Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco grinned as she went for another potato, "You really love those things don't you? And I've seen Blaise a few times since then. I haven't seen much of Dee though this year." He shrugged and put some more potatoes on her plate. At her questioning look he said "I like seeing you eat." He took a piece of bread and mopped up the gravy on his plate before putting more food on it. Third helpings always taste the best.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Well, I don't know if it's that I love them, or just that I want them because I can never have them around you. It's hard to tell, you know, since I don't ever get to eat them." She glanced at him as he put more potatoes on her plate, but didn't complain. A dinner of pretty much all starch probably wasn't healthy, but whatever. Pansy rolled her eyes at him as he mentioned liking to see her eat, thinking that couldn't possibly be attractive in the least, but she laughed as he loaded up third servings. "I see you still eat enough for six people."
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco saw her eyes roll when he said he liked to see her eat and nudged her, "Try some meat now? Yeah?" He finished reloading his plate, "I eat enough for a growing boy and those six people must eat nothing like you." He couldn't stop his eyes from flicking to her potatoes. They looked so good. DAMMIT.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
She noticed him eyeing her potatoes. "Don't you dare touch them." She gave him a rather threatening look, sliding her potatoes to the other side of her plate, away from his wandering fork. It was nice at least for the moment, as Pansy had forgotten again about the existence of one Astoria Greengrass. Lucky for Draco, it put her in a better mood and she'd managed to forget that she had decided she hated him, at least for now. She ate another potato instead of the meat, wanting those safely in her stomach before she thought about anything else.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco laughed as she moved the potatoes, "Do you really think that would stop me if I wanted them? You of all people know how persistent I am." He forked his own potatoes into his mouth and served himself some more. Looking in the bowl he saw there were only five more left. "Do you need more of them? Or can you start to eat something else now?"
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
She shook her head appeasingly. "You can have those as long as I get these." She reached down the table for a bowl of macaroni and cheese, but pulled back with a tiny sharp intake of breath as stretching too far sent a little jolt of pain through her ribs. Apparently they still hadn't quite healed all the way. She reached for the bowl again more carefully and dumped some of the cheesey noodles on her plate.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco was too busy scraping potatoes onto his plate to notice her wince but smelt the mac&chesse and turned towards it. "Merlin, you have to let me have some of that!" He reached over her and took a spoonful from it that never even hit is plate. Chewing he couldn't help but grin, he could feel the cheese all over his chin and reached up with a napkin to try to get it all off.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Merlin, Draco, hungry or something?" She laughed a little as he ate so quickly, pointing at his face. "Still there, Mr. Smooth." She smirked at him a little crookedly before turning back to her own plate and taking a rather more graceful bite of mac and cheese, which was damn good. House elves sure knew the right cheese to milk to noodles ratio.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco swiped at his chin and then turned to her, "All gone now?" He looked at her, really hoping it was all gone before one of those Gryffs noticed. Setting his fork down he propped his elbow on the table and watched her eating. He'd missed this, this comfortable familiarity that he really only had with Pansy. He couldn't imagine anything replacing this.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
She shrugged at him. "Yeah, you're good." She tried to eat some more, but felt awkward with him watching her like he was. "Draco do you really have to stare? I don't have to be eating, you know. I could just go back to the library now. Back to my land of the dead, apparently." She picked up a roll and scooted to the side as if she was going to get up, and slung a leg over the bench.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco reached for her arm and wrapped his hand around her elbow, "No no, don't leave!" He grabbed her fork with his other hand an speared a potato, "Here, please don't go."
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy blinked at him as he grabbed her arm and practically begged her not to leave. It was kinder than last time he'd tried to get her to not walk away, but that didn't stop her brain from drawing the connection. "I don't want anymore. I'm full." She didn't get up, but she didn't put her leg back over the bench either.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco put the fork down and moved so he was straddling the bench facing her, "Pansy? What is it?" Suddenly he knew what she must be thinking. That was not what he wanted to discuss with her. Without realizing it his hand went slack and slipped off her elbow.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy looked up to meet his eyes, but glanced away again. "Nothing. It doesn't matter." She felt a little more comfortable as his hand slipped from her elbow, but this was all honestly inevitable in the end. They'd had such violent encounters the last two times they'd talked, and he'd gone from calling her Scorp's newest loyal whore to making her eat potatoes as a special treat, and it just didn't make sense at all. She was shaking her head without realizing it, trying to work out what the hell was going on.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco turned back to the table and started to slowly eat again. If she wanted to talk about it she'd have to bring it up, he didn't want to broach that topic with her. He glanced at her then back to the food. Well this just got awkward.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy closed her eyes for a second and nearly groaned, but stayed where she was. "Draco, talk to me. Please?" Why did it always have to be like this? Their conversations ending in awkwardness, or anger, or some other extreme variation of emotions. "You had to know it'd come up eventually. It's not just something you can pretend didn't happen."
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Pansy do we really need to talk about this?" This was exactly what he had wanted to avoid but he took one look at her face and turned back towards her, "Okay fine. Let's talk." He pierced her with a stare, "So?"
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy was not looking forward to this conversation. But she fixed her posture and spoke to him with as much confidence as if they were discussing the macaroni and cheese again. "First off you know I'm not one of Scorp's so-called whores right?" She held her hand up, begging him to let her finish. "I didn't sleep with him, Draco, no matter what it looked like."
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco sighed and wanted to turn away. He didn't want to face her right now, especially not about this. "Yeah Pansy. I know. I shouldn't have called you that." He picked up the roll she had discarded and started to shred it. Why the fuck did she want to discuss this shit?
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"You know? If you know why did you attack us like you did?" Her face showed the hurt she felt and she leaned forward when he wouldn't look at her. "Draco, please, look at me? What's happened with us that we go from something like that night to dinner like this was, just pretending everything's okay?" She was looking at him nervously, watching his face and glancing at his fingers as they destroyed the bread.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco let go of the roll and pieces dropped everywhere. Meeting her eyes he could see the hurt in them but he wasn't sure what she could see in his. "I know now Pans. I didn't know then. Merlin do you think... No." His eyes narrowed slightly without him realizing it and he started to glare at a patch over her shoulder and didn't answer. Like hell if he knew.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy groaned and moved with both her legs under the table again, and put her chin in her hands with her elbows on the table. "Look, sorry I brought it up, I just can't deal with not knowing what to think about you. I can't keep bouncing between hate and," she almost said love, "whatever good thing we had going on." She didn't know what else to say.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco sighed and looked at her again, softening his gaze slightly. "I know Pans. I... I'm just really not sure what's going on right now." He looked around the great hall and watched everyone around them eating dinner. They all looked so cheerful and content with what was around them. How many of them were struggling like he was? How many of them were stuck in situations like this, situations where they couldn't find the right words to say, the right things to do.
Looking at her he watched her put her chin in her hands and stare across the table. She still looked pale from all the time in the library, still too thin. Her hair fell down to cover her face from his view and he wanted to reach forward and brush it back. He remembered when he did that the last time... after that night on the astronomy tower when everything had seemed so easy. When they'd seemed to be in control of everything, ready to face anything.
Their first kiss hadn't been perfect though. He'd been angry and they'd walked away angry. And now they were angry with each other again. They'd always had their fights over the years but now it felt as though they couldn't be in the same space without there being angry word exchanged, without him becoming someone he didn't want to be. Someone like his father.
After years of watching his mother get pushed around by his father he'd always thought he'd never become someone like that. Slowly he reached out his arm and touched her shoulder, "These past weeks, they haven't been like normal. There's something off between us and I can't figure out why." He dropped his hand from her shoulder and turned so that he was straddling the bench again facing her. If they had to talk about this to make things right and make her feel better then they should.

[First reaction: OMGFOURPARAGRAPHSWITHTHOUGHTSANDBACKSTORYILOVEYOU.
Next reaction: Draco is being nice. Weird. Wonder how long this will last. XD]
After he said he didn't know what was going on, she figured that'd be the end of their conversation. She'd get to walk away again, hopefully without a fight this time, and just go back to the library and ponder entirely too much about someone who probably didn't care anymore. She was about to get up and excuse herself to study some more when she felt his hand on her again. Pansy shut her eyes as he touched her shoulder, the same one he'd managed to ram into the wall last time she'd actually spoken to him. It was better now, just a weird feeling from one extreme to another. As he started talking again, she turned to look at him, tucking her hair back behind her ear. "It's like we're becoming two totally different people from who we used to be. And what if what we're becoming, what if we can't be friends anymore for all the fighting and impossible conversations and jumping to conclusions? I don't want us changing to mean we grow apart." Pansy looked at him despairingly, knowing that it was already happening. "I don't know what I'd do without you, but sometimes it feels like nothing at all would be better than this up and down shit that's been going on with us." She looked away, forcing herself not to bring up Astoria in this conversation, or Draco's misinterpreted observations about she and Scorpius. She wouldn't mention how she was tired of being pushed around, and how as soon as she'd stopped taking it, his pushing around had gotten worse, more violent, and it scared her. She didn't tell him that she felt like she didn't know him anymore, or that despite what she tried to force herself to ignore, she somehow managed to still be completely in love with him anyway.
