Re: Parkinson Home
Draco had to stop himself from laughing when Leo called Muffy 'cupcake'. From in the intonation alone Draco translate it to something along the lines of moron. Draco looked away for a moment as something small and white ran into the room trailing pink ribbons behind it. After a moment he realized it was Mrs Parkinson's new cat. Eww. Draco watched as it took one look at Leo and fled the room. When Muffy mentioned having a talk with Pansy later Draco shot her an 'I am so sorry' look. That sucked.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy practically winced at the idea of having to chat with her mother later, because it could only mean lots of talk about how she wasn't being proper enough and wasn't giving these young men a chance, and how she should arrange dates with this French heir and this Russian and this other young man in Florence, and blah blah blah for hours and hours about how great her mother thought they were. Basically, torture. "Great." She glanced sideways at Draco, meeting his look with a hidden disappointed expression. Luckily, the distraction of dinner arrived at that moment.
Re: Parkinson Home
It was easy to see that Leo wanted nothing more than to smack his wife's hand away from his, but he did no such thing. She was leaving his little girl alone, and that was all he'd intended to get out of the situation. Glancing up as a white ball of fur bounded into the room, he shot it one of his best death glares (but not the very best, because killing it by looking at it just before dinner really would put a damper on things), it turned and left the room as fast as its stupid little legs would carry it. With that, dinner appeared on the table. "Dig in." And he did.

Re: Parkinson Home
Draco could have sighed with relief and hugged the elf when the food arrived. He reached across the table and picked up the potatoes, serving himself then offering them to Pansy. When she had taken a few he put it down and served himself some of the roast. So long as it wasn't Muffy cooking Draco enjoyed the Parkinson's food.
Re: Parkinson Home
Muffy started chattering away about the latest gossip, apparently someone had made a match for their son who she had had her eye on, she shot Pansy a glare as though it was her fault, and then continued on to talk about who she had seen talking to who in London that day.

Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy scowled at the particular look her mother gave he when she announced the boy had been matched up with some local girl. Not like her father would have ever agreed to it anyway, it wasn't like she could be blamed that his parents had found a girl they liked for him. She looked back down at her plate, silent, just eating her potatoes.
Re: Parkinson Home
Interrupting Muffy, or rather talking over because she didn't stop rambling for anything short of being hit, Leo turned to Draco. "If you don't mind, I'd like to talk to you after dinner. Business, mostly." He said business, but anyone sitting here would know he meant it was about Death Eater things. He didn't look at his Pansy, knowing how she got a little upset about it all, not liking when he had to leave so often for it. Honestly he felt bad, but there were some things more important than others, and if there was a meeting at the same time as her birthday dinner, sacrifices had to be made. Leo made sure she learned that from an early age.

Re: Parkinson Home
Draco nodded at Leo, "Of course." He avoided looking at Pansy knowing she would be upset by the fact that he was being drawn away by her father to discuss Death Eater matters. For once he was thankful for Muffy, at least she would keep Pansy distracted while he was talking to Leo.
Re: Parkinson Home
Muffy watched Pansy pick at her potatoes and made a mental note to also talk to the girl about eating more healthily, there would be no way to match her with anyone if she reached the size of that Bulstrode girl. She didn't stop talking as Leo butted in to address the boy and sure enough they were done with their exchange within a couple of words.

Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy remained staring at her plate for the rest of dinner, ignoring the occasional comments her mother made in regards to her, various failures or shortcomings or potential suitors that had already been taken and how they were wasting time and Pansy wasn't being grateful for all she was doing for her to make a match. Finally, finally, finally dessert arrived, which luckily meant the awkwardness and painfulness that was dinner was nearly over. Granted, it meant one on one conversation with her mother, but that could be easily enough argued through or silently endured, and then she could escape back to her bedroom to wait for Draco to finish talking with her father. Helping herself to a bit of the cheesecake, she ate in continued silence.
Re: Parkinson Home
Dessert arrived and Leo helped himself, still ignoring his wife's ramblings for the most part, though finding himself mildly interested in what young men were being matched up, the list of potential suitors for his daughter shrinking a little, though none of the ones Muffy mentioned had been high on his list of favorites. That was a very selective and very small list indeed. Once dessert was over, he stood, suggesting he and Draco retire to his study for a little while, leaving Pansy and Muffy to keep each other company over the remaining dessert.

Re: Parkinson Home
Muffy nodded to the men as they left then turned to Pansy and kept talking, expecting her to pay attention or something. ANYWAY TO THE FEATURE EVENT.

Re: Parkinson Home
Draco helped himself to dessert and the second he was done Leo was standing up and leading him out of the room. In the Death Eater's study Draco sat down in one of the chairs as Leo did, waiting for the older man to start the conversation.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy sat there in silence, poking her fork at her cheesecake, listening to her mother rant and rant and rant until she went hoarse, and then she ranted some more. Eventually she escaped up to bed. And yes, feature event time.
Re: Parkinson Home
Leo reclined comfortably, glancing around his study fondly. Muffy wasn't allowed in here, so it was actually nicely decorated as far as a man like Leo could do. It was comfortable at least, large chairs by the fire, a bear rug spread in front of it, many bookshelves stuffed with book as well as darker items, jars of different things, potions ingredients, whiskey, and the like. He looked at Draco for a little while, analyzing him, sizing him up. Finally, he smirked slightly and spoke. "So how long have you been dating my daughter, Draco?"

Re: Parkinson Home
If Draco had had a drink in his mouth he would have spat it everywhere. He debated fainting for a moment but knew that it would leave him a little below Muffy on the Leo respect chart. He stared at Leo for a moment and considered denying it for a few long moments before looking at Leo, knowing the man appreciated directness, "Since before Thanksgiving."
Re: Parkinson Home
Leo nodded faintly at the information, staying quiet for a few moments, knowing those precious moments would most likely make the boy squirm. As much as he liked Draco, he really enjoyed messing with the kid's head. He took the moments to process the thought of his little girl dating the Malfoy heir, and found that he didn't entirely disapprove. Muffy would hate it, but that only gave him another reason to like it. Draco always seemed like a respectable boy, at least he could put on a good face for those he knew were superior to him, and he had always been polite enough. He turned his gaze on the blonde once again, giving him a stern and piercing look. "And you are behaving appropriately with my little girl?"

Re: Parkinson Home
Draco was squirming like crazy on the inside but on the outside he didn't flinch. He had to keep a good face up in front of Leo or the Death Eater would jump on it faster than Muffy threw herself at eligible boys. When Leo asked about his behavior Draco almost stopped breathing even though his face didn't change his mind started racing at a mile a minute. "Of course sir, I would never do anything inappropriate." Draco is a filthy liar.
Re: Parkinson Home
Leo actually chuckled at Draco's response. He was seventeen once. He knew what he was thinking at seventeen and was pretty damned sure that this boy was not that much different from himself. He got up from the chair and pulled out a bottle of firewhiskey, turning around to grab two small glasses from his desk before pouring a bit of the amber liquid into each. "Lying does no good, son." Not son as in actually calling him a son or son-in-law of sorts, just because that's what he's always called the kid, since he was over here almost as much as he was at his own home during Pansy's childhood. Though, the idea of Malfoy as his son-in-law was interesting to say the least. Leo pushed the thought away, as he and the missus had been set on a foreign heir for their flower. Handing one glass to Draco as he sat back down, his unreadable gaze on the boy yet again. "I'm not worried about it. Pansy can take care of herself, as I'm sure you'll learn if you try more than she knows is allowed."

Re: Parkinson Home
Draco accepted the glass from him with a nod and took a sip, "I wouldn't with her, I know her boundaries as well as she does." He was being completely honest with Leo at this point. He and Pansy never had to talk about things like that, he wasn't going to push things with her past where she wanted to go. He took another sip of his firewhiskey, not really certain where this conversation was going.
Re: Parkinson Home
"As you should. My Pansy is beloved to me, as you know, and I expect that if you are so confident as to call her your own, you will treat her with every ounce of respect and care that she deserves while she is still with you." And as suddenly as it was brought up, it was gone, the topic of Malfoy having sex with his daughter skirted as carefully and vaguely as possible while still letting him know it would be his balls on the chopping block if Leo ever heard of anything happening before it was appropriate. "So are you ready for the next meeting, then?"

Re: Parkinson Home
As Draco is ridiculously protective of his balls he will now be ridiculously careful with Pansy, at least while they're at her home. The subject change was abrupt but Draco went with it, glad to no longer being discussing the subject of his not really existent sex life. "I hope to be. I'm still not sure exactly what is happening as far as these lessons go, Bellatrix told me that we get assigned almost a tutor but that hasn't happened yet. Do you know any details about that?"
Re: Parkinson Home
And that was Leo's intent in the conversation. Protecting his little unicorn, because he loves his little unicorn. He knew Muffy didn't care any more than to care about the fact that she was more appealing to suitors - or at least their parents - if she was indeed a unicorn, but it was only Leo who cared for Pansy's own good. He took care of his flower. He nodded at Draco's question. "Yes, you'll most likely get a tutor of sorts at the next meeting. The Dark Lord will probably assess your skills and loyalty and match you up with someone to help you develop further. The final day is nearing, Draco, I hope you realize this." Of course by the final day, he meant the day that Draco was no longer a recruit, but would be expected to take the Mark and perform the duties of those who bear the tattoo on their left arms.

Re: Parkinson Home
Draco nodded to him, "I know, my father has been telling me about this day for years. Do you have any idea who I might be matched up with?" He drank more of his whiskey before setting it off to one side. He leaned back in the chair and looked around the study. He had been in here a few dozen times before and whenever he was he had enjoyed the warmth and the masculinity of the room. His father's study had been almost entirely off limits until this summer
Re: Parkinson Home
Leo shook his head. "No way to tell his intentions until he makes them known." He sensed a hint of nervousness in with the boy's excitement. Sitting his empty glass aside, he leaned forward in his chair. "You'll be fine." Relaxing back into the cushiony chair again, Leo stared into the fire. There really wasn't much else to say for now, and since it was after such a fantastic meal, he, like most men, just wanted to lounge and digest. He could talk with Draco more tomorrow. Gesturing toward a bright blue book sitting on his desk, he spoke without really looking at Draco, indirectly dismissing him if he wished to leave. "Take that back to her when you go, will you? She left it in here earlier."
