Ted walked down here and saw one of his gingers. Yay gingers! He walked over to her and snuck up behind her, grabbing her, "Guess who!"

Lily squeals and bats at Ted's hands, recognising his voice. "Ted Tonks if you make us slip and fall off this dock, I'll drown you!" she warns, laughing.

Ted laughed and hugged her for a second before letting go, "Fine! I don't want to die! At least not in the lake, imagine all the things that would nibble on you." He wrinkled his nose and kicked a stone into the water.

"I think the Giant Squid would win, and he'd probably manage you in one bite," Lily smiles, squeezing Ted's arm because she can't hug him back when he's hugging her from behind. "So what's new with you?"

Ted laughed and sat down, his feet hanging just an inch above the water. "Not much. Working hard and playing quietly in a corner. You?"

Lily sits down next to Ted, tucking her robes in around her to keep the warmth in and pushing her hair behind her ear. "Much the same," she says with a smile. "Keeping delinquents in line and all that; just your average day in the life of a prefect."

[Grrrr]

Ted laughed, "Because your house has the most delinquents of them all. So," he smirked at her and elbowed her gently, "spent much time with the boyfriend lately?"

"And they're proud of it, too. At least you know Gryffs are around. How many Puffs are there, again? Three? Merlin, you could almost disband you know." She laughs and rolls her eyes, nudging Ted's shoulder playfully. "A bit, yeah. Found yourself a girlfriend so you can stop living vicariously through your friends, yet?"

Ted laughed at her comment about the puffs, "We're lying in wait. Soon we'll strike and take over the world. Don't worry about it. And not yet. So is there anything interesting for me to live vicariously through?"

Lily shrugs and rolls her eyes, focusing all her attention on keeping her voice even and her complexion un-blushing and firmly reminding herself that it's alright to talk about this with Ted. "Have you ever been to the Prefects' Bathroom? It's a lovely place. Huge bathtub," he says lightly, smirking, pleased with herself because her cheeks have only gone a little pink instead of full-blown red.

Lily just grins. "You might say that." She leans companionably into Ted as he wraps an arm about her. "So I guess it's been a while for you then, if you're obsessing so much," she blurts out, eyes fixed firmly on the cold and ominous looking lake. Woo ninja post!

"Oh, so someone had a better Christmas break than he let on," Lily says in a singsong voice, turning wicked green eyes towards Ted for a moment before looking back to the lake. She can still feel the light blush, but she's surprised to find it's a little easier, talking about Ted's sex life than her own. "No cute friends, but I think Gideon's brother is single," she quips.

"I had a great break," Ted elbowed her when she mentioned Fabian, "No. I'm a boobs man and unless I missed something he doesn't have any. And you don't have any cute friends? You surround yourself with ugly people?"

"Well I don't have all that many close friends, especially not girls. I don't know why... And of my two dormmates, who both happen to be Gideon's sisters, one is seeing someone and the other is a fifth year and maybe just a little young for you," she shrugs.

Ted shook his head, "Why is it you have no girlfriends and I have almost no guy friends? It's crazy. And I think I'm fine without dating a Prewett. Unlike you I have no death wish." He grinned and waited for the impending hit.

"I don't know," Lily says, her face taking on a thoughtful expression as she tucks her hair back behind her ear. "I almost always get along with boys better than girls. I think it's because with boys, there's no bull. Well, most of the time," she mutters, thinking of Severus and the whole big steaming pile of bull their friendship had ended in. "And hey!" she snaps, laughing even as she slaps Ted's arm, "It's not my fault you're just too delicate to handle it!"

Ted laughed when he hit her, "I feel the same way about girls. Well... no not really. Your gender is full of bull but I guess I have lots of guy friends but they're all my buddies. We don't really talk, it's more of a 'hey mate wanna play football' relationship than anything where we can talk. Call me sensitive but I like to chat." He shrugged, "And girls have more different opinions than I do which is always interesting."

"Aw, and yet you're still single, how is this so!?" Lily says, using an obnoxiously squealy girl voice and pinching one of Ted's cheeks as if he's just the most adorable thing she's ever laid eyes on. "I like the different opinions I get from talking to boys. Well, mostly you and Remus and Gideon I suppose. But a lot of the time I just don't relate to what other girls are talking about," she explains lightly. She's not concerned; as long as she has someone to carry on a good conversation with she's never going to feel like she's missing out on anything.

Ted pushed her hand away laughing, "Push off. And it's all about the conversation, because there are still girls who drive me crackers, and there are guys I'm friends with." He shrugged, "Anyway, how're all your classes going at the moment?"

Lily laughs and drops her hand back to her side. "Definitely; I couldn't spend any time with someone I couldn't carry on a decent conversation with. Classes are alright, I suppose. In Arithmancy it's getting rather annoying; we rushed through the curriculum, and now we're doing almost nothing but revision until exams and I can't understand why we can't just move on to seventh year topics. I'm starting to feel like it's pointless even turning up since I've already got all my revision notes for the class in order. I wish it could be more like Charms; Flitwick always has something new and I'm quite taken with defensive wards and spells." Her feet swing lazily back and forth above the water as she talks.

Ted nodded, "Yeah I know the feeling. Or when you've studied ahead like I have in transfiguration and then you're just waiting for everyone to catch up. It drives me nuts!" He leaned back on his hands and looked out over the lake, "Gotta say charms isn't my favourite though, even if we are learning new stuff there's just something about Flitwick that gets to me. Always has been."
