Have you guys noticed almost every single guy gets along when girls are always bitches to eachother...]

Re: The Hogwarts Lake
sorry, sirius, but i think that you should check up on the definition of the word stereotype before you say that.
1 a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.
we never said that stereotypes are truths. but you know as well as i do that boys feel sort of pressured into going along with certain stereotypes--the tough guy, the hot guy, etc., which, although stereotypes may or may not carry truth in them, merely reinforces them.

[I don't care about dictionary definitions... Here, tell me what Stereotype I fall under then, I'm on my school's football team, I am completely random, In all Honors and AP classes, and I play guitar]

[Sirius, it's because girls have standards and we're picky and mean... also society has told us we can't fist-fight so we have to resort to bitchiness]

Re: The Hogwarts Lake
[well it changes in response to whatever a particular society and culture requires of a gender in a specific time. and there's different facets of masculinity that come into play in different roles and times so the "stereotypical guy" in one moment might be the guy who plays sports and video games and acts like a tool with all his mates, and the next minute it'll be the guy who runs the household/is head of family.... and I'm just gonna go put the historian back in it's box.... sorry, I'll shut up now ]

[Sirius, you are the stereotypical guy at my school... sorry honey! you aren't an original...]
Re: The Hogwarts Lake
I would need to know you to be able to really look at you as a person, Sean.
Plus, I don't mean stereotype in the way that every person has a stereotype. I'm talking about stereotypes in the more general sense: the sort of invisible pressure that says, you know what, don't do x, y, and z--i guess more of the conformity stereotypes. I'm not implying that there is anything wrong with not going along with these stereotypes, in fact, I think that it takes a braver, better person to do that, just that being aberrant is, by definition, less common than not.
Oh, and two things about definitions: 1. you need to know what words mean. Dictionaries are good for that, don't deny it and 2. Argument is always based on fact. Fact, at an extremely simple level, can be found in the dictionary. There is no room to doubt that, only room to build off of it.
And bytheway, you start on girls, you will lose whatever argument you're getting yourself into. I'm completely a feminist, and am also very stubborn.

Re: The Hogwarts Lake
hahaha.. because most of them are not harry potter fans, not good looking, and have very very little discernible personality... at least not one that is worth anything
Re: The Hogwarts Lake
I must say that I am not a discriminating person.... I'll pick on anyone and everyone! Equally and fairly, I have plenty of hate and rage to go around!
Re: The Hogwarts Lake
[Did you notice I gave one arguement then gave up, I remembered never to argue with a girl...unless you want a really bad headache and useless information floating around your head. Which is why I quit! *puts up arms* I surrender.]

Re: The Hogwarts Lake
we have no idea whether sirius is good looking.
i'm either gonna assume that he's not, or is very young, which is why he had to resort to using a picture of a model.
I'm leaning towards him being young, though. You can tell from the way he talks:)
