The Quidditch Pitch - Page 14 Empty Re: The Quidditch Pitch

Post  Angelina Johnson June 10th 2011, 3:43 pm

Angelina is startled as Jack shoots away, and she leans flat on her broom, catching up to him in an instant. She doesn't try to help him, however - it seems like he actually has some idea of what he's doing, and he regains his balance without her help. "Yes, like that, actually. And you're doing just fine - being able to correct is really helpful, just like driving. If that's what driving is like." She says, a little confused at her own comparison, seeing as she has never driven before herself.

"There's less of a drop in a car," Jack chuckles. "Alright, let's try this again," he smirks, and leans forward at a much slower rate than before. He takes off again, but it is a much more sedate journey. "Well who knows, maybe one day I'll be able to repay you with driving lessons in exchange for flying lessons. I don't have a car, so that could be a bit of a hurdle, but I've overcome bigger obstacles."

Angelina giggles. "Well, that much is true, I know that." She watches as he has another go, flying forwards properly. "Very good, Mr. Smith." She praises, smiling widely. "And maybe, one day. We might have to see. Who knows, we may not even be friends in the future." She admits, before shrugging and moving back to the task at hand. "Now, try turning, just lean to the side you want to turn - but be careful. If you lean too much, you'll end up on the grass."

Jack smirks and keeps his ideas on asking for rewards from his teacher for good behaviour to himself, because he'll most certainly end up on the grass when Angelina smacks him off his broom. "Avoid the green stuff, check," he says airily, and makes a slow, somewhat wide left turn. After a moment spent concentrating on the task, he speaks. "That's true - we may not be friends later. But why focus on the downsides? So I'm just going to keep hoping for the best, and assume we'll know each other in the future, because if anything is going to change I don't want to know until I have to."

Angelina would most definitely smack him off his broom, hopefully to faceplant on the grass, if he were to insinuate such a thing, although she cannot completely rule it out for the future, as much as she would like to. And she kind of hates me for typing that, even though it is what she was thinking. "Yep, definitely a plan. And we might not, but yes, you have a good plan. Wait until the future for the future. Sounds like a good plan." She does another little loop around Jack, still smiling. "Why don't you try again, try turning - just don't use your hands. It's good practice for your promising Quidditch-playing future!"

Mya won't let Jack read that right now, just to keep her head a tiny bit quiet. "Such concerns are definitely best left for Future!Jack and Future!Angelina," Jack nods, happy that Angelina is so readily on board with his theory. He smirks as she tells him to try again without the use of his hands. "No hands? Well, this sounds like a job for my strong and manly thighs!" he declares, and this time he leans to the right, using his thighs to steer the broom and leaving his hands only for security. The turning circle is still quite wide, and his manoeuvres relatively slow, but his steering is smooth.

AJ apologises for that, and hopes that Jack stays quiet, at least for the moment. "Indeed," Angelina agrees, before watching him have another go, and she's actually quite impressed with how fast he's picking this up. "Right, well, let's not have that discussion, shall we? But nicely done, Jack. Keep practising, and you'll be ready for team tryouts in no time at all. Trust me." She explains, zooming off at what seems like nought to sixty seconds in about one second. She speeds, hands free, around the Pitch, before landing and dismounting near Jack. "See, just takes practice."

Convincing himself that later Angelina is going to think of Jack's muscular and manly thighs and smile -or blush, whatever- Jack smirks and watches her as she zooms off on a lap around the pitch. When she lands and dismounts, he fixes his eyes on the path ahead and takes off on his own lap around the pitch. He's just a little jerky in some places, and nowhere near as fast as Angelina herself had been, but he makes it in a reasonable time and without any major mistakes. He lands, stumbling a few steps as the momentum of flight sharply contradicts the suddenness of hard ground beneath his feet, then disentangles the broomstick from between his legs and turns to grin cockily at Angelina. "What can I say? I'm a fast learner. It helps when I've got such a great teacher, particularly one I could pay attention to all day," he winks.

Angelina will not divulge her later thoughts to Jack, thank you very much. She watches, admiring his form and her teaching handiwork as he makes his way around the pitch. He is slower and a little wobblier, but he shows great potential - who knows, he might even make the Ravenclaw team soon, if he tries. "Well, that is certainly true. On both accounts, to be sure." She says, grinning and leaning on her broom.

Jack's imagination will happily fill in plenty, so that's alright. He grins at Angelina, drawing a few steps nearer and watching the space between them slowly disappear. "And I do so like paying attention to you," he says, his voice deep and smooth, and there is now only a few very small inches between them.

Angelina has no doubts that Jack's probably overactive imagination fills in just enough, thank you very much. She stays still as he draws closer and closer, resisting the natural instinct to step away from a person who is coming towards her. If anything, she leans forward a little. "You think I haven't noticed?" She says, but her voice shakes just a little as she says it. She is now acutely aware of how there is virtually no air between them, but she looks up nevertheless, looking into his blue eyes, and suddenly she can't move or turn away.

Jack smirks; he hears the slight tremble in Angelina's voice, but he loves the way she's still standing her ground, holding his gaze, challenging him every step. He swallows lightly, this is the moment where everything becomes wonderful, he gets left alone with a handprint on his cheek. Slowly, giving her time to realise what's coming and react if she wants to, he lifts a hand to her face, stoops down, and kisses her. It is soft, and brief, he pauses a moment to read her reaction before moving in again.

Angelina still can't move - she is stuck, but as Jack's hand touches her face, she moves towards it, just a little. When he kisses her, she doesn't respond; part of her brain is telling her to snog him back, but the more dominant part is telling her to be careful, to go slow. As he moves away a little, she finally breaks eye contact, looking down at the small space still left between them. Her empty hand (as she is still holding her broom in the other) reaches out and finds Jack's, and she slips her hand in his. Then she looks up again, smiles, and stands on tiptoes to return the light, gentle kiss.

Jack pauses, feeling Angelina's hesitation. He waits, patient, because she doesn't seem upset so he simply gives her the time she needs to catch up, and smiles as he is finally rewarded by her free hand slipping into his, and a beautiful smile before she returns the soft kiss. Much as Jack would love to dive right in, he restrains himself; slow and steady wins the race. Not that he is thinking of Angelina as a race, but that it's definitely better to take it easy than to push and end up with her gone and nothing to look forward to. He lets the kiss continue for a few more seconds, then pulls his mouth back from hers. He does not step back even as he smirks down at Angelina. "Was that because I'm a model student?" he quips, but his thumb brushes over her knuckles in a way that he hopes makes it clear he's only playing around.

Angelina is glad he restrains himself - this is, after all, her first second date and she still has no idea what she's doing, really. She looks up at his smirking and rolls her eyes. "I would hope not. You're not my first flying student, and we can't have me making a reputation for myself, can we?" She replies, the movements of Jack's thumb sending heat coursing up her arm. In the best way possible, of course.

"Well, we could always just tell the world that I'm the best student you've ever had, and a special case," Jack responds, grinning as if to say 'problem solved'. His eyes flicker over Angelina's face, still warm from the combination of the exercise of flying and their kiss, and his grin deepens. She is just incredibly sexy to him, and he doesn't even realise [though Mya does trololol] that with his words he has just left himself wide open.

Angelina can't help but giggle at Jack's words [and AJ spent 10 minutes laughing and then trying to come up with a witty retort, JSYK]. "A special case, hey?" She remarks. "Well, that's one way to put it. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about your 'specialness'. It'll be our secret." She smirks as she watches his face for a reaction. She can tell that he was so preoccupied looking at her that he wasn't listening, and while she may not be the wittiest person she knows, sometimes there are opportunities too good to pass up. And that was certainly one of them.

"Mhmm," Jack mumbles distractedly. Then what she has said actually sinks in and his face screws up, his head pulling back a little so he can regard her properly. "Wait, what?" He catches up, and face palms. "Walked right into that one," he mutters, then winks at her. "Well, thanks, I guess? Good to know I can count on your discretion." He shakes his head, laughing it off and planning to kill Mya in her sleep.

Angelina smirks as Jack unwittingly agrees with her. "You really, really did. Guess my stunning good looks are too much of a distraction for you..." She says, then blinks. She's worried that in her attempts to be witty, she might actually go too far and say something stupid. Like then, but she shrugs it off. If Jack wants to hang around, he can learn to deal with her. "I won't tell anyone unless it's required by law. Then, I'm telling them everything," She grins.

"I never could resist a girl in shorts," Jack sighs, as if that is the one great lament of his life. He shrugs playfully. "Fine, fine, wouldn't want you on the wrong side of the law because of me, even if I do have a body so amazing it should be outlawed. I just request that if you do have to tell the world everything that transpired here today, you make sure to mention how damned sexy I look," he smirks, his thumb still brushing lazily over the back of her hand.

"Such a charmer," Jack quips, chuckling lightly as he lifts Angelina's hand long enough to kiss the back of it, then releases it at last. "You talk as if you could hardly stand to be seen with me. Which is absolutely false, I'm sure, and very much hope, because I quite like being seen with you. Besides, the false assumption that I might be good for getting quidditch team secrets makes me an absolute hit with the Claw house team," he adds, joking of course and grinning to show it.

Angelina just watches as Jack kisses the back of her hand, her blush returning to her cheeks even though it's just a light one. "Oh, come on. Do you think if I could hardly stand to be seen with you I would have let you kiss me?" She says simply, the blush staying on her cheeks at her words. She forgets to address the last part of what Jack says - for starters, she knows he's joking, and he would be lucky to get any Quidditch team secrets out of her anyway, to be honest.
