Re: The Courtyard
(I kind of wish it snowed here...) Lily sighs and mentally counts to ten as her concentration is broken by her very own stalker. He'd been so quiet lately she was starting to hope against hope that he'd given up, but apparently not. "I was, Potter," she says coolly, her eyes flickering to his broomstick. Good, he has other plans. Plans that involve going to the Quidditch Pitch and being away from her. "Somewhere to be?" she hints.

Re: The Courtyard
"Well, I was going to go fly a bit, but since I'm talking to you now, just leaving would be rude." He glanced down at the notebook in his hands, flipping through it a little boredly. He'd always liked transfiguration, but these DADA notes were a little less than interesting. "Studying? You're probably already best in the class, Evans." Flattery was good, right? Didn't Sirius say that. He wondered if he should be listening to Sirius after all.

Re: The Courtyard
"Oh that wouldn't be rude at all, I'd hate for you to change your plans on my account. Really," Lily insists hopefully. Then she shrugs. "I'm the best in the class because I study, Potter. Some of us take this 'education' thing seriously," she says, turning back to her notes and doing her best to be clear that she considers the conversation over, although experience should tell her by now that Potter won't leave until either hexes or punches are thrown...

Re: The Courtyard
Well that didn't go as well as he'd hoped. Perhaps Sirius wasn't as suave with the ladies as he promised he was. Or maybe Lily was just different. Nahhh. She was a girl, so they all had to be sorta the same, right? Poor James, you're so dense right now. Anyway, he closed her notebook and held it in his lap, glancing over at her as she started reading again. "There are different levels of serious for school. Some of us just like to have a little fun too. You could join in sometimes, Evans."

Re: The Courtyard
Mya just laughed a lot at Dense!James. Lily doesn't even look up from her page, not wanting to encourage Potter into more conversation than was strictly necessary, but a quick smile steals over her lips because she's just remembered her date with Gideon and how much fun she had had with him. "I have plenty of fun, Potter, I just tend to do so around people I actually like spending time with," she says, still not looking at him.

Re: The Courtyard
"What is this, Evans is smiling?" James laughed, because it was pretty rare. She never smiled around him, and even rarer was a smile at him. "So if you have fun, how come I'm never lucky enough to witness this, huh? I find it hard to believe you could have fun without me noticing." Did that sound creepy? He hoped not. He didn't mean it in a creepy way, it just sort of slipped out. Whoops.

Re: The Courtyard
I love this too, Dom!
Lily is most certainly not smiling anymore. She is looking at Potter though, which he might think is a step in the right direction, depending on whether or not he notices the look of faint horror on her face. "That's creepy, Potter," she announces, and tucks a strand of hair behind her ears. "I always knew you were a stalker, I half expect you'd follow me when I go on dates and everything. You don't usually see me smiling because I'm never actually pleased to be in your presence, by the way. In case I've not been clear enough in the past," she deadpans.

Re: The Courtyard
That... that was heartbreaking. Not only had she called him out for being creepy when he totally didn't mean to be, but even though those gorgeous green eyes were on him, what she said was too sad. "I'm not a stalker, Evans, I didn't follow you... wait. What? Date?" He was hung up on this idea, wondering who in the world she had agreed to go out with and why it couldn't have been him. It wasn't for lack of trying, at least.

Re: The Courtyard
Couldn't resist... Lily's bitchy streak widens a thousandfold when it comes to Potter so she saw an opening and went for it. Also, I just remembered (and cracked up laughing...) that James went a bit fanboy over the Prewett brothers to Molly in the first couple of weeks of 2.0... nowhere near as bad as SBP, but I figured you should know.
"Fine, you don't follow me - you just have an uncanny ability to turn up unexpected and unwelcome. Which is pretty much the same thing, when you boil it down. And yes," she says frankly, "I went on a date with Gideon Prewett, and I intend to do so again."

Re: The Courtyard
Well isn't that ironic. *hasn't read sbp though, oops*
"It is not the same." He protested but figured it wouldn't matter to her anyway. "Gideon? Really? And you're going again?" This was horrible news. This was disheartening and disappointing and... horrible. Evans was dating Gideon, who used to be cool. Not anymore, nope, not when he stole James's girl. And duh, Evans is totally James's girl, at least in his head.

Re: The Courtyard
lol oops. *shrugs*
Lily stares coolly at Potter, unmoved by his evident disappointment because really, what did he expect? She wasn't kidding last year when she said she'd rather date the Giant Squid, so her accepting a date from someone like Gideon Prewett should hardly come as a surprise to him. Lily only hopes that Potter will take this opportunity to realise how pointless and annoying and fruitless it is for him to continue to bother her. Maybe he'll even find himself a new victim, a girl who likes toerags. "Yes. See, Potter, I actually enjoyed spending time with him, so I thought it might be nice to do it again some time," she explains, not sure Potter will quite understand the concept on his own.

Re: The Courtyard
James was staring at her, but realized he was staring and looked away before she told him it was creepy. He didn't like it when she thought he was creepy, because really Peter was probably the only creepy one of the Marauders. "Oh. Well, I'm glad you had fun." He was quiet, which was strange for him, because generally he was quite loud. But this had just ruined his mood a little bit. And here he'd spent so much time thinking up poems to hopefully win her over, maybe he should have actually talked to her instead. WOAH JAMES, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD. He'd figured something out. Step one in the right direction: complete.

Re: The Courtyard
Peter the creepy mayo. *blinks* Indubitably. Lily looks back down at her notes, really wishing Potter would just go away, because his quiet, trampled demeanour is irritating. She's done nothing wrong, after all, she's always been clear -painfully so- on where she stands when it comes to Potter. She turns a page, her face blank and disinterested. "Is there anything else you wanted?" she asks dismissively. Oh good show James, you figured out step one! *wildly applauds*

Re: The Courtyard
He fiddled with the notebook in his hands before finally looking at her again. "Evans, why do you hate me? And don't give me the 'because you're an arrogant toerag' answer again. I want a real reason why you don't like me." He couldn't understand it, why she hated him so much. It made no sense. He'd just wanted to get to know her and have her like him like he liked her. His eyes were sad like a ... well not like a puppy because only Sirius would be able to master puppy eyes. But they were sad.

Re: The Courtyard
Is he giving her the doe-eyed look? *blinks*
"But you are an arrogant toerag," Lily blurts. Then she sighs and tucks that ever-errant strand of hair behind her ear because if she's going to do this, she may as well do it right. "You're loud, you're boorish and you're pushy. You're a bully - you and Black always picking on people as if you're funny, as if ganging up on Sev ever made you cool and powerful," she says, colour rising in her cheeks as she gains momentum, as if being invited to spill out her every problem with Potter has opened the floodgates. "How many times have I told you I don't want to go out with you, and still you insist? Does it really never enter into your limited brain that I honestly don't want to go out with you, that I don't like you, I don't find you amusing or interesting and I just want you to leave me alone!?" Somehow, she's on her feet with her hands on her hips, although she doesn't really remember standing up. "You are a selfish, arrogant, childish bully, and you're a whiny brat whenever you don't get your own way. Is that clear enough, or should I continue!?"
Wow. Even I feel bad for Potter right now.

Re: The Courtyard
James sat there in silence as she started yelling leaning back slightly when she stood up and towered over him. Her cheeks had flushed to match her hair and even though she was a little terrifying and saying horrible things, he couldn't help but think of how pretty she looked. What if she was right and all of that was true? But it couldn't be, could it? He wasn't that selfish or arrogant and he didn't whine that much and it just wasn't fair that she was accusing him... oh. Maybe he did whine. He looked up at her still sadly, maybe sort of doe eyed, but that was more Lily's thing. Stags don't do the sad eyes, they're just majestic and wonderful. "No, that's... that's perfectly clear." He sat her notebook down where she had been sitting and stood up in front of her. "I'm sorry you feel that way and..." He took a deep breath, not really sure what he was even saying, just knowing that it sort of seemed right. "I wish you didn't feel that way about me, Lily. But really, I'm not that bad am I? I can't be that bad... you've got to be exaggerating. And besides Snape abandoned you for the dark arts, he didn't care! I...." He sighed instead. He couldn't say that he cared, not after all she'd just spewed at him. It'd be pointless.

Mya thinks we should probably pause soon for our guest to pick it up tomorrow, because if Lily keeps talking Potter will probably want to just dribble out through a crack in the pavement soon...? Lily's eyes practically glow radioactive with anger when Potter brings up the demise of her friendship with Snape and it forces every other thought to the back of her brain for the time being. "Don't ever talk about that to me," she hisses dangerously. "I'm not exaggerating. I just want you to leave me alone!"
