Re: A Cluster of Birches
"Vell, it looks like you have something in common vith all of my friends so far," Viktor says happily, wishing that Reg's friends liked him a little more considering a lot of them hate Viktor.

Re: A Cluster of Birches
*Hermione scoffs a little at the word 'respectable' because she's kind of tactless like that.*
It's barbaric, is what it is. Disgusting. I've heard of House Elves who've had to iron their own hands as punishment!
*She smiles a little at Viktor, glad to be getting along with Reg and not terrifying him for once.*

Re: A Cluster of Birches
Regulus narrows his eyes slightly at her scoffing, but doesn't say anything because she's Viktor's friends and not all mudbloods are that bad, I mean, Faye's not so bad at all. "Yeah. It's upsetting, really. Not that Kreacher would ever need to do that- I treat him right, and so he's loyal, and obedient. Friendship is all he requires."

Re: A Cluster of Birches
*Hermione bristles a little at the term 'obedient', but she lets it slide. After all, employees do need to be able to follow instructions. Reasonable instructions, anyway. She smiles slightly and shifts a sleepy baby in her arms.*
I've always felt that if you offered someone friendship and respect, they'd usually respond by doing the right thing... I hope to move towards a world where we don't need to force House Elves to do things against their will, but work in an environment of mutual respect...blah blah blah

Regulus nods in agreement. "I would never force him to do anything- and I shouldn't have to. I respect him, and so he respects me and my decisions. He trusts me to look after him, and I do- I would never let harm befall him. He's been good to me, and so I offer him the same in return. It's a symbiotic relationship- as it should be."

Viktor is shocked that he could love Regulus Black even more, but he does after hearing Regulus talk about house elves and such. He also thinks that Regulus will be an amazing father to little Trent.

Re: A Cluster of Birches
*Hermione stares at Regulus, surprised by the sincere care he shows for Kreacher. Personally, she'd prefer House Elves have more free will, than simply have kinder masters in control, but she's touched that Regulus is so passionate about the issue.*
I wish more people were like you, Regulus. Honestly - S.P.E.W just doesn't get the interest I feel it deserves!

Re: A Cluster of Birches
"You're right. Perhaps I'll talk to my cousins this summer- I somehow doubt they'll be knitting," he says with a snort of laughter, "But they do have money. And money is good for things like this. Not that I really have any shortage of it myself. Do you think you could use some? It's not like I have a better use for it, really- honestly, what's a man to do with this much gold?" he said with an eye roll.

*Hermione bites her lip, because she feels awkward taking money sometimes, but nods.*
I've tried to do a couple of fundraisers, but nothing has been really successful so far. I'd be grateful for the donation - I'd like to get a newsletter going, and maybe pamphlets to raise awareness, but I could never afford the printing costs.

Re: A Cluster of Birches
Regulus shrugged. "I don't have anything on me at the moment, but I've probably got a hundred or so galleons back in my dorm. I had Kreacher send me money on a regular basis when I actually needed it, but I haven't spent so much as a knut since I stopped using," he said, trying to figure out where he'd left it all. "I don't really have any better use for it."

*Hermione's eyes widen. Before being disowned, her parents were never short of money, but that much gold was never loose change to her... She nods, smiling.*
That would be wonderful - we could do so much with that!
*At that moment Kiora decides to make her smelly nappy known, because Lenore has to go run a training course in half an hour and she's freaking out a bit. Hermione wrinkles her nose.*
Oh. I think that's my cue to leave. I'll see you boys later...
*She leaves*

Re: A Cluster of Birches
"No problem. Better than spending it on crack or smack," he said with a bitter laugh. "I'll see you around, I guess." Regulus turns to Viktor and smiles, then wraps himself up in his lover's arms. "I love you, you know. So so so so so much," he said with a happy look. "The baby was cute."

Regulus looked wide eyed. "I'm not sure that's a good idea. I might squish it."

Viktor laughed. "Squish it? I've held her a million times and I haven't hurt her...and I'm a lot bigger than you if you have not yet noticed."

Regulus still looked wary. "But you're careful and gentle, I know you are," he said affectionately, kissing his lover tenderly. "I'm not gentle. I don't ever have to worry about being gentle, with you."
