Re: Dock by the lake

*Hermione has just enough time to regret her decision - well, at least regret that she's left her wand on the dock - before she's pulled under by her legs. She twists and wriggles about, but can't even kick her legs against the hold he's got on them, so has to settle for waving her arms about frantically, trying to get free. She yells at him, but, since she's underwater, all that comes out is a nice long stream of bubbles.*

Remus gets whacked in the face by one of her flailing arms. That'll leave a lovely bruise. He lets go of her legs and surfaces, taking in a deep breath. He waits for her to surface, grinning to himself.

*Hermione knows Remus doesn't bruise as easily as that. Which is a good thing - she'll feel horrible if she bruises him. When she feels him release her legs, she kicks for the surface, taking in deep gulps of air as soon as she breaks through. Some water goes up her nose, and she coughs and splutters even as she laughs.*

Giving in already?

*She pokes her tongue out.*

HOLY SHIT, MOLLY'S OUT OF THE KITCHEN! ALERT THE MEDIA!
Anyway.... Molly is here, nomming on Unspecial Cookies and dangling her legs over the end of the dock. Not really doing anything, just hanging out, enjoying the sunshine. But that's ok, she put lots of sunscreen on and has her sunglasses on. But no hats. The Prewett hair, after all, can not be disturbed.

Kingsley hasn't been about in a while. Surprise surprise. Ah well, he's back now. He spots Molly and decides to join her. Totally big smile on his face, cause Molly is awesome and he's missed her. Which is sort of strange for him, cause he never really misses people that much. "Hey Molly. May I join you?"

Molly looks up, glad for her sunnies that mean she doesn't have to shield her eyes to find out the identity of the gigantic shadow that's just fallen over her. She grins, glad she can blame the sun, and the heat of the day for the slight colour in her cheeks.
"Oh, hi Kingsley! Sure!" She wriggles over a little and moves the box of cookies too, making room for him on the end of the dock with her. "How are you?"

Kingsley sits down next to her, glad he's wearing his totally manly flipflops so that he can take them off and stick his feet in the water. "I'm good. How are you doing?"

Molly swings her bare feet back and forth. They don't even nearly reach the water. Poor Molly. She picks up the box of cookies - well isn't that nice, they happen to be Oatmeal Cookies - and offers it to him. "Cookie?" She asks with a bright smile. "I'm doing alright, I suppose. Just thought I'd catch some sunshine, but, like, I think it'll end up turning into an experiment on how long it takes me to burn to a crisp," she chuckles, because despite the multitude of sunscreen, she totally forgets to reapply every time, and loses track of time the way she does, and it all just goes downhill.

[Kingsley actually spoke up for once in my head and said he wouldn't mind helping Molly reapply sunblock. Oh geez.]

Kingsley smiled and took the cookie. "Thanks." He nommed on it. "Amazing. Absolutely amazing. You really do make the best cookies, Molly." He grinned then looked up towards the sun. He hadn't even thought about sunblock. Oh well. "Did you remember sunblock? I wouldn't want you to get burnt. That'll be painful later on."

[BAHAHAHAHAHAHA Molly just turned a million different shades of red that even quaffle can't cover right now.....]

Molly grins so wide her mouth would hurt if she didn't grin so much all the time. "Really? Thanks! I really, like, love baking so I'm glad you like them. I baked a few different batches the other day, but Gideon totally stole some of them when I wasn't looking," she says, but decides not to explain that it was Special Cookies, and the reason she wasn't looking was that she had crashed and passed out on the bench in the Kitchens. Some people just might not understand, and for some reason she actually cares what Kingsley thinks about her. She smiles at his thoughtfulness towards her pale skin in the sun. "Yeah, I've got sunscreen on. It's, like, crucial when you're a redhead with super pale glows-in-the-dark type skin. Except you know how I lose track of time, so sometimes I forget to go inside before it wears off and then... oops - ouch."

Kingsley winced in sympathy. "I can only imagine. Well, how about I let you know if I see you starting to get too red? That way you'll be sort of saved from a lot of sun burn?" She was already getting lightly pinkish. He didn't want her to burn.

Molly laughs, and wonders if he can even tell the difference between the parts where she's blushing, and the parts that really are from the sun. "Thanks. I still haven't found that watch that yells at me not to forget stuff, so that would be totally awesome." Her legs swing back and forth continually as she takes another cookie and indicates that he is welcome to help himself. "So, like, what have you been doing since I saw you last? No more bruises on your head? Ducking through doorways and all that? Man, the portrait hole to Gryffindor must be a total pain for you as well! I always feel sorry for the first years that need help through, because I know their pain," she giggles.

Kingsley was being sneaky. Now he gets to stare at Molly more and she'll probably just figure he's watching to make sure she doesn't get burnt. "I haven't been up to much. Just studying mostly. And no more bruises, see." He tilted his head towards her so she could see. "The portrait hole is rather troublesome, I'll admit. If you'll believe it, I had terrible trouble with it my first year. I was actually rather short." Which I totally just made up because I can. "Wasn't till early my second year that I grew this much."

Molly would applaud Kingsley's cleverness if she ever figured it out. You know, after she was done with the blushing. Automatically, she runs a hand over the back of his head... oh, that feels nice... kind of smooth, and warm, and.... oh, right, she's inspecting for bruises here... oops. She drops her hand when he mentions how he used to be short, her jaw dropping as she stares incredulously. "NO way!" She starts to laugh in disbelief. "You're, like, totally making that up to try and make me feel better, right? Like the years of short jokes are all totally worth it because a growth spurt is right around the corner?" She keeps laughing, finding the idea of Kingsley being anything but what he is today incomprehensible. He just seems like one of those guys that was just.... born manly and tall and broad and.... ok Molly, stop staring. She turns her eyes towards the water hastily, trying to clamp down a little on her giggles.

Molly laughs more. Such a happy girl, she is. "Ok, ok, I believe you. You don't seem like the type of guy who is kidding. Like, ever. But I totally want to see pictures, just to be certain!" And not because those pictures must be totally adorable. Nope, not at all. She throws a hand out to the side to stop herself toppling over when he nudges her, because she's still giggling a little. Then she flushes some more when he says he likes her the way she is. Dammit, Molly, Prewetts are used to compliments! WHAT IS WITH THE BLUSHING, GIRL? She looks back at him with a huge grin and pushes her slipping sunglasses back up her nose with one finger.
"When I was four, and Alice started outgrowing me, I asked my Mum why Alice kept growing but I didn't seem to and my brothers, like, had a field day. They told me that our Dad had, like, put bricks on my head as an experiment and that's why I couldn't grow so much anymore and I, like, totally believed them for a year until I asked my Dad what he'd been thinking. After he laughed for, like, ten minutes straight I sort of figured out that they were kidding. Really, though, by that age I should've known not to believe a thing that came out of my brothers' mouths because it was their life's work to torment me. Until we discovered that I'm, like, a way better cook than Mum, and that's about the time their attitude changed, funnily enough."

Kingsley grinned. "I definitely don't kid around much. You'll definitely get to see some pictures, don't worry." He smiled at her story. "Well, I'm not totally surprised their attitude would change then. You must be really good, I can tell by the cookies."

"Thanks. I am, like, a totally awesome cook," she says with a smile. She doesn't mean to brag, but it's true, so why not admit it, right? "So do you ever cook yourself, or are you like my mother, who has in the past proven that it is indeed possible to burn water?" she laughs. "I really like cooking and baking - it's kinda like Potions, actually, you throw the right things together, in the right quantity and right order, and give it the right heat and timing, and stuff, like, just happens the way it's supposed to. It's kinda cool."

Kingsley shrugged. "I'm not too bad at it. I've had to cook a lot when my parents were away, so I've gotten better. When I first started trying though, I was definitely one who could prove it was indeed possible to burn water." He laughed. "I take it you're good at Potions then?"

"Yeah, not too bad at it, I guess," Molly shrugs, referring to Potions. "It just, like, makes sense to me is all. I kinda like Charms, too, because there's so many nifty little spells to learn there. But Arithmancy..." she wrinkles her nose very cutely, effectively expressing her opinion on that particular subject. "Your parents are away a lot?" she asks with interest, and then Mya makes up a bunch of stuff that if the other Prewetts don't like can promptly be disregarded and changed up for 2.0... "Mine too. It's usually just the four of us, and Gideon and I sort of look after things," she explains with an airy wave of her hand. "We make it.... well, I couldn't even call it 'organised chaos' because there isn't a single organised thing about it," she laughs, "I guess we just make sure it's fed and looked-after chaos!"

"Charms is pretty interesting. Defense is my favorite class. I'm pretty good at it, I guess." He laughed. "It sounds like a lot of fun at your house. I can only imagine. But yeah, my parents are away a lot. It's okay though. I'm pretty good at handling things while they're gone."

"I suppose it must be a good thing you're good at Defense," Molly laughs then. "I couldn't imagine anyone being fool enough to have a go at you, anyway," she chuckles, her eyes, thankfully hidden behind her glasses, flicking up and down his tall, broad, and solid form a couple of times. "Still, doesn't it get lonely, all by yourself so much? I know you're not talkative like me, but doesn't the quiet get, like, eerie or something after a while?" she asks, genuinely curious because she cannot fathom a world without almost constant noise and interruption.

Kingsley looks out over the water then turns his head to her, shaking his head. "Nope. The quiet's alright." Nothing scares Kingsley. Nope. Nothing. He's good at handling situations, calmly and carefully. "It's not that I don't like talking, or listening to others talk, I just like the quiet. Must be just how I am. I like listening to you talk though." He doesn't want her to think he doesn't like it that she talks so much. He does like it. He likes Molly. Yep yep.

"Oh, good," Molly says, smiling with relief. "I was worried for a second there that you really would end up, like, breaking the duct tape out on me. It has happened in the past, really. I'm totally not even kidding."
She turns her head, looking out at the water as the heat prickles lightly at her skin. "It's not that I can't be quiet, even though I seem to want to talk as soon as I get within earshot of another human being.... or sometimes even a puppy or something, but whatever. It's just that I, like, don't actually get time to be quiet. At home if I'm not making noise then someone else is, and here every time I've sat down for five minutes by myself ~~to roll a joint~~, someone shows up. I'm like a people person. People see me and go 'ooh, a person!' And then conversations happen, and there's no quiet."

Kingsley smiled and shook his head. "Don't worry. No duct tape. And if you'd like, I'll scare off the people who try." He placed a hand lightly on her shoulder. "You're really friendly and sweet, so I can see why people talk to you. If you'd like some quiet occasionally though, why not find some special secret place you can go to when you'd like to be alone? That may work."
