Marlene shakes her head, giving Melanie a hard look. "Come on, Mel. Really? Some hot girl asks you out and you get all excited about it, and now you're considering not showing up because some random bitch walks up to you and talks shit about her? She's probably jealous or something, or just trying to screw things around," she says, dropping her cigarette on the ground and stamping it out.

[Mya would like to apologise to Nev for the headache she probably got if Parv read that. <3]

[Lol. I literally read that right before the headache started. Ouchhhh. :/ This isn't helping the sickness.]

"Well, I don't know. The girl like said that she was her best friend." She told Marlene. "She said she was Dom's best friend and that Dom didn't even tell her about me." She said with a small sigh. "Plus she had a ring on her left hand on her ring finger and it looked pretty damn special so why would she even be jealous if I was going on a date with my friend? I just don't know what to do. I don't get stood up."

[Aw no. *huggles*]

Marlene pulls a disbelieving face because that does sound pretty dodgy when Melanie puts it that way. "That's kind of messed up. I would straight-up ask this Dom chick about it on your date," she shrugs. "I reckon she'll turn up. Because I don't know anyone who would talk shit about their best friend to a total stranger because they don't want some random person they don't even know to get hurt more than they worry about looking out for their friend. Nobody gives a shit about taking care of a stranger before one of their own," she points out. Then she wrinkles her nose slightly. "A ring? Seriously? Huh," she says, because Inner!Mione threatened to hex Inner!Lene if she said anything else. >.>

[*huggles back and tries not to breathe on you* Also Inner!Parv wants to huge Inner!Mione right now....]

"Yeah, she was the one who asked me so I don't get why she would ask me on a date if she wasn't planning on showing up." She said with a small nod. "Exactly! I was so confused because she said how good of friends she was with Dom and then she went off saying how Dom skips out on her dates. Seriously, who talks shit about their best friend? That's just weird." She said with a small shrug. "Yeah, it looked pretty special too. It wasn't just an average ring you would get from like your parents."

[*sends snuggly blankies* Inner!Mione says don't mention it, Parv - she understands <3]

"See my point," Marlene says, glad that Melanie seems to be figuring out that it doesn't all add up the way Dom's best friend wanted her to think it did. "Maybe this chick is just in denial about which way she'd rather swing or something. Either that or she's one of those types who is allowed to have someone but doesn't like to share her friends, you know? Hell, maybe they just had a fight or something and they kissed and made up ten seconds later. Whatever," she waves her hand, "I'd still show up, if nothing else than to ask Dom straight up about it. Besides, if anything goes wrong and she doesn't show, just send me an owl and we'll go get shit-faced or something," she adds, as if that's a perfectly acceptable plan for school students.

Melanie nodded. "Yeah, maybe she has like a little crush on her best friend or something, I don't know her life but she seemed like a bitch." She told Marlene. Now Parv is really mad at Melanie Whoops. "Ugh! I hate those types of people! They are way too clingy." She said as she rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I'll show up and if Dom show's up I'll probably ask her about it because I still want to know why the girl would even say such a thing to me. Like seriously." She said, rolling her eyes. "And I will totally hit you up if she doesn't show." She said, thinking it was a perfectly acceptable plan also.

OhGod does your head have a padded basement to separate your Inner!People too? >.>
Marlene laughs. "Complete bitch. And yeah, clingy too - those are the worst kind. It's like, get a freakin' hobby or whatever and unhook your claws!" To Marlene, there is nothing worse than getting too close to people. "Sounds good to me. I have heaps of firewhiskey in my dorm, but it's better to go out anyway because then we might both pick up. Hell, actually, I'll just be at the Three Broomsticks if you need me," she says with a shrug because it's been a while and Marlene is bored of being alone. She glances across at Melanie and smirks. "Not that it matters anymore, but Rosmerta's been believing I'm seventeen for about three years."

No.lol.*dead* But they do all have separate rooms and sometimes I put them in there and put the couch in front of the door. <.<

"Oh my god! Exactly! Seriously though, obviously your friend is making other friends so she should too." She said, rolling her eyes. Melanie grins widely. "Alright! Sounds good. If Dom doesn't show I'll head on down there to meet you. Really? Dang you're lucky!" She said with a wide grin. "I could never get away with pretending to me older. I am seventeen now and I still get carded when I try and buy a drink." She said, sounding rather annoyed by it all.

Good thinking. LOL. Well, the padded basement was always Evan's but then when he got slaughtered I kept it to make sure I could separate Lils and Mol in a way that Lily couldn't get out and strangle Molly. >.>

Marlene smirks. "Look at it this way - if you're still getting carded at twenty-one or something you'll be cheering or whatever," she points out. She glances down at the book still in Melanie's hand and arches an eyebrow in question as she pulls out and lights another cigarette. "Anything interesting?"

Omg. *dead* Harry wants to know if his mother has any anger problems at all and if she needs some help....

"That's true! Older people always do say they wish they looked younger! I guess I'm just lucky is all." She said with a light laugh before looking down at the book. "Eh, it's alright. I've read better." She told her. "It's all about transfiguration." Nev just noticed that Melanie is always learning about transfiguration.

LMAO. Lily is horrified to think that she might set a bad example. She'd like Harry to know that she's just very, very feisty. And that Molly is very, very annoying. >.>
"Well maybe people will underestimate you and you can take them by surprise," she figures with a shrug, because somehow with her everything boils down to anything that can help you stay alive in the end. Ah well, it's a beautiful friendship where they never fight over books because Mel has the transfiguration ones and Lene has all the DADA ones. "Ah right. McGonagall has given me a couple of good ones over the years, mainly human transfiguration and large-scale stuff that could come in handy for secret operations or whatever. Still not really my thing, but useful at least."

Well, Harry says it is okay to be feisty and he trusts that his mommy is not a crazy lady.

"Mmmhmm, that is a good point." She said with a small nod. Oh gosh. Could you imagine if they fought over books. Melanie would fight to the death for a good book. She likes boobs that much. "Ugh, I love transfiguration so much." She told her. "Definitely my favorite subject. I'm actually working towards being an Animagus." She told her with a wide smile.

Marlene says not to worry, she likes boobs a lot too. *blinks* But yeah - if they ever fought over books, shit would get pretty nasty!
Marlene raises her eyebrows, impressed. She's not going to make a broken record of herself repeating how much she loves Defence for the millionth time, so she just smiles a little. "That's cool. How far along are you? Do you know what animal you'd be yet, or whatever?" she wonders because there's something fascinating about that particular brand of magic.

"Yeah I would be a bobcat." She said with a small nod. "I just found out that a little while ago. McGonagall is helping me out with all of it, making sure I take it nice and slow too." She told her. "I just brewed the potion last week though that told me my animal and that's what it was! I am one step closer to actually doing some of the more exciting stuff." She said with a light laugh.

"Sweet," Marlene says, wondering what sort of animal she would be. Something that bites, most likely. Then she rolls her eyes. "It's sort of arse-backwards that you have to go slow and be patient for all the exciting stuff to work, isn't it?" she comments. "But I guess I take McGonagall's point - if you stuffed this up you'd be pretty screwed, right? Like that French dude who got turned into half a frog or some weird thing that Mya just decided to pull out of her butt." She shrugs. What's life without a little risk, anyway?

Nev loves Mya and her pulling out of her butt. Um. That sounds so dirty. Op.

"I know! I think they should just let people jump right into it and if they fuck up then that's their problem." She said with a light shrug. "Oh god how I would hate to be him." She said, shaking her head. "It must suck being half frog half human. He'll be like that forever too I am pretty sure. Unless they find a way to fix it." No Nev is pulling things out of her butt.

Marlene nods. "Pretty much. What's the point of holding people's hands all the time so they can't do a damned thing for themselves? Sure I guess it's great if you're a government and you want everyone to be nice and compliant or whatever, but too bad when your people all get themselves killed because they're too clueless to wipe their own asses let alone take care of themselves," she scoffs, rolling her eyes. Oh wow, I think Marlene may be just a hint of an anarchist there. Oops. "Froggy-dude can learn to live with his fucking frog legs and let that be an example to everyone dumb enough to fuck it up!"

Melanie loves Marlene and her little comments she makes. 'they're too clueless to wipe their own asses'. She is dying up here, dying I tell you.
"Exactly!" She said in agreement. "People seriously need to take responsibility for their own actions and not let the Government do it. Like if they want to be dumb and rush through everything then they can end up with frog legs forever." She said with a shrug. "Then us smart ones can end up being animagi and we will all be super awesome." She said honestly. "I just hate people who are so dumb that they need to listen to everything the government says, seriously, what makes the government people any better than us? Nothing."

Post  Marlene McKinnon May 22nd 2011, 12:54 am

Marlene is glad Melanie enjoys her oh-so-witty commentary! She shrugs. "Natural selection and all that - survival of the fittest. That's the thing about Governments most of the time, and the Ministry is bloody expert at it," she says, working herself into a rant, "They're always more interested in making sure it looks like they're doing something instead of actually getting shit done. It's all image. It's like this shit they pull with Voldemort - always trying to tell everyone that it's all just fine and under control, meanwhile Voldemort and his thugs are just walking into people's homes and slaughtering them without a second thought!" she snaps. She takes a few deep breaths, calming down as she realises she's forgotten herself a little there. She takes a drag of her cigarette, the nicotine soothing its way through her system. "I guess people just want to hear the easy things more than they want to hear the truth."

"Oh my god I know." She said with a small eye roll. "They need to just admit that they have no idea what they are doing, really." She said, huffing slightly. "I don't understand why they keep trying if they just fail every single time." She said as she shrugged. "I guess that is true, though personally I would much rather hear the ugly truth." She said honestly. "I hate being lied to so I don't get why people lie. It really just makes everything so much more messed up in the end, you know?" She said with a sigh. She saw lying as pointless because it always came back to get you in the end.

Marlene shrugs, still calming herself down after her little outburst. "I guess most people wouldn't agree with you. Like it's alright to be lied to if the truth is something ugly and inconvenient or whatever. I guess it's just easier to not automatically trust anyone," she says. 'Or just not trust them at all,' she adds silently. "I guess the Ministry figures if they actually own up to the fact that they're a bunch of clueless old wanks either blind or being bought off by the bad guys the world falls apart and everyone panics."

That awkward moment when you totally post fail and you don't notice until like an hour later. <.< OP.

"Yeah, that's a good tactic." She said in response to not trusting people. For you never really know who would lie to you. Some people are really good liars after all and you might never know if they lied to you about something really huge. "That's true. The whole world would probably go crazy if they found out the Ministry actually had no idea what they were doing or talking about. Everyone would overreact most likely and go crazy." She said with a small eye roll. "Some people rely on the things the Ministry says too much."

LOL oops. >.>
Marlene shrugs and finishes her second cigarette, stomping the butt out on the ground. "Pretty much. Bet they'd go to a lot of trouble to keep anyone who wanted to point out their complete failure quiet, though, just run on fear and lies forever. Seems to work for most places I think. Shit, Mel, I gotta go - speaking of wankers in authority positions, I got a detention with Slughorn. Apparently when you tell Professors their class is a waste of your time they get a little pissed," she says, completely mystified by the logic of this. She was only being honest. Good luck on the date," she says, offering the other girl a small and rare smile before she turns and heads back up to the castle.
