Severus blushed slightly and kissed her gently on the lips. "You're so sweet," he whispered, smiling happily. "Yeah, Narcissa was so upset later, she was going on about how she thought she'd gotten between me and you," he said with a laugh, remembering Cissa's panicking. "She kept trying to slip off so I could be with you."

"Ah, next time I meet her, I must thank her for her efforts...however in vain." Lily replied, her tone soft. "Though she should have enjoyed her last opportunity to call such a singularly handsome and charming man her date." She grinned, nudging him gently with her head. "You're sweet too, Sevvy."

Severus broke out into fits of laughter. "You're ridiculous, Lily. Merlin, I love you," he said, still cracking up. "You know, if you were anyone else, I'd have hexed you for calling me that," he said with a grin.

Lily pretended to be offended, and moved from under his arm. "Hexes, for honest compliments? So violent, Severus Snape!" She laughed, then kissed him. "I do mean it you know. At your better moments, nothing short of handsome and charming applies....the rest of the time...maybe good-looking and kind?" She giggled. "I did mean that, honest! You making me laugh about it now too!" She grinned, but her tone was joking accusation.

"You're completely mad, you know that? Absolutely bonkers. And you are likely to be the first and last person to ever say such absolutely ludicrous things about me," he said with a grin, wrapping her in his arms and kissing her on the forehead. "Doesn't mean I don't like hearing it, though."

"Not until now. " As Lily felt his lips brush her cheek, she turned, kissing his lips. "Compliments...such wonderful, flattering things. Can make one off-balance...with an inflated head. Not to you, my Sev, though. No.." She kissed him again with a smile. "Not you."

Lily shrugged. "It's...Pansy. I'll go, for you, Sev. Technically I should hate her by association, and I can't promise to be the nicest person ever to her. She's been there for you, but she's hurt my friends...I will go for you though." She smiled. "And i'll try to be nice." She paused, her smile faded. "Wait...this is a Slytherin lake party. What about the nutty people drunk out of their minds? You know that really isn't the sort of place I fit in, Sev..."

"It's that Gryffindor girl Katie's party too, so there'll be a lot of people you know there is well, is my guess," he replied, holding her hand. "If you don't want to go, I understand. I was just offering in case you were interested," he said, kissing her on the cheek.

I...can't tell him yet. I don't know why...but I can't. Lily just smiled, and reached up to move her hand to the back of his neck. She kissed him, trying to convey what she still couldn't put into words into the kiss.
