Re: The Fireplace
Pansy made herself busy untying her shoes with her free hand. She didn't like to think about those days too terribly much. There were fun times, making fun of the Gryffies and Puffs, causing trouble for others and whatnot. There were some good laughs. She avoided thinking about all his comments and the way he used to treat her like just another follower, dirt on his shoes. It had been normal, and she'd thought, for a while anyway, that it was okay to be treated that way because she loved him. Eventually she learned better, but that was just before he'd disappeared back home for those few months. She had ignored his flirting with other girls, despite how it hurt her. She couldn't ever let him know how she felt, it would only mean ridicule. But things were different now. If she'd been told last year that next spring she'd be sitting in the common room with Draco's arm around her, just having told each other, for the second time, that they loved each other, she wouldn't have dared believe it. She might even have hexed whoever said so. But here she was. She stretched out her legs by the fire, letting it warm her up, especially her toes which were never quite properly warm in the dungeons. Her shirt was a little wet at the shoulders where he had been hugging her, but she didn't mind it. His fingers were cold around her own. "Yeah," she finally answered him as he pulled her close. "I'd love to never fight with you again. But I know how we are, too. We're born to fight," she laughed, pulling her knees up to her chest. "We'll fight again, that's inevitable. But we'll fix it. We'll always fix it." We'll have to. I won't let him go.

[I'm gonna say, yes. XD]
"If we don't fix it, I might have to jump off the Astronomy Tower," Draco shrugged this off as a joke, but he knew her reaction would not be pleasing since that's what he had been doing moments before. He enjoyed sitting by the fire with Pansy and reminiscing on times that weren't when he was calling her rude names and treating her like dirt. He remembered when he had first come back to Hogwarts after being held captive at Malfoy Manor. He wondered if things would be like they were now if he hadn't been held captive. If he had been here all along, would they have ever confessed these feelings for one another? It was amazing how the tiniest moments in life shaped the world around you. His gaze fell to the entwined hands. He knew he had probably given her some illness, like a cold, that could be easily healed, but would be a pain to be rid of, just by touching her. He laughed for a moment, thinking about what crazy medication he had to be on to think he could jump off the Astronomy Tower and leave Pansy, "I think maybe instead of ripping each other apart, we could always focus our attention on our enemies," He winked and nudged her, "We were good at that, teaming up against the people who annoyed us."

Re: The Fireplace
Severus quietly opens the door to the common room and slips in as silently as possible, seeing Draco and Pansy sitting beside each other, looking happy. He was glad to see them both smiling- there was some happiness in this world after all, even if he couldn't find it himself. He climbed up the stairs to his dormitory, leaving muddy footprints behind him.

Re: The Fireplace
Pansy turned to glare at him, not finding it as funny as he apparently had. Her scowl soon relaxed. She sighed; it was impossible to stay terribly angry with him right now. "Hm. This is true. We'd make a great team," she laughed, picturing all the people she'd love to dish out a little of her anger on. It probably wasn't normal to have such a long list, but that was who she was. She made enemies, she fought for those she cared about, and she attacked first and asked questions later. Maybe it was stupid - alright, it was incredibly stupid, seeing as it landed her in the hospital wing multiple times just in the past few months - but it was who she was. She rested her head on his shoulder, her cheek pressed against his still wet shoulder. Staring off into the fire, she let her mind wander while she watched the shapes the flames made, imagining all the ways she'd like to make Granger wish she was dead. Her lips curled as she plotted, forming that same smirk as always when she was up to nothing good.
Re: The Fireplace
Draco gazed down at her, simply trying to figure out what she was thinking. He was not a strange supernatural glitter covered being that could read minds, like some talentless authors thought existed. He let the glare escape from his thoughts because he had a feeling that wasn't even able to be categorized as a minor problem, knowing them. He squeezed her hand as he noticed the smirk appearing on her face. It intrigued him in the same way it had in the past. He had never been the mastermind or the brave one in the plans that the little group of Slytherins cooked up. Pansy had always taken the lead. He had seen that smirk more times than he could count and relieved him to know that she still had crazy ideas within her mind. He followed her gaze into the fire and watched it rise, only to sink back down. It was beautiful and, yet, so destructive. It reminded him of Pansy, in a way. She fascinated him and was beautiful, but she was also destructive. She had the hidden qualities that no one else could capture. That's what drew him to her, "Who are you thinking of fighting now?" He chuckled, turning his attention back to her, "Don't try to hide it from me. I know you better than anyone..."

Re: The Fireplace
Pansy hadn't been paying attention to anything around her, and almost jumped at his voice. Her smirk spread into a smile and she laughed at him. "You know me too well for my own good." She turned to look up at him, knowing he was trying to figure something out. It was that same way he'd always narrowed his eyes, just a little, when he was thinking hard about something. "Just Whoremione," Pansy told him, smirking again before she looked back at the fire. It almost drove her mad, wanting her chance to finally have a go at the Gryffindor. She'd never liked her, but now there were so many more reasons to fight her, hurt her, make her sorry. Pansy wondered if this should scare her, these feelings for revenge and inflicting pain on someone, but she felt that punishment was due to be dealt out one way or another, and if it was going to happen, she might as well step up and enjoy the process. It had always been a little like this, wanting to be a part of dealing out what people had coming to them. Though she did wonder when she'd gotten so extreme. This degree of anger and plotting and action were certainly new to her.
Re: The Fireplace
Draco's eyes flickered to the fire at the mention of Hermione. The way she had acted in the kitchens, how she felt superior to him all the time. He felt his insides topple over and twist. His fist clenched and he gritted his teeth. He had almost ruined Pansy and himself over the Mudblood. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, calming himself. The hatred for Granger came from the treatment she gave to others, like Severus and Pansy. He would not stand for that any longer. He was ashamed for his actions with her and wanted to pretend like that had never occurred. He peeked over at Pansy, "What do you think should be done to the filthy little Mudblood?" He lay back on the rug, placing his arms behind his head and turned his head slightly towards her, "I want in. In case you hadn't noticed."

Re: The Fireplace
Pansy laughed as he asked to be in on her plotting, glancing back over her shoulder to answer him. "Don't you always?" She turned herself around and laid down on her stomach, leaning on her elbows with her chin in her hands. She pondered for a moment, scrunching her nose without realizing she was doing it, noticing that she hadn't actually planned much of anything out for once. All she could think was that it would be a wonderful feeling watching Granger writhe and cry and apologize. And she'd beg, positively beg... "Not sure yet. But she'll wish I'd just killed her to begin with by the time I'm finished if I get my way." And I usually do get my way...
