"Transfiguration," Lily sighs. "Still not my best. Though human transfiguration is simply amazing, don't you think?" She smiles impishly. "I think you're being a little harsh on Flitiwick, you know. Men of his stature are in short supply as it is!"

Ted grinned back, "I love human transformation." When she commented on Flitwick he laughed, "Well there are those of us who think little of him."

Lily chuckles. "Don't be so small-minded, Ted. I wish I was stronger in Transfiguration, just for the possibility of becoming an Animagus. I wonder what I would be," she says, her voice taking on a faraway quality as she tries to figure out what her animal equivalent would be.

Ted shrugged when she pondered what animal she would be even though the answer is obviously doe. "I'm not sure. I took the potion to see earlier this year and I ended up being a malayan sun bear. It was awesome actually being that huge with the claws, Professor McGonagall said she would help me but I haven't had enough time to work on the project yet. Hopefully I'll get more time soon."

"A bear?" Lily blinks. That was interesting. "Well, maybe Yogi Bear. I suppose I'm adept enough at potions to make a batch, and that would tell me what I would be. I hope something interesting, nothing boring like a fluffy little lamb."

Ted laughed, "I am not Yogi, and you a lamb? You'd be more like a tiger, something capable of ripping heads off." And actually the malayan sun bear fits Ted well. It's pretty cuddly but very very mean when you threaten its family.

Lily has yet to see Ted when someone he cares about is threatened, so she doesn't know that part of his personality so well yet. "You're not smarter than the average bear?" Lily quips. "Merlin, it's been forever since I've watched cartoons like that. Hmm, maybe I should get black streaks in my hair, help me on the cause for being a tiger."

Hopefully Lily will never have to meet Angry!Ted. Angry!Ted has been raging for three or four days now over Evandi. Ted almost fell off the dock laughing, "I might be smarter than the average bear but I don't steal picnic bask- oh wait. Okay maybe I do steal food. Damn." He laughed again and took her hands, "If I'm Yogi I need a BooBoo. Please Lily?"

Lily clutches at the dock to keep from falling off herself as she laughs along with Ted. "I knew it! And no. I am not a short bear. I am not even all that short, actually. Go ask Molly to be your BooBoo."

Ted cracked up at this point and fell over, almost dropping off the side of the dock at this point, "Oh God! Yes! I am asking her next time!" He cracked up again and flopped more in her direction so he was a little further from the edge of the dock, "Lils, does that make you Tigger?"

Lily clutches at her stomach as she laughs loudly. "Merlin, just don't tell her I said that, she hates me enough as it is!," she gasps, trying valiantly to control her laughter. "Oh God, don't say that. I'm not that orange and bouncy, am I?"

Ted couldn't stop laughing long enough to answer her for a few minutes just looking back at her and her ginger hair and cracking up again. When he finally caught his breath he wiped the tears away and sat up again, "Lily, I'm sorry. You are."

Yeah.

Ok I'll make an actual post now.
.....

Lily shrieks as she tumbles into the icy water with Ted. "It's freezing!" she screams, because she's very observant. She splutters a little and pushes her hair out of her face.

Lily takes Ted's offered hand and pulls herself back onto the dock. She quickly conjures towels and a thick jar, which she sets between them and fills with a little blue flame for warmth. "I should've seen that coming," she comments, wrapping one of the towels about her in an attempt to dry and warm herself.

Ted grinned and pulled off his jacket before wrapping a towel around himself too, and sitting in close to the fire, "You should have." He cast a warming charm on the towels and a quick drying spell on his hair. "At least the squid didn't get us."

"I'm sure the squid wouldn't hurt anyone. I've heard he pushes first years back into the boats when they fall out," Lily says, huddling into her towel. "And I still maintain that he's far more dashing than Potter, and if I was not dating Gideon, I'd be out here chatting the squid up before giving Potter a chance."

Ted laughed and looked out over the lake, "It still grosses me out. And you can't date the squid, I wouldn't be able to come to the wedding. Can you just stick with your Prewett please?"

"Poor squid. Since when does 'wedding' automatically follow on from 'dating' though. But I'll do my best to oblige," Lily says lightly, although she honestly hasn't ever really thought of Gideon in that light before and she falls silent as she really contemplates the state of things for the first time. She loves being with Gideon, and she cares for him deeply, but Lily is just barely seventeen and not thinking of 'forever', especially not in the uncertain future they face in the brewing threat of Voldemort. Besides, he is a year ahead of her and will be out in the real world come summer, and a year is a long time for people as young as they. Lily is here, now, and she's happy, and she'll think about what tomorrow brings when it gets here. Wow. That got all pensive and shit. Oops.

Ted blinked, "If you got a catch like the squid why would you ever let him go?" Ted didn't mean for Lily to get all philosophical but should she like to talk about it he's always up for that.

"This is true. Although I have no idea how I'd explain that one to Gideon," Lily smiles. "'It's not that I'm not into you, I just can't go past a man with tentacles'," she quips, then wrinkles her nose even as she chuckles.
