Re: Parkinson Home
Draco looked around again and decided that he wanted to be more comfortable so he pulled her along with him as he scooted to one of the corners and pulled her over into his lap with his legs stretched out along the back. That was much better. Suck on that Leo. His arms were still around her and he pressed a kiss to her cheek, "You've never shown me this room. Why?"
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy scooted along with him, snuggling up on his lap as he rearranged them and got more comfortable. She looked around the room when he asked why she'd never show it to him, her eyes finally settling on the windows again. "I used to have a kitten that would only sleep if she was in here." She moved a little, getting more comfortable in his lap and wrapping an arm around his middle.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco vaguely remembered something about her kitten dying when they were little and sensed that she probably didn't want to talk about it so instead he fixed his arms around her and cuddled her close, looking over at the green curtains. What Leo had said was still stuck in his head and as hard as he tried he couldn't stop thinking about it.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy was glad that Draco didn't ask again about the kitten. It had been devastating to a nine year old, her brand new kitten getting out of the house and lost in the snow, never found again. She suspected her father had eventually found it, not in the best of conditions, and had simply never told her it had actually died. That was probably for the best. Apparently she doesn't have the best of luck with pets her father gets her, since the little kitten and the ferret had both met terrible ends before their time. She finally noticed just how quiet he was being, and twisted around a little to look up at him. "You alright?"
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco started slightly when she spoke, his arms tightening around her for a second. "Yeah, just thinking." Thinking about how your father doesn't want me to care for you but I already care for you too much and I can't go back from that. Thinking about how much worse off I would be without you no matter how hard everything is with you.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy's eyes stayed trained on his, wishing she could see through them and into his thoughts. Regardless of not being able to see his thoughts, his eyes were quite beautiful to look at. It was as though she always forgot just how clear they were until she took the time again to stare at them. "Thinking about anything interesting?"
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco shook his head, "No, not really. Just random thoughts about the potion from suggestions your father made." Liar. Filthy liar. But he knew she wouldn't ask about his random potions ideas, waiting to see what he did and probably thoroughly sick of hearing about potions today. But just in case to distract her he smiled and leaned in to give her a kiss because kissing is the best distraction he has for her.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy wrinkled her nose yet again at the mention of potions. Truthfully, every day she grew to hate potions more and more. Not only because it was never a subject that interested her or that she was particularly good at, but because it also served to take Draco away from her far too often. Pansy kissed him back lightly, but pulled away a moment later, not particularly in the mood for kissing too much. Lunch hadn't exactly been the most enjoyable, and this room really did sort of make her sad.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco gave her a funny look when she pulled away and moved his arms around her to hug her closer, wrapping her up as best he could, "What's wrong? Talk to me Kitten." He didn't like this quiet Pansy, he wanted his happy girlfriend back, the one that would kidnap him and drag him off to hogsmeade for drinks and snogs in alleyways, the one who would sit and talk to him while he made potions, even if he didn't answer.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy might have whimpered a little when he told her to talk to him, but she couldn't be sure. Her brain was stuck on the facts of the roller coaster they had going on, him pulling her close, pushing her away. She didn't know what to make of it. "Just seeing you and Dad. I guess it just scares me how you're sort of becoming like him in a sense, at least as far as dedication to what you're doing. And it's not a bad thing, not really." She paused for a moment, sorting through the jumble of thoughts in her head. "It just worries me is all."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco held her close and rested his head against hers, sighing slightly. He wanted to tell her that she didn't have to worry, that he wouldn't be like her father, that he would always be there for her birthday to wake her up with a magical present, that Christmases would always be spent happily but he knew it was a lie. His life, just like her father's, was always going to be subject to the whims of the Dark Lord. He held her close and didn't say anything for a few moments, trying to sort through his own mess of thoughts. After a while he spoke, he said the only thing that he could think of, "I'm sorry."
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy snuggled closer into him. "Don't be." Looking up at his face, she reached up to play with the ends of his hair a little where they came over his ear. "We'll figure something out. And I guess if we don't..." She looked away from him, unable to keep eye contact with the thought in her head. "If we don't I guess it wasn't supposed to be anyway." Her head fell gently onto his shoulder, hiding her face in his neck, her hand falling to rest on his other shoulder as she clung to him. She could see it all happening already, Draco becoming just like her dad had been, leaving all the time because he has to, but she also wondered if she'd even be the one stuck at home missing him. The fact that their parents probably already had people narrowed down for each of them felt sickening.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco held her a close as he could, burying his own face in her hair. "Let's not think about that. Let's enjoy now where the thing that's dragging me from you is a school project and you can still keep me company while I work on it. Where we can still spend every night together," he pressed a kiss to the side of her head to stop himself from continuing to talk, from making her false promises that would only hurt her.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy wasn't convinced and as much as she wanted to just believe him that it was all okay right now and they should focus on that, she couldn't. She'd seen how it was living with a Death Eater, and as soon as Draco took that Mark, she knew she would essentially lose him, no matter if she still technically had him after that or not. And as much as she still wanted to stop him from doing, she wanted even less to fight with him. And they always fought when she brought it up. It just wasn't worth it anymore. She was quiet, just holding onto him with her eyes closed, trying to convince herself it was okay to pretend for now that it was all okay, that he didn't have to ever leave again.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco didn't know what to say. He knew that she hated the situation and so he didn't say anything, just holding her close and giving her as much physical comfort as he could. After almost ten minutes of sitting there Draco decided enough was enough and sat up a little bit, shifting her in his lap, "Come on Pans, we should get out of here, go outside or something."
Re: Parkinson Home
For a moment she considered arguing, telling him he could go do something if he wanted, she just wanted to sit in here a while. But she snapped out of it, sighing a little and sitting up, rolling her shoulders as she stood. Holding her hand out to him, she waited. "What're we going to do? It's too cold outside for much..." Pansy is seriously grumpy and sad and needs some major cheering up.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco really hates sad grumpy Pansy and he is now on a mission to cheer her up. He took her hand and stood up, holding her at arms length and staring at her with a devilishly pensive look on his face for a moment before tugging on her hand to lead her out the room, a rather naughty grin on his face. He dragged her down the hall to their rooms, heading into hers first and pushing her at the bed to sit while he found everything they needed, tuning around to check that she couldn't see what he was grabbing until he was done. With a bundle of fabric he told her he would be right back before running into his room to grab his own stuff. Heading back to her he dumped all the stuff on the bed next to her. "We're going skating!!!"
Re: Parkinson Home
Normally Pansy would have been completely intrigued by the look on his face, making it her personal goal to figure out what he was thinking before he would show her. However, grumpy and sad Pansy was too grumpy and sad to really notice. She let him drag her along behind him, lightly jogging to keep up but otherwise lazy and uncooperative and unenthusiastic. She sat down on the bed and sort of stared at the floor, somehow not even interested enough to watch as he sorted through things and gathered a pile of whatever he had in his arms. She had to fight the urge to run after him as he left her room, though she knew he was only going down the hallway and knew he would be right back. In the circumstances, she didn't want him out of her sight. She wanted to pretend they could be together, really truly together, at all times. Blinking up tiredly at him as he dumped a pile of things on the bed, she could only sigh. "But it's cold."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco sighed and sat down on the bed the other side of her, pulling her into a hug. He rested his chin on her head and sat there for a moment with her just wrapped in his arms. He knew she didn't like that he was talking to her father and he knew that the conversation with her mother about suitors probably hadn't helped at all but that didn't mean that it was all happening now. He held her in his arms for a few more minutes, his hand rubbing gently on her back reminding her he was there before he carefully untangled them, squeezing her hands for a second before picking up her scarf and wrapping it around her neck. He pulled on his own winter gear fairly quickly before turning to make sure she got all of hers on.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy squeezed her eyes shut as he hugged her, leaning completely into his chest without caring about potentially knocking him over. He'd always catch her anyway. It wasn't fair thinking about all that was happening and was going to be happening, but she couldn't help it and couldn't keep it out of her mind. Especially not while they were at home and her mother kept going on and on about things. She sighed again when he let go, looking up at him, still with her sad puppy eyes, as he put her scarf around her neck. Once he started putting on his coat and things though, she reluctantly stood up and did the same, silently slipping on a pair of gloves as he turned and looked at her.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco didn't like the sad puppy eyes but knew that staying indoors and just hugging her, though nice and warm, wasn't going to solve anything. For the first time since he could remember he wanted to leave and go back to Hogwarts. He picked up the skates and slipped his feet into his boots, watching to make sure she did the same. Holding out his hand he gave her a smile, trying to see if she would smile back.
Re: Parkinson Home
Yes, as much as Pansy may think she just wants to stay in here and hug him, that will not cheer her up at all. In the end, it would probably only make it worse. She sat on the floor to tug her boots on and tie them up, standing again as he picked up the skates. She took his hand and looked at him, attempting a smile in return. Unfortunately it was probably the weakest smile she'd ever made in a long time and it wasn't fooling anyone.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco shook his head a little at her really sad smile and pulled on her hand so he could wrap his arm around hers while he still held her hand. With the skates in hand he lead her from the house and down and out through the back door to the pond. Here he dragged her over to a log on the edge and handed her her skates. "Come on!" He quickly changed his boots for his and stood up, spinning to face her.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy followed him as he led her along, sitting on the huge old log to change her boots to her skates. She got up as he told her to come on, a very slight smile spreading onto her features. She pushed off a little, moving slowly but gracefully across the frozen pond. She hadn't been out here in a long time, at least not for skating. Glancing back over her shoulder, she looked to see what Draco was doing.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco followed her as she moved out onto the pond and when she turned to see where he was he skated around her on her otherside and spun so he was gliding backwards in front of her, smiling. There we go, she had a little smile and it made him feel a little better that he had improved her mood a little bit.
