Luna is here, sitting on a pumpkin and reading the Quibbler.

Ted walked down and saw a girl who looked vaguely familiar. He thought she was a Ravenclaw and remembered something about her father and the quibbler. "Hello!" He waved cheerily because he was in a good mood.

Luna looked up from her Quibbler and smiled. "Hello," she greeted, not really sure of who this boy was but seeing that he was a Hufflepuff. "I'm Luna," she introduces, offering out her hand to shake the Hufflepuff's.

"Ted, nice to meet you" he shook her hand then sat down on a pumpkin across from her, reminded of how he met Viktor. "What year are you Luna? I'm 7th."

"I'm a 5th," she replies, not at all feeling odd about being so young compared to just about everyone she meets. "But most of my friends are 7th years. You probably know some of them. So Ted, what are you up to?" she asks, genuinely curious because Luna Lovegood is always curious.

"Just walking around the grounds. I love the outdoors and the fresh air. What are you doing out here?" He picked up a fallen leaf and started twirling it in his fingers.

"Me too," she answers smiling, her eyes watching the leaf twirl around in Ted's fingers. "I like coming out here to think...or read. I used to study out here too, but now I do that in my dorm," she said with a shrug, trying not to think about the last time she studied with Dean because those study sessions are probably over. Poor guy probably doesn't even want to look at Luna now.

"Hmm... I don't really study outside but I love to come out here and run or play sports. Sometimes just napping by the lake is so much more fun than napping anywhere else. So what other 7th years do you know?" The leaf was twirling faster now.

Luna nods in agreement, looking up at Ted before the twirling leaf gets too distracting. "Um. Well, I'm pretty good friends with Caradoc Dearborn. And Rolf Scamander...Sort of," she shrugs, realizing that she's only talked to Rolf twice and that he probably doesn't count as a friend. She just named him off since she can't name Dean at the moment, and she doesn't want to see lame for not having many friends. "I don't have too many friends. Just a few close ones," she admits quietly.

Ted nodded, "I'm the same way. I don't want to just be vague associates, I'd rather make sure that I'm real friends with the ones that are important to me. I just met Caradoc the other day, he seems interesting." He dropped the leaf and looked around for another larger one.

"He is...I haven't seen him in a while though," she says, frowning slightly because Caradoc was supposed to be like her big brother and he hasn't even told her about his boyfriend yet. Oh well, she'll find out somehow. Stuff like this probably spreads fast around a school like Hogwarts. "Who do you usually hang out with?"

Ted shrugged, "Well I'm good friends with Parvati Patil and I hang out with Viktor Krum quite a bit. Oh and Molly Prewett." He finally found the perfect leaf and picked it up. Instead of twirling it he started to punch holes in it with his nails.

That poor leaf. Really getting manhandled today. Luna hopes it doesn't have a wife and children at home. What will they do without papa leaf to support them? "I met Molly once. And I've heard of Viktor. He's good friends with my best friend, Hermione."

"Hermione. She spends a lot of time in the library right?" Ted is going to be a bit of a people watcher/ creeper... whoops. And Ted only picks single leaves who no one will miss.

Luna is glad to know this. At least the leaf won't be missed when it never goes back home. "Yes, she does," she says, smiling happily as she thinks about her secret girlfriend. "She's really smart and clever and all that."

"So I've heard. And what about you? What do you like to do for fun?" Ted keeps destroying the leaf cause it's fun.

Luna shrugs. "I like spending time outside mostly. There's a lot to explore around here," she says with a smile, thinking about her thestral friends. "I'm really interested in magical creatures...Like thestrals."

It's fine but I think imma sleep now... FINISH TOMORROW?

"Thestrals? They're the ones you can only see after you've witnessed death, right?" Ted didn't believe all the superstitious crap about them but he also didn't know all that much about them. "Do the live around here?"

Luna nodded in answer to both his questions. "They live on the edge of the forest. Not many people bother them there because only a few students can see where they are. They're really friendly though. Even if you can't see them."

Ted nodded, "They sound cool. What other sort of stuff lives in the forest?" He finished destroying the leaf and scattered the little pieces over the ground.

"Lots of things," she says with a shrug. "I've heard the werewolves at night out in the forest. And there are unicorns too." She smiles to herself, thinking about the time she found one with Hermione. "Are you taking Care of Magical Creatures?" she asked curiously.

Ted shook his head, "No, I've actually never taken it. I took arithamancy and runes instead. I take it you're in that class. Hagrid's the teacher right?"

Luna smiles and nods. "It's my favorite class. And Hagrid is a pretty good teacher when he's focused. Sometimes he gets a bit carried away though. But it's obvious that he's very knowledgeable about the subject."

"He's always seemed like a cool guy and it's obvious at least he cares about the subject. What sort of creatures do you learn about?" Ted is a curious one yes he is.

"Well, so far we've been learning about thestrals and bowtruckles. Now we're starting to learn about Porlocks too. It's always been my favorite class," she said with a smile.
