Remus continued walking, lost in thought, and didn't stop until he found himself almost standing right in front of Sev. He froze his facial expression changing between surprise, anger, and embarrassment. In the name of all that is magical why the fuck do I always have to run into him? He couldn't help but feel anger for what had happened the last time he'd seen Severus, the argument between Sev and Hermione, but then he also couldn't help but feel awkward and embarrassed knowing he had cried for the man as soon as he'd left.

Remus almost turned to leave. He really wanted to comment on the fact that Severus looked terrible but he'd hold his tongue...possibly.
"You should be glad I didn't lose it the other day you know. You would look worse than you already do right now." He mentally smacked himself for letting the words slip out. He really was glad though that he'd kept himself under control and hadn't beaten the crap out of Severus like he'd wanted to.

Severus looked up at the sound of Remus' voice, surprised that he hadn't even heard him approaching, and he stood up, wincing from the not-quite-healed wounds from yesterday. He opened his mouth to speak, but closed it, at a loss for words. He didn't even have the energy to look angry, much less retort. He looked at him with sadness in his eyes, trying to remind himself that he hated Remus, and throwing his arms around him and kissing him was not what he wanted to do, but oh, it was. He finally manged to say a single word; a word he was surprised he honestly meant, with all his heart. "Sorry," he whispered, holding back his tears.

As much as he'd wanted to stay angry at Severus at the moment he felt his anger slipping away. Damn...
He wasn't going to yell, he didn't want to yell, but he could just talk right? Talking was better than yelling.
"Look...you really shouldn't have said all those things yesterday. It's not like she doesn't regret all she's done." He rubbed at his face tiredly and sighed. The whole alcohol thing was wearing him out but at least it seemed like she was getting better. He was doing all he could. "And...I'm the one who's sorry. For putting you through all that crap. You didn't deserve any of it."

Severus looked at him, not sure what to feel. "Right. I'm sorry, for saying those things. She didn't deserve it, fine." He stared Remus in the eyes, the pain returning as he took in Remus' last words. "Don't lie to me. I'm sick of lies. Don't pretend that my pain is your fault, I don't want to hear that bullshit. I'm sorry, that I wasn't good enough. Just know that I tried, even if what I had to offer just wasn't enough for you." He held his gaze, his voice devoid of emotion- he wasn't going to pretend like he deserved a chance with Remus. He wasn't going to delude himself anymore, blaming Remus for what had happened. Severus had gotten exactly what he deserved.

Remus kept Sev's gaze as long as he could but had to look away eventually. He may not love Sev like he had anymore but that didn't mean that he wasn't still attracted to those eyes. He sighed. "Why can't it be my fault too? Do you think that I think I'm all high and mighty and that nothings ever good enough for me? You did your best and that's what counts. It's my fault for running you over and not taking more consideration of your feelings. You think you deserved it all, that you're worthless and never going to be good enough for anyone, but you're wrong. I may not have been the one for you Severus but there is someone out there for you. So stop thinking so poorly of yourself."

"You didn't seem to disagree with your precious Hermione last night," he said, looking at him with disdain. He didn't think he could handle any more bullshit, any more lies. He couldn't believe the nerve Remus had, saying this to him, when he'd so obviously believed it was the truth when she'd said the words they'd all been thinking out loud.

"Oh for Merlin's sakes Severus." General annoyance was creeping back in. "If you hadn't noticed, which you probably hadn't, I was doing my best trying to control myself so I wouldn't beat your face in because you'd insulted my girlfriend rather rudely. I was hardly paying attention to what was being said otherwise even though I could still hear it. I was a bit annoyed that she would say such things to you as well. In fact I think you both were being rather rude but hey what can I do about it? Not like either of you would have listened to me anyways." He crossed his arms tightly, "Look, you obviously hate me, and I...I don't know what I even think about you at the moment so let's just call this quits and try not to run into each other anymore. I'm sure you'd rather not see my face again and I could really use some sleep right now."

Severus still gazed at him, his eyes unmoving as he stared into Remus'. There were a thousand things he'd like to do right now, a million things he wanted to say, but he didn't- he just stood there, staring at him, hoping Remus couldn't see the extent to which he was suffering. "I don't hate you, Remus. I love you. Go, if it's what you want, if it's what'll make you happy," he said, his voice breaking as he choked back tears.

Remus turned and walked off heading around the lake. He didn't care if he fell asleep outside but right now he just wanted to be out in the fresh air.

Severus watched him walk away, waiting until he was a good distance away before he let the tears flow freely. If only I could have been the man you deserved. He grabbed his things and left for the common room, deciding that he'd have to deal with his guilt and talk to Pansy, or he'd just implode on himself. He needed his friend, as selfish as it was to go to her, when she had every right to torture him to death. He sighed and resolved that whatever she might do when she found out would have to wait until later- right now, he was desperate.

[And Slytherins, this is where I go back to the common room and have the convo with Pansy I just finished]

Severus, now having made sure poor little Kerbit was okay and had a band aid on his booboos, wandered down to the lake, taking a seat some distance away from the large group of people also out tonight.

Draco would have gone to the area by the lake where he spent most of his time, if it hadn't been invaded by annoying Gryffs and the other useless houses which names he didn't care about out. That was just how useless they were. He noticed Severus and muttered, "Oh. Um, hey..." They hadn't spoken since the incident at the Astronomy Tower. This was bound to be a teensy bit awkward.

Severus looked up at the sound of Draco's voice. "Hey," he said, smiling a little. The giddiness and joy from earlier had worn off a bit, but he was still in an insanely good mood. "I hear things went well with Pansy last night," he said, grinning as he remembered how happy Pansy had been earlier.

Draco grinned and ran a hand through his hair, thinking about it. Although he had probably a passed severe illness to Pansy, he couldn't see any other down side to their conversation. They had confessed their feelings for the second time and it hadn't changed one bit. He just had to show her that he wouldn't let them stray down the same path as they did the first time. He chuckled, "Yeah, far better than the first half of the night!" Maybe it was too soon to joke about his near suicide, but he couldn't help it. He laughed at himself for even thinking about it, "I'm hoping it stays this way, for as long as possible."

I made a fail and panicked when I only found the season two dvds, then remembered I took the first season out last night because I was going to start it then. Oops. ALSO. Severus laughed a little uneasily, not quite seeing the humor in his words. "Er... yeah, the first half wasn't so nice... SPEAKING OF WHICH. You threw Kerbit! I think he deserves an apology. He has a nice Pokemon band aid now, no thanks to you! His head is cracked," he said sadly, remembering poor little Kerbit.
