Al is walking through the halls when he sees Remus, that guy he talked to a while ago...back before he was with Scorpius and when Remus was going through some similar issues. "Hey, Remus," he said with a wide grin after jogging a few steps to catch up to the other student. "Long time, no see! How've you been?"

Now that's stuck in my head...

Remus hears his name being called and turns to see Al coming over to join him. "Oh, hey, Al. It has been a while, hasn't?" He smiles at the other student. "I've been okay. How about you? Oh, any luck with your friend?"

"I've been pretty good. Things with my friend have been...Great. We ended up talking and it took a while, but everything seems to be working out great now," he grinned. "What about your friend? Any luck?"

Remus smiled happily for Al. "That's great! I'm glad everything's working out for you." He bit his lip and shrugged when Al asked about him and his friend. "Things...definitely didn't go so well on my end. Now I'm trying to work past it so there isn't this weird..gap-like feeling between us anymore. It's okay though, honest. I have my boyfriend, Jack, and he's amazing. I really really like him. Kind of almost as much as my friend, but definitely not the same."

Al frowned sympathetically. He remembered how he had felt when he first told Scorpius about his feelings and if they had stayed at that stage of their relationship he can only imagine how awful it would have been. "I'm sorry, Remus," he said, genuinely feeling bad for his friend. "But this Jack guy...He sounds pretty awesome. I'm glad you found someone else who can make you happy."

Remus shrugged, not really wanting to think about it more. He has no problem talking about Jack though. "Oh, he's the best. We spent all of the holidays here together and I'm sure my parents will be glad to know that thanks to him I didn't spend all of Christmas day in the library, which I really would have done..." he laughed. "Though...I still have to tell them about being gay. Have you told your parents yet?"

"Um. Sort of," he mumbled, looking down at the ground as he thought about James before looking back to Remus to give him a more proper answer. "My mom took it really well. So did my sister. My brother wasn't too pleased, but I think that has to do more with the fact that he found out by walking in on my boyfriend and me in the shower together," he explained with a slight grimace. "And I haven't told my dad yet. Sadly, I doubt he'll take it well at all."

"Oh..." Remus blinks. "I don't think finding out that way would be very...good at all." He bet that was a very shocking experience for Al's brother. "I'm glad your mom and sister took it well. It helps to at least have someone in your family who is okay with it. That way you'll have someone you can talk to if you have problems." That's why he was glad he had Dean. "I hope everything does go okay with your father though. I'm sure my parents will be okay with it after getting over the first initial shock. They're pretty accepting."

"That's good. I hope it all goes well too. If your family is as accepting as you say they are, then I'm sure it'll be fine. My parents weren't that shocked. I guess they sort of noticed that I was gay before I did," he admitted with a light laugh. "I was never really into girls to begin with, to be honest," he admitted with a shrug.

Remus chuckles, nodding. "I know what you mean. I was never really interested in girls either. I guess I wanted to be interested though, because that seemed like the normal thing for guys our age, but I just couldn't ever make it happen and I thought there was something weird with me. Not to mention I am generally just plain awkward around almost every single girl I ever meet." There were only a couple exceptions to that.

Al chuckled. "I wanted to be interested, just because I thought it was the thing to do. I had plenty of friends who were girls, but I was never really interested them in the way most guys my age were," he shrugged. "But I'm glad I found out when I did. I'm a lot happier now that I've realized I'd rather be with guys."

"Yeah...it is kind of nice to know, rather than go your whole life never being as happy as you'd like to be because you're unaware or denying the truth." Remus shrugs. "I mean...this definitely has its' ups and downs, but it's who we are, you know? I don't know...at least it's better than trying to force myself to like girls when I can hardly even handle standing next to one. That date my friend set me up on was just so awkward. I felt bad for the girl."

Al laughed. "Oh, I never let my friend set me up. First of all, it's destined to be awkward and secondly, the girls he was known to hang out with weren't exactly dating material," he laughed, thinking of all the girls Scorpius had shagged back in the day. "I have never heard of a blind date going well. Ever. It's impossible, I know it is."

"It was more like...I didn't really have a choice..well, I sort of did, but I have this thing where I have problems saying no to people because I don't want to upset them or cause any problems. Plus my friend really thought I was interested into girls but was just too awkward to talk to them myself...I kind of agreed to go along with it just so he'd think I really was interested, but honestly I wasn't. She was nice though." He shrugged. "I've never really heard of a blind date going well either. Though I suppose it's possible...somehow."

"Maybe. I'll let you know if I ever meet someone who's has a successful blind date. I'm sure it'll be all over the headlines though, so you probably won't need to be to tell you," he said jokingly with a playful grin. "It's funny. My friend and I always joked around about me being gay, I never noticed until now that, well, that I actually am," he chuckled.

Remus chuckled. "I know what that's like...though my friend never really joked about me being gay, he just liked to call me a girl. Sometimes I actually consider that he might be half right. That's just terrible, isn't?" He laughed, shaking his head. "I guess I can be kind of girly sometimes. I even...well," he leans in, his voice almost dropping to a whisper, "don't tell anyone, only my brother knows this really, but I actually keep a journal. Isn't that kind of girly in a way? It is, I know, but I just do. I have for years now. Though I haven't really written in it lately for the past couple of weeks cause...I'm sort of afraid to. I don't know why..I just am." Though it may have something to do with the fact that if he continues writing in it then he'll end up writing about Sirius again and he doesn't want to do that.

Al leaned in as Remus whispered, smiling in response. He didn't find that girly at all. In fact, he had a bunch of journals too. Though he didn't treat them like journals. He used them for writing...other things that he had never told anybody about before. He had tried writing in his journal about his life but he just felt weird doing it. Wasn't his thing. "Really? That's kind of cool. I never used journals. I used music instead. Singing and playing piano always helped me deal with stuff at the end of the day. I don't think it's girly at all though."

Well, Remus is pretty glad he doesn't have to worry about Al calling him girly. "Music? That's neat. I am...not very good with music. Can't sing and definitely can't play any instruments. Mum tried to get me to learn violin when I was younger..not good at all. The neighbor's cat sang better than I played." he laughed. "Do you ever try writing your own music?"

"Um. Sort of," he admitted, rubbing at the back of his neck awkwardly. "None of it's any good though. All rubbish. I'd like to be able to write my own stuff one day though. I love performing music, and I think it'd be a lot better if I could perform my own work, you know?"

"I bet it's good." Remus smiled encouragingly. "And I agree, it'd probably be a lot better performing your own work because you'd know it inside and out. Like it's a part of you or something." Oh dear, it was saying things like that that caused Sirius to call him a girl sometimes. Ah well. Votever.

"Exactly! That's exactly it. I mean, there are plenty of songs I use when I need to express myself or whatever, but I wish I could just get over this writer's block and create my own song. I'm great with the music, it's the lyrics I have trouble with, sadly."

Remus could see how lyrics might be harder to come by than the actual music. Not that he knows much about writing songs himself. "Well, hopefully you get over your case of writer's block soon so you can move on with your songs. And I would love to hear something of yours some day."

Al smiled. "Maybe I'll sing for you one day. I'd like to perform for a real audience sometime...I don't know why I haven't before," he shrugged. It's not that he couldn't do it. It was just as if there was something holding him back, he didn't know what.

"I'd like that. And you know...the only one holding you back is you. I know it doesn't sound pleasant, but...well, it makes sense, doesn't?" Remus shrugs, knowing it made sense in his head. "I bet you'll have lots of performances in front of real audiences some day, and all of your friends will be there to support you. Just have to believe in it yourself and it'll happen." He smiled encouragingly.

"That make sense," he nodded. "It'll happen one day. Don't know when, but it will. Anyway, I should probably head to class. Don't wanna be late. I'm glad things with Jack are going well, Remus. Hopefully I'll see you around soon. Nice talk to you!" he said with a grin before walking off to go to class.
