fine, I swear. Hippogriffs are the least of my worries. How have you been? Good, I hope? If not, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for a lot of things," she started to ramble, but at least the ramblings would bury the subject of the scars on her arms, "I'm sorry that I pushed my way into your life and tried to direct it and all. I hate when people do that to me and I shouldn't have done that to you. It's your body - do what you want. I care - I do - but if you insist on poisoning yourself with that stuff, I shall stand by and catch you when the toxins take pure control. That's what friends do, right? Wait, are we still friends? Or did you mean what you said back in the corridor? I can leave."

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus stared at her, trying to make sense of her fast rambling, but looked at her in surprise at her last words. "Faye- I thought you didn't want to be my friend anymore. That's why I left. I thought you wanted me gone," he said sadly. "I still want to be your friend. You're one of the few friends I had that I cared about. Er, do care about, still. I don't even know what's been going on in your life. I really am a bad friend, aren't I?"

Re: The Fireplace
When she sensed that her sensitive subject had been successfully buried, she sighed, "I'm glad you care about me and all. It's quite reassuring! And why would you think I wanted you gone? That's stupid. I merely said I didn't like what you were doing to yourself - which I don't - but you took that as I wouldn't be your friend if you continued doing it. Wasn't what I meant. Watching you reminded me of myself. In the past, not now," Faye paused to take a deep breath, her nails digging into her forearms with her arms crossed so tight, "It's okay that you don't know some of the things in my life. Most of the things that happened recently, deserve to be forgotten. The less people know, the better. Don't say you're a bad friend. You aren't. If you were, I wouldn't be here? We're both fucked up people and we're probably always going to be that way, which is why we need to stick together. Doesn't make us bad, just...well, fucked up."

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus looked at her concerned, but understood that she didn't want to talk about it- and if she would leave his issues alone, he should offer her the same respect. "Yeah. Stick together," he said, brightening up a little. "... You're not fucked up, though. I'm fucked up. You- you're fine," he said with a smile. "How've you been, though. Really. You don't have to give me details, I just... haven't spoken to you really, in a while."

Re: The Fireplace
"Yeah, sure I'm not," she uncrossed her arms and used two fingers to trace over the scars, "Don't be angry if I don't agree with you on that part." she mumbled, staring at the word 'Tease' on her arm. She couldn't figure out why any of this had seemed like a good idea. It just had. "I cheated on Scorpius, as you may have already known. My memory's been messed up for a bit. He dumped me. I went a little wonky and decided to, err, take part in self-mutilation," she whispered the last part, before she continued, "I was in the hospital wing for a bit. Scorpius came. We talked. Got back together. I stopped the, err, yeah. That's about it, in a nutshell."

Re: The Fireplace
Reg's jaw dropped and he gaped at her for a good minute before he throws all logical sense out the window and hugs her. "Faye- oh Merlin, Faye! I'm so sorry. I've been such a horrible friend. I should never have given them to you, I'm a horrible person, I should have been there for you, I shouldn't have just disappeared on you like that, then you would be okay, Merlin, I am so, so, so, sorry," he said, squeezing her tightly.

Re: The Fireplace
"Wha?" Faye nearly suffocated, still not quite back to her normal self, but she was glad to have Regulus back as a friend, "It's not your fault. I probably would have still done it anyway. I'm kind of, well, ridiculous like that. I wouldn't have told you if I had known you'd end up blaming yourself. It's no one's fault, but my own. I should have had more control over myself," she laughed and hugged him back, not quite as tight, but enough to show she cared.

Re: The Fireplace
Regulus reluctantly let go so she could breathe again. "No. I'm glad you told me- that way I can make sure you don't ever do something like that again. Merlin, Faye," he said, looking at her arms again. He wanted to just hide them away and make Faye all better again- hypocritical, of course. "You're not ridiculous. I understand, about the pain," he said quietly, thinking about his night with Gellert.

Re: The Fireplace
"I doubt I'll fall back into it, but I'm sure Scorp and Penny will keep an eye on me until they're absolutely positive." Faye sighed and played with a loose thread in her jeans, concerned for Regulus, "What do you mean? You haven't done anything I'd kill you for doing, right?"
