"Well, no, but I quite liked that, too, so if by some chance it was just an oversight on your part I wasn't going to draw attention to it in case you remembered to stop me next time," he returns, his eyes fixed on the light, gorgeous stain of pink warming her cheeks.

"You quite liked it? I would never have guessed..." Angelina remarks with a smirk and a light shrug, and she leans up to press another light kiss to Jack's lips. Before he can react though, she moves back, still smirking a little. "Well, you need to keep in mind this is only my first second date - although it is mu best first second date, I have to say. And besides, I'll only stop you if I think you need stopping, and that's all I'm going to say on the matter."

Jack stops, holding perfectly still as Angelina kisses him briefly and lightly, then pulls away. He half hopes that she'll return for more, but when she speaks again he just smiles. "Glad to hear it. On all accounts," he says, sincerely. "And I'm pretty pleased to be ranking right at the top of your first second date experiences. My pride would have to do some serious damage control if I wasn't showing you a good time," he says, and for once he doesn't mean any innuendo about it. That comes later, down the track. He grins at Angelina, looking around. "Hey, maybe next time I'll even graduate to quaffle work, right?" Once he gets the hang of not wobbling so much...

Angelina is not quite ready for more, but she hopes that Jack understands and assures him that when she is ready, he will know. "Well, to be honest, if you weren't at the top I think we should both be a little concerned." She comments. "You never know, maybe you will. You might have to do a little more work on not falling over first, though..."

Jack knows, and although he is hopeful he can be surprisingly patient when he thinks someone is worth the wait. And, well, he's still waiting, so that says a lot. He snaps his fingers as if to say 'damn'. "Right. Not falling over. Knew I was forgetting something. See - lucky you're here to teach me, Angelina," he winks. "Just, no bludgers. Ever. Really don't fancy the idea of them," he admits shamelessly.

Angelina feel sorry for all the girls he has rejected now, just because they wanted to take it slow. Poor them. "It's definitely lucky for both of use, I think," she admits. "And at the very least, bludgers would have to wait a while first; you have to be a pretty confident flyer, and I hate to say it but I just don't think you're quite there yet."

But not all the boys he's rejected for the same reason? It's not that he thinks everyone should move at the speed of light, it's just that he thinks there's a certain spark that lets you know when someone is going to be someone in your life, and if it's not there, it's not there. Jack plasters an offended look over his face. "How dare you undermine my skill level with the truth!" he exclaims, and then laughs. "Really, though, I'm happy without them. Never really quite got why the addition of things that want to maim you were meant to make quidditch more fun."

In actual fact, Angelina doesn't know about the boys. Or about Jack's past... Maybe he should wait to tell her in fact. I'm not sure how she would react, to be honest. "Well," she admits, "It certainly does make it more exciting, adding that element of potential death to the situation."

That is probably definitely a future conversation. Jack shakes his head. "Call me crazy, but if I wanted to see more exciting sports, I'd just make them more naked," he shrugs. He's never been big into pain; in Jack's world pain is bad, pleasure is good, and the crossover between them is slim to none. Mya guesses he must not be into boxing, either. "It's strange, I'm not so focused on the potential death as I am on the likelihood of broken bones."

[sorry - I couldn't get him to reconsider his words.]

Angelina looks confused. "More naked? The way you say that, it sound like it'd be the solution to everything. Actually, don't expand on that theory - I don't think I want to know, really." She is a little bemused about how being naked is that exciting - she prefers the wind in her ears and to be flying, of course. "Well, the potential death and likelihood of broken bones is a great motivator. To learn defensive moves, and to be a better player."

Jack just grins broadly and does as she requests in not expanding on his naked theories. "Really? Well, I suppose I see your point. It's just that for me it would be a great motivator just to keep myself completely out of the line of fire." It's not that Jack is a coward, he is insisting to himself, it's more that he wants his high risk endeavours to have a greater payoff. "So, ballpark figure here, how many bones have you broken thanks to your quidditch career?"

For a moment, Angelina seems to think hard, before looking up at Jack again. "Well, let's see. I don't exactly know - a lot of the time it's a bit hard to remember, but I'm pretty sure it's more than 5 and less than 10. I've broken a few arms, a leg and a couple other things. But, in my defence, we always won the games I got knocked out of." She says, grinning. "Don't worry though, none of it was permanent damage."

Jack looks a little taken aback when Angelina cannot even remember the amount of times she's had broken bones. He stares at her in silence for a few long seconds. "I think we can definitely go ahead and take the bludgers off the agenda for these flying lessons," he finally decides. "Well, I can see there's no permanent damage, so that's something I suppose. Long as there weren't too many shots to the head, of course."

Angelina sees this as normal, especially when she's been playing Quidditch practically her whole life, and since she was able to at Hogwarts. She is a little surprised at his shock. "Okay then, if you're sure. No bludger," She repeats, as if taking a mental note to remember - as if she could forget. "I should hope not... I've only taken a few light hits to the head, to be honest, but don't let that make you go doubting my sanity. Especially with," she says, beginning to blush again, "well, us." She leans up again, this time putting a light kiss on his cheek.

Jack, not being a quidditch player, does not think in such terms. He has simplified it all to 'when bones go crunch, that's bad'. He chuckles in delight at her words, and the way she kisses his cheek, and slips an arm about her because it feels like the perfectly natural thing to do. "No, no, I will take" -he swoops in and kisses her cheek lightly, just as she had done him- "well, us, as irrefutable evidence of your complete and utter sanity," he assures Angelina with an easy smile.

Angelina generally agrees with Jack, but has learnt to think differently after playing so much. Seeing as Jack's arm is now around her waist, she leans into him a little, resting her cheek on his shoulder. "So I'm crazy for doing this, then? I wonder what it says about you." She says, her voice a little muffled against his shirt.

Jack chuckles, but it is light and quiet, not wanting to disturb Angelina. It's been a while since he's actually held someone like this, and he hasn't realised he's been missing it until this point. "Well I hope that it says I'm a lot more interesting that most people you know, if nothing else."

Angelina smiles; in fact, she's never been held like this before, and she loves it. She feels safe and secure, and that's definitely a nice feeling. "I'll say. You're one of a kind, Jack Smith, and I don't think anyone doubts it."

Jack's arm tightens around Angelina just a little. "Well, that's my goal in life, so glad to hear it. Just as long as you can keep fitting me into your busy schedule, things will be just fine," he jokes, grinning to himself as he remembers her coyness when he'd first asked her out. It's something he really enjoys about Angelina; she likes to challenge him, and it keeps him on his toes.

Angelina feels Jack's arm tighten, almost protectively, and smiles wider. "Your goal in life is to be one of a kind? Nice. And don't worry, I'll do my best. Although I can't make any guarantees." She pulls away gently, still smiling. She is in no way turning him down by pulling away, but she is still stupidly unsure about what to do, and how she should be feeling. All she knows right now is that she likes this, she likes Jack a lot, and she's happy. She just hoeps it stays that way. "So, think you've learnt all you can for today? Or is there something else you'd like to learn or do?"

"Well I guess I'll just have to keep being so interesting and one of a kind until you can't resist scheduling some time for me," Jack counters, grinning. As he feels Angelina beginning to pull away, he lets her go, but keeps smiling because he doesn't feel rejected. It is getting on, and they have been out on the pitch for quite a while now. A wicked smirk flashes over his face as he entertains, and quickly discards, the idea of offering to teach Angelina a thing or two of she'd like, but all he does is shake his head. "I think I have. You can test me on all this next time. But for now, shall I walk you back to Gryffindor tower? I think my housemates will appreciate it if I shower before dinner, at least."

"I suppose you will! Not that you'll find that difficult, I imagine," Angelina grins. She sees his smirk, and thinking about her words, she realises that perhaps she could have phrased that better, and she can guess exactly what's going through Jack's head. She smacks him on the arm, but it is only light. "I'd like that," she says, "and honestly, I don't think you worked quite that hard."

"Hey!" Jack laughs as he is slapped on the arm. He doesn't bother to protest innocence because, well, Jack is never innocent. "How did you know what I was thinking? Anyway, You know I didn't work that hard, and I know I didn't work that hard, but they don't need to know that, do they? As far as they're concerned, we might have had a quidditch battle for the ages!" He takes Angelina's broom so that he is carrying them both carefully under one arm as their feet begin to turn towards the castle.

"So," Angelina begins as if thinking aloud, "you're going to pretend that you are better than you are, so that you can impress people who probably don't even really care? Wow, you certainly put a lot of thought into that one." She smiles again, despite her words, and starts walking next to Jack back to the castle.

"Ah, incorrect," Jack says, holding up a finger as if to say 'wait, wait, just hear me out on this'. "It's not about pretending to be anything, it's about letting people think whatever they want. They will anyway, you know - nobody cares about the truth of most anything, they just care about what they think they see. So if I happen to put myself in the best light so that when people assume things, they assume them in my favour and never think to ask for the truth, well, that's their problem. Anybody important enough to know the real story was here for it," he tells Angelina, winking briefly at her.
