"Well, who in their right mind doesn't love shoes?" Lily returns with an impish grin, unperturbed by any thoughts of effeminate brothers. "Far better than old Quidditch supplies and stale sweat, at any rate. Are you and... Fabian, you said? Are you and he identical twins? I'd presume you're the evil one because you said he likes shoes, but, well, my sister loves shoes to and she's a right cow, so that theory doesn't really fly."

Gideon smirks. "I suppose I don't love shoes - well, not in the way Fabian does, anyway. And no, we're not identical. Sorry if that disappoints you. But me? The evil one? ~~Only if you want me to be, babe.~~ Hardly." He says mischeviously, flipping his hair. "So one sibling likes shoes and the other is evil? How did you come to that conclusion?"

Lily shrugs, her eyes flickering between Gideon and the path ahead of them as they wander together. "I'm not disappointed. At least now I know I won't accidentally start a conversation with your brother and have him wonder who on earth the random redhead is." She pauses for a second, cocking her head to the side as she regards his assessment of her shoe logic. "I... don't know, actually. Seemed like a good theory at the time so I went with it. Needs work, clearly. Maybe I've got it backwards, and it's the ones with the designer shoes that you need to watch," she smirks.

Gideon smirks too, this time with Lily. "Don't worry, we're both used to being chatted up by random redheads... And random blondes and brunettes too, for that matter. But that sounds like a good theory. Then again, I don't know about your sister. I take it you don't really get along - is she in Gryff too?" He asks.

"Who says I'd be chatting you up?" Lily whips back, her eyes glittering a little dangerously. She arches an eyebrow in Gideon's direction, a bit of a warning because although he has no clue, Gideon's flash of ego was far too Potteresque for Lily's liking. She shrugs, wrinkling her nose a little at the thought of Petunia. "No, we really don't get along. We used to be close until I came here. I'm Muggleborn, see, and Petunia isn't a witch," she explains, her shoulders squaring a bit because she's learned from experience that her using the M word sometimes leads to other people using a less polite M word. Lily's not ashamed of her heritage, but she doesn't exactly enjoy the prejudice.

"Hey hey hey," Gideon says, raising his hands in defence. "I wasn't talking about you specifically, don't get your panties in a twist! It happens to me a bit, you know, and I'm being modest." He shrugs, as if he has no control over it. Which he doesn't, really. "That sucks that coming here seperated you from your sister, though. It must have been a shock coming here, though. So different and all - I come from a pureblood family, actually. Don't worry, though - we're not supremacists like some of the others. We're the cool Purebloods." He grins.

"Oh please," Lily scoffs, rolling her eyes. "Don't act all innocent just because I called you on it. You were being anything but modest - I bet you don't even know the meaning of the word," she admonishes, staring straight at him. Then, having said her piece, Lily moves on as if she hasn't just called Gideon out. "I had a friend who was halfblood before I came here, so I knew a little. Stories never compare to an actual experience. I think my sister was never quite forgave me for being different, but I've given up caring anymore."

"I know what it means, Merlin, do you think I'm stupid or something?" Gideon retorts. "Yeah, sometimes the stories are accurate, but I don't think you could sum up a place like this with stories. And that sounded really cheesy, but it's true. She's probably just jealous, you know." He smiles, attempting to make Lily feel better.

"Oh I see I struck a nerve," Lily comments, arching an eyebrow. She decides that since he's trying so hard to make her feel better, he can't be all that much like Potter, so she cuts him some slack, smiling up at him as they wander along the dock still. Wow, this is a long dock, maybe they turned around and started wandering back the other way at some point or something. I feel like they'd have noticed if they walked off the end and into the water, right? "It was pretty cheesy," she confirms. "But certainly not wrong. And she's definitely jealous. She'd be horrified if anyone she knows ever heard about this - well, she'd be horrified if they ever heard she had a witch for a sister, period - but when I first got my Hogwarts letter, she wrote to Professor Dumbledore asking if she could come too. He was incredibly polite when he told her there was no chance in hell of that happening," Lily says, her voice lighter than she feels about the subject.

Gideon smiles; he can see she isn't as happy about as she sounds, but doesn't say anything. "Well, I'm not surprised she's jealous of you - you must be the prettier sister as well as the wizarding one, you know. Sounds like Dumbles, too - he's unfailingly polite, even when it's incredibly awkward. That must have been pretty bad for you."

Lily smiles again, pleased by the compliment as her eyes flicker back to Gideon once more. It's only polite to keep eye contact when you hold a conversation with someone, after all. Oh. Hello Blue Eyes. "I suppose by his age, Dumbledore's learned a thing or two about tact and diplomacy. It's not so bad for me - I get to be here nine months of the year! And all summer my parents bang on about how exciting it is to have a witch in the family, and how clever I must be, and how wonderful it is I made prefect. In all honesty, that gets a little excruciating. I just have to tell myself it's worth it to see the sour look on my sister's face. You'd think they fed her nothing but lemons," Lily remarks, then wonders why she's even talking this much about Petunia. She doesn't usually bother, she usually leaves it at yes, she has a sister, no, she's not magical.

Clearly the reason Lily is talking so much to Gideon is because he's such a great listener, he's gorgeous, and generally an awesome person. Indeed. "Well, you'd hope that Dumbledore learnt something in all his years. Although I personally never get tired of being told how amazing I am, I would be surprised if you did! Everone likes to be praised now and then. Well, I wouldn't mind lemons if I knew how to make lemonade. Maybe you should send her a recipe?" He asks with a grin and a wink.

Lily shakes her head a little, throwing her hands in the air in exasperation. "Merlin, are all men like toddlers, requiring constant positive reinforcement?" she bursts out, wondering if she's just never noticed it in other boys due to Potter's overwhelming, shining examples of all that is undesirable in the opposite sex. Still, Lily can't deny that Gideon and Potter are worlds apart in some areas, show pony tendencies aside. Gideon at least is handsome and witty and capable of carrying on a conversation beyond a demand for a date. She can't help but laugh. "I'll even owl her the sugar to go with the recipe, in case she doesn't know what 'sweet' is."

Gideon smirks. "But really, who doesn't like positive reinforcement? And the answer to your question is mostly, actually. Just some of us deserve it more..." He trails off. "Maybe you should teach her how to make it yourself? Make sure she understands everything, and all. It doesn't sound like she knows what 'sweet' is, after all. Well, at least if it was a defective gene or something, you can be glad you didn't get it." He nods authoritatively.

Lily shakes her head, but she can't help but smile. "So you're essentially saying that you're seventeen going on three, and you need constant supervision?" she quips, wondering where he got the impression that she's sweet from. Mya thinks that a line and a half is too short, so Lily glances up at Gideon, shakes her head again, and chuckles to herself as she walks.

Gideon chuckles as well. "Pretty much." Gideon admits. AJ is cluless about what else to write, so Gid looks down at her, almost fondly. This scene feels like it should be ending, but Gid is having a great time talking to Lily so he simply smiles warmly at her.

Lily smirks. "Well I suppose at least you know that, so it's a start. I have to go. I'll see you around, Gideon," she says, faltering in her path and preparing to head back towards the castle.

Gideon notices her faltering step and decides to take his chances. Hey, even if she says no, she'd be one of the first ones to do so. Even then she'd have something to brag about, he figures, to get the honour of being asked out by a Prewett. "I may know that, but I think I am one of a rare breed," he grins. "So, how's about a guarantee I'll see you again? Hogsmeade, next weekend? We can go and buy the sugar to send to your sister," He says with another wink.

Lily blinks. Well, usually when she gets asked out it goes a little differently. It's usually all 'oi - Evans!' and snappy comebacks and usually Potter ending up in the lake. She smiles, her green eyes sparkling a little. That was just... smooth, and she's without the usual annoyance she feels at this point of the conversation with Potter. "Yeah, alright," she says, and works out the boring details of where and when to meet with him. "I'll see you then. Bye, Gideon," she says, this time forcing herself to walk away, a little spring in her step. She can't resist glancing back over her shoulder just before she's out of sight.

Gideon simply grins. How could she have not said yes, really? And now he has a proper date, after the party and all (is implying smut here, people). Gideon Prewett is pleased with himself, and rightly so. "Seeya, Lily." He murmurs after her as she walks away. She has a nice ass, he notices. Better not mention it to her though. He wanders back to the castle, grinning and whistling to himself.

Remus is a little worried that Sirius hasn't said anything yet. Now about 50bazillion things are running through his head, wondering what Sirius is up to. Did he pull some prank or something and needs to get out of trouble now? WHAT WAS GOING ON???? WHY WASN'T HE BEING HIS USUAL LOUD SELF!? Yeah...Remus worries too much. He's funny like that. "Er, hey. What are you up to?" Then it occurs to him that he hasn't seen Sirius since that stupid dance - when he got all annoyed seeing Sirius' arm around Molly. That was stupid. Why'd he get so annoyed by that? He was so weird sometimes.
