I'm going to be the first person to post in here after seeing the film.

Wow. I am drained. I should have taken tissues or something - I cried into my scarf...
And I have marks on my hand from clutching my wand super tight the entire time. >.>

Even though I already posted a huge global announcement, I'ma just make it clear again-

SPOILER ALERT. TURN BACK IF YOU DON'T WANT ANYTHING SPOILED!!!

It was amazing, it really was.
I was so so so so so so happy with it.
Didn't cry nearly as much as I thought I would, but there were a couple of parts that completely cut me.

Being the Marauder Era fangirl/nazi I am, I was most interested and nervous in how they did the Prince's Tale. Um... not 100% happy with it. >.> I think it was a beautiful sequence and Alan Rickman was AMAZING and OMG it was one of the few places I actually cried because it was lovely... and it DID get across the impression that needed to be on screen -eg you got what you needed to know out of it... but I am still not really pleased with the way they set up Lily and the Marauders in it.

And the final battle was a bit OTT, but whatever. Amazing graphics, perfectly acted, just.... BRILLIANT.

So, I am back from seeing it, so yeah.
It was amazing. There were a few things that were done differently to what I expected, but it was still brilliant.
OMG, Voldemort and Draco's awkward hug.
The Romione kiss. artyujhgfdfhjkmhgfds
The Prince's tale was amazing, but there needed to be more Marauders in it. But little Snape was just sooooo adorable.adfgbfbfddf

Also, I swear I could have punched out the sluts behind me. That is all.

Post  Krasimir Svetkova July 15th 2011, 10:14 am

Soooooo, just got back from seeing thissssssss!!!
*sobs*
Actually...I didn't cry as much as I thought I would either. But that's mainly because the stuff I really knew would get me...well, it really wasn't done the justice it deserved.

The Voldemort and Draco hug? Everyone in the theater laughed at that. Hilarious.
I was surprised...more people cheered when Bellatrix died than when Voldemort died. I think mainly it was cause Voldemort's death was...so different and it was just those 2 instead of inside the Great Hall with everyone watching.
I obviously didn't care much at all for the Romione kiss. It was a little random feeling for me anyway.
I was sort of upset they didn't do Fred's death justice. Like...really? Not that I wanted to see Fred die, I just didn't expect it to be 'oh look...he's dead now everyone cry and we're moving on to the next thing' how it felt for me anyway.

Neville was fucking brilliant. I LOVED him in this movie. And him and Luna? Hell yessssssssss!!! <3

I freaked out every time I saw Aberforth on the screen because half the time it really did seem like Dumbledore was there...they did a great job with that I think.

I was a little disappointed because there was so many parts that could have, and probably should have, been elaborated on but they only gave the essentials - the parts that would get the main points across, so you'd know everything you needed to know in as little bit as possible.

Of course I got teary eyed when I saw Remus dead. It's a full moon tonight so that made it even worse. Sad I don't like talking about that...

But...well, what really broke my heart was watching all the Snape stuff. Holy shit...like, his death scene? I couldn't even respond to it at first because I was in shock over how brutal it was. I was just sitting there staring at the screen all wide eyed and with my hand over my mouth.
I thought watching his memories would be even worse...I think the only part of that scene that really made me sad was when he went into Harry's nursery and was holding Lily and sobbing. It was heart wrenching.
When he showed Dumbledore his patronus though...I really did cry. By that point I was just like 'omgggggg sad face'

I'm just glad there were tiny little happy bits in the movie. Stuff to make things slightly less dark the whole movie. Like when McGonagall used that spell for the statues of armor and was like 'I've always wanted to use that spell' XD We all laughed.
And OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG THEY KEPT MOLLY'S EPIC LINE OF EPICNESS IN!!!!!!!!! <3 That made me soooo happy!!! Though, honestly, I wish she had just yelled it. Cause it would have been perfect if she'd done that. Ah well, at least they kept it. <3

I know there's probably more I'd love to comment on...but it's still all sinking in. Just wanted to give my first thoughts.

I'm super psyched I got to have the midnight showing experience I've been waiting for. Every year I was disappointed I didn't get to go, but now I got to have that experience and it was totally worth the almost four hour wait outside sitting on the concrete in a thin skirt... XD

I just read you guy's posts and Remus you mentioned Alan Rickman crying....
That was the only point in which I actually cried in the movie and just thinking about it now I'm crying again.
I loved how they did the Prince's Tale because it finally showed Dumbledore as a manipulative dick and Alan Rickman is God of Theatre/Movies/Life.

THAT DRACO VOLDEMORT HUG WAS THE MOST AWAKWARD MOMENT EVER

And the Malfoys walking away together was beautiful.

I have to say that although they cut a lot and changed a lot I think they really did the book justice in creating a solidly flowing movie that was both pleasing to watch and followed the pattern of them all. Obviously I would have preferred it all straight from the books but to be honest I don't expect that now and I don't sit and re-read the books right before so I know when things are wrong, I watch the movie for the pleasure of seeing things go 'boom'. And to watch Alan Rickman and Matt Lewis.

Neville FTW.

My friend and I laughed so hard at the hug! She was like "Were they Drunk when they filmed that?" and the malfoys were awesome. I clapped. My new glasses will never be the same though...

Ugh, I LOVED the Prince's Tale so much, but I will never stop having attitude about it. >.>
It was gorgeously done, and it fit with the films and Alan Rickman was so perfect (I think one of the very few times I cried instead of laughing was when he said 'Look at me' and then when 'You have your mother's eyes' came out I was like S:KJC B[P VCWIejr viefr vRFJV).
But it still annoys me the way the Marauders and Lily were handled because it really sort of vindicated Snape almost as if it was trying to paint him as a martyr and gloss over the fact that he was actually not a good person.
But given that Snape's Worst Memory was butchered in OotP, it would have been difficult for them to bring out that side of it.
It's not that I think it was badly done, it's just that it was missing something I really would've liked to see.

And I wasn't in love with the final battle either - it was over the top and cheesy IMHO. I'd have loved to have seen it play out like it did in the books, but I can understand why they went for the different style - you really do need a more dramatic climax on film. *shrug*

Have already told Andrew I will be dragging him to see it sometime soon.

Ugh the final battle made me mad!!! It's supposed be people-filled but Harry fights the Dark Lord alone, and also there is a lot of running through empty castle, which is unpleasant and doesn't go with the books. And it freaked me out when people died... they like... Exploded

Bella's death really annoyed me like that - she was HUMAN. She was a sorry excuse for a human, but she was one. She should have just keeled over and died! None of these stupid showy special effects of blowing up or disintegrating or whatever that DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!!

It was perfect.
It lived up to my expectations completely and I am completely happy with the film.
They could not have done better in my opinion.
Flawless.
Movie.
Was.
Flawless.
Completely flawless.

The princes tale though, never have I cried that hard in my entire life. It was just.
The entire movie was truly perfect in every single way possible.

I have to agree with Mya, the whole 'Bellatrix going all esplode-y' thing was a little off. Even though she's one of my top fav. characters I'd still prefer to see a dead body laying there than nothing.

I'm glad I'm going to go see it again, because honestly I think there was just so much at first that I can't remember everything properly. Everything was all trying to sink in at once.
And I still can't get the image of Snape crying out of my head. Sad His performance was absolutely flawless. I really hope he does win something for it.

Post  Albus Severus Potter July 15th 2011, 6:39 pm

I feel like I should post something...but I don't know what to say.
It was absolutely flawless.
Beginning to end.
I loved everything.
Greatest soundtrack to ever exist. Seriously.
I'm going to see it again at 3...so maybe I'll be able to form more coherent thoughts then, though I doubt it.

Neville was a BAMF.
As was McGonagall.
Luna was amazing; "Harry Potter! You listen to me right now!"
The trio was amazing.
Everything...just perfect.
They left in Pansy's line and everyone going against her to protect Harry.
The perfect way to wrap up my childhood.
I loved the Prince's Tale...and how they brought in scenes from everything. Snape...holding Lily just jegslkrhdjlkngkld
And the epilogue killed me by bringing back John Williams.
And...Fred and George together for the last time and watching Fred cowering as he got corned right before being killed. Sad
Ron crying over him.
NEVILLE'S BAMF SPEECH YOU GO NEVILLE!
Molly Weasley<3
Our theater burst into applause so many times. It was epic.
Seriously...at the beginning, the kiss, when the Order showed up to Hogwarts, when Neville first showed up...jfelskgrdh
Forget it. I don't even remember. But it was basically after every epic scene, line, or something.
Scabior....hehe. Neville took him out like a BAMF along with a ton of other DE's. Go, Neville, go.<3

Just...I loved it. All of it.
