Polly watches, amused, as Sirius goes over and tells off the Creepy Dude. When he comes back and sits down, she giggles and nods. "Zat does 'appen a lot, I'll admit, and eet ees razzer annoying. May I ask what you said to 'im?" she couldn't help being curious after all.

"I told him that if he kept staring like some pervy old creep, I was liable to shank him with my industrial," he said, pointing to the piercing in his ear, "and promptly use it to carve out his spleen, and feed it to rabid chi hua huas. No big deal," he said, shrugging. "I would never, of course, have done that, if he kept up his creepiness. The real damage that I would have inflicted would have been far more painful, because I don't put up with creepy freaks. Perverts aren't cool!"

He asks, beginning to walk to the Three Broomsticks (as that is indeed the last option for beverage consumption for the aforementioned reasons) his arm still draped loosely around her waist, the sugar bag in his other hand.
"Well, Firewhiskey would put you in the negatives," Lily says smoothly as they enter the pub together. She doesn't really notice that his arm is still around her until she has to pull away to slide into a vacant booth. Then her cheeks colour ever so slightly and she fiddles with the menu on the table.

"Aw, really?" Gideon asks, grinning a little at the colour on her cheeks. "You really are a prefect. Butterbeer, then?" He is actually a bit disappointed that Lily isn't going to take his offer of Firewhiskey - he's sure the consequences would be most interesting and fun, but maybe we'll try that another time. He slides into the booth, sitting opposite her and not bothering with a menu. He's practically got it memorised, anyway.

"I really am. What can I say, I take my responsibilities seriously," Lily says, unabashed by that. She did recently threaten to get Caradoc expelled for smoking gillyweed on Hogwarts grounds, after all. "Sure, Butterbeer would be nice, thanks," she says with a grateful smile, her fingers moving on to fiddle nervously with the little packets of sugar in the middle of the table.

-can't believe I said he wasn't hungry-
"Well, at least someone does," Gideon says, completely seriously. "Okay, cool - something to eat? Or some sugar?" He adds, seeing her fiddling with the packets. "You know, we could have just taken a bunch of these... But that would have been less fun." He starts pulling a few coins out of his pocket, making sure he has enough for everything - that he does.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Lily smiles and lets the sugar go, taking a proper look at her menu at his invitation. "Well, I could've just sent her a packet a day. But I'd feel sorry for my parents, having to put up with her screeching about all the owls coming to the house all the time. Usually I only write home once a month or so," she says, her eyes on the menu as she considers. "I'm not all that hungry - want to split something?" she asks, because it seems practical to her, and she thinks that just because she's not paying, it's no reason to go ordering everything on the menu.

Gideon grins. "You could have, but it would take her ages to collect enough to make lemonade that way! Also, we should send that sugar together - otherwise, how can I be sure you won't just get rid of it or something? One has to complete one's plans, you know, otherwise there's not point in making them. Of course we can share... How does pizza sound?"

Lily raises her eyebrows and laughs lightly. "Don't you trust me? You're the irresponsible rule-breaker here, not me! I always follow through on my plans, otherwise how could I expect people to take my word for anything? Pizza sounds great - anything but anchovies," she says, pulling a little face at the grossness of the little fishies even though Mya loves them.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Gideon smirks. "I'm just checking!" He chuckles. "And I am not irresponsible - even when I break rules, it is in the most responsible manner possible." He adds, making sure he has his serious face on. Then he grins again, not mentioning that even though AJ hates anchovies, Gideon loves them because he is a teenage boy and will eat just about anything. "Awesome. I'll just go up and order - be right back!"
He stands and walks over to the counter, ordering the food and drinks, and returning with a Butterbeer in each hand. He puts one down in front of Lily. "There you are, Miss," he says lightly, "one Butterbeer." He slides back into his seat. "The pizza will be soon, I think."

Lily just chuckles and shakes her head a little, waiting for him to return from the counter and place her drink in front of her. "Thanks," she says, wrapping her hand loosely around the cold bottle but not yet lifting it to her lips. "So while we wait for the pizza, you can explain to me exactly how one breaks rules responsibly," she smirks, because if nothing else she's sure his explanation will be entertaining.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Gideon holds his bottle too, absent-mindedly drawing random circly patterns on the condensation forming. "Well, obviously breaking a rule - or a law - is inherently irresponsible, so it's more responsibility to others, you see." He begins. "First of all, if people don't need to know, and don't ask, don't tell them. Simple enough, right? If they do ask, better not to lie, because that can be even worse. Also, don't involve random strangers; always ask. Then of course you should avoid hurting bystanders, and generally try to cause mischief with little fuss but maximum impact..." He trails off. He's pretty sure he sounds like a right prat about now, but Lily is still here, so that's a good sign, right? He reassures himself that that is the case. But, just to be safe, he adds one more thing. "By the way, I hope your sister isn't half as gorgeous as you are - it would be wasted on her, I'm sure."

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Lily blinks. "And in all that you still haven't got one good reason why, except for the want to cause chaos and disorder I suppose, which really lends credence to my theory that men really are overgrown toddlers," she retorts, green eyes dancing with amusement. She looks away when he compliments her again, feeling torn between the natural pleasure at being found attractive, and the natural compulsion of loyalty to her sister that will never quite die no matter how strained their relationship is. "I'm probably harder on her than she deserves," she finally says, taking a drink of her Butterbeer to mask her confusion. Mya would do something embarrassing like spill it or choke on it at this interval, but luckily Lily is a lot smoother than Mya and she does neither of those things.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Gideon grins. "Is wanting to cause chaos and disorder so bad? It certainly makes life more interesting, don't you think? Don't tell me you didn't feel exhilarated, rebellious and totally awesome in Honeydukes, Lils." He says emphatically, neglecting to mention the exhilaration he had been feeling was partly from standing so close to her. Then he smirks and flips his hair out of his face, as he hasn't done that yet and it must have gotten in the way at some point. He also takes some of his drink, but for him it's about a third in one go. Still, it's less than usual. "Really? She sounds like a total hag, from what you've been telling me."

"Are you telling me you didn't feel just a little bit sorry for the shopkeeper?" Lily returns, and does not admit that her own exhilaration was as much due to his arms about her waist than the rush of adrenaline from their little foray in Honeydukes. She can't help but let out a little huff of derision at his description of Petunia because, well, he's not wrong. "I know, but she's my sister," she says simply. "And she wasn't always such a witch-with-a-capital-B. She used to have a sense of humour. Maybe if we replace her blood with lemonade, she'll find it again. So are all your siblings as close as you seem?" she asks, because she realises she hasn't really asked him much of anything about himself.

"Well, not really, actually. He did look pretty bored." Gideon admits. Inner!Gid is pleased by this piece of information, by the way. "Well, I'm sure she wasn't at some point, but unfortunately people change." He shrugs. Then he snickers. "Maybe we should try that sometime. On someone else first, to test it out, of course. And yeah, I don't get to see them all that much, but we are really close. Mostly, it's Molly and I and then Ali and Fay - Mol and I also have a Fort we hang out in." He adds casually, hoping she'll be impressed.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Lily shakes her head at Gideon. "You know, I'd insist that you go over there and help him tidy up, but he did look pretty bored, and there's no way I could eat that by myself," she comments as their pizza arrives.
"No, I don't care if we test it on Petunia," she says offhandedly, because she's already pretty much lost her sister so what does it matter if she offers her up for lemonade-related experimentation? "You and Molly have a Fort?" she repeats, a little disbelieving. She smirks just a little as she reaches for a slice of pizza. "Well clearly you don't waste your time caring about what other people might think. I like that about you," she comments, and bites into her slice of pizza.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Gideon takes a slice of pizza for himself - not the largest for a change, just a medium sized piece. "Well, I'm glad to be of service!" He says with a little mock bow. "You do realise that in order to test it out we'd have to do it over the summer? It'd have to be non-magical, which makes everything just a little more complex - I'm sure we could work it out, though." He adds confidently. "And yes, indeed we do have a Fort. We even have our own towers, fridges, and mine even has a spare bed." He adds nonchalantly. No big deal, you know? "And thanks - in my opinion, people who don't appreciate me aren't really worth my time. Why bother trying to conform, you know?"

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Lily laughs, after swallowing her mouthful of pizza of course. "Should I be worried? You seem to have thought way too much about this. Should I be asking your sisters what sort of evil lab exists in your basement back home? So you just... built a Fort because you felt like it?" she asks, a little curious despite herself and studiously refusing to respond to any mention of a bed because Gideon has the sort of cheeky personality that would most definitely have a field day if she gave him an opening there. She nods in appreciation for his words, because she understands about not wasting time with people who are unappreciative. "I know what you mean," she says, thinking briefly of her dead friendship with Snape, and how in the end he had judged her by her blood status before who she really was.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Gideon smiles warmly. "No, don't be worried. I don't think we even HAVE a basement... And yes, we just felt like it. Well, we were influenced just a little, but I think it only enhanced our coolness factor. I could show it to you later, if you like." He adds, kinda sad she didn't give him that opening. Good thing she's clever enough not to. "Aw, what happened? I get the impression you know about losing friends first hand..." He leans forwards slightly and takes another slice of pizza, seeing as he has finished the first one already.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
"So the torture chamber is in the attic then? And best not let a prefect overhear you say you were influenced," she warns lightly, with a hint of an impish grin as she reaches for a napkin to wipe the pizza grease from her fingers. Before reaching for another slice, she pauses to take another drink from her Butterbeer bottle, wondering how to tackle the delicate subject of her ex best friend. "Yeah, you might say that. My best friend was a half blood wizard - we met even before I knew about Hogwarts, he was the one who told me I was a witch, and the weird things I could do were magic, actually. He always told me that not being of magical heritage wouldn't matter, but he was sorted into Slytherin and then if you fast forward five years, you get to the phrase 'filthy little Mudblood'," she explains simply, then reaches for another slice of pizza as if it's of no consequence to her anymore.

"Well, I don't think there's a torture chamber in the attic, but then again, I left Ali home alone, so you never know... And I object to that statement! I never said what I was influenced by - it could have been an artwork!" He grins cheekily at her. Upon hearing her story, he frowns. "Well, to put it bluntly, that sucks. I may be a pureblood, but we Prewetts are of the opinion that everyone matters, and blood has no influence. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with us - we are a little outcast in society as a family, you see." He says seriously, before adding, "I think they're just jealous." He winks at her conspiratorially.

Re: The Three Broomsticks
"Sure it was an artwork," Lily mutters, the pizza forgotten in her hand for the time being and her face growing grave as he explains his and his family's position. She bites her lip, considering for the first time how difficult it must be for Purebloods like the Prewetts who stand for equality over elitism. Then Gideon winks at her and she can't help but laugh. "That's your answer to everything, isn't it? Personally I just think that after so many generations of inbreeding, they're afraid of anything outside their own little gene pool."

Re: The Three Broomsticks
Gideon tries to stay completely calm as Lily bites her lip - now that is sexy. "You know, it pretty much is my answer to everything. Is it a good one, or do I need a new line, do you think?" He asks. "I'll agree with you though - I can't believe cousins get married and stuff. How gross." He crinkles his nose, and then reaches over the table to take her other hand, holding it loosely. Unlike before, when he was spinning her, there is no pretence behind this action. "That is super lame, though. It must have been difficult."
