Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco grinned and winked at her, "I have a better plan." He cast a hovering charm on it that would change heights and speeds. It speed off across the grounds and stopped, letting Max jump for it before moving off again with the black monster chasing it. He grinned victoriously and leaned back to look back at the book, his arm brushing against Pansy's as he turned the page. After two more turns and a few more practiced wand motions he finally reached the end of the chapter. He let out a cheer and flopped backwards. "Done."
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
"Clever, for someone who hates charms and thinks they're pointless." She grinned at him, nudging her shoulder against him. She didn't really react as his arm brushed hers, just kept reading through the chapter, finishing before he did and glancing at the next one. She turned to look at him as he cheered, but he was already toppling backwards onto the ground. She put her book aside and turned around to lay down on her stomach next to him. She looked over at him, knowing he wouldn't be doing any more studying today if he could help it. "All ready for getting an O?"
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco grinned and stared up at the sky. "Hells yeah." He reached over at his bag and grabbed something, pulling it out to see it was a sugar quill and offering it to her. His other hand reached in again and pulled out what he had originally wanted: another bar of bacon chocolate. He smiled and rolled onto his side as he unwrapped it, looking at her. "So are you ready to get an O?" He chuckled knowing that there was no way she would get anything less in any class that wasn't potions.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy rolled her eyes at him a little. She took the sugar quill he offered, flopping over onto her side and then rolling onto her back and looking up at him as she unwrapped the sugar quill. "Thanks." She nodded when he asked if she would get an O, giving him a look that said 'are you kidding me'? "Of course I will. I always do, don't I? I mean, anything but potions. But Granger isn't the only one who excels in this school. She's just the only one who gets noticed for it because she's got a huge mouth that never shuts up in class, and she's one of Dumbledore's little pets." Pansy sneered a little bit, nibbling on the end of her sugar quill.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco shook his head, "Bint. Then again she's going to end up married to a Weasley living in a hut with twenty squalling infants and then her amazing bouncing hand-waving won't do her much good." All of a sudden he was knocked back over when Max jumped over him in pursuit of the toy, his back feet catching Draco and knocking him over, bringing Max down with him. When he realized exactly who he had tripped over Max ignored the floating toy and decided that Draco and Pansy would be much more fun to play with right now.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy laughed at the image of Granger living like that, and then laughed even more as Max jumped on them. She reached out and wrapped her arms around him, pulling her big warm dog into a hug and rolling in the grass, the both of them playfully growling at one another. She let go of him and he jumped up, burying his nose in her hair and licking her cheek, stepping on her a little as he jumped all around. She rolled onto her stomach and wrapped her arms around her head, blocking him out from reaching her face anymore. Her sugar quill had flown off somewhere in the grass, but that was forgotten as Max jumped back and forth over her as if she were a little hurdle in the grass.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco laughed enjoying watching them play. He saw Pansy's sugar quill fall by the way side and get crushed by one of the big black paws. He laughed even harder when she curled up to avoid the large wet doggy kisses. He crawled over and during one of Max's leaps grabbed him and rolled, cuddling the big dog and pressing his nose into the long fur of his neck. He felt Max trying to lick him and getting his hair. Pulling back Draco reached up to feel what damage the dog had done but loosed his grip too soon. Max pushed him back over and licked him again, all over his face and forehead and hair.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy sat up when Max left her, pulled away by Draco who he was now attacking. She smiled, watching them for a little while until Max had gotten Draco pinned down, licking all over his face. She reached over, pushing Max's head away and grabbing the toy, throwing it and watching as the dog, suddenly distracted by the new plaything that was flying through the air. Pansy smiled down at Draco, still laughing, especially at his dog-licked hair. "Hi."
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco flopped back with a sigh of relief when Max ran off again. "My savior." He grinned up at her and ran a hand through his hair, pulling a face at the tacky feel of dog saliva in his hair. "Ewww Pans, ugh." He sat up slightly, "This is so gross," He pulled his hand back, eyeing the shiny film. "How bad is it?"
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy couldn't stop laughing at him, sitting up next to him, facing him. "Oh, it's lovely." She grabbed her wand and waved a cleansing charm over it, getting the dog saliva out of it before she reached over and smoothed it back into place. "Well that's better. I think Max will just stick to being a dog and a four-legged cuddle heater, and certainly not a hairdresser."
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco laughed and sighed with relief when she smoothed it back down. "Thank you Pansy. Thank you so much, and remind me to never let him near my head again." He moved his fingers up to touch his hair and feel it, making sure that she really had gotten it all. He leaned back on his arms, smiling at her. He had to admit that even though she had made him do his charms work it was nice being out here in the sun with her, relaxing and just hanging out in a way they hadn't for a long time.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
"Oh you are so, so welcome. You're just lucky I was here to save your life, really now you double owe me." She smirked at him, reaching for her book again. "We had a second chapter to learn, you know. You weren't finished yet." She smiled, knowing that had probably just busted his bubble. Here he probably thought he'd gotten her sufficiently distracted with Max and rolling around in the grass and fixing his hair, but now it was back to business, as Pansy was known to do. Despite distractions in between, if she had something to do or say, she would continue it when the distraction paused. She looked at him as he was leaning back on her arms, turning around and flopping over to use his stomach as a pillow, holding her book up over her face and using it to keep the sun out of her eyes as she read.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco scowled when she said they weren't done and reached for the book, knowing there was no way he was getting out of this. He has just grabbed his book and lain back down when she put her head on him. He exhaled sharply and looked down at her lying on him. He smiled and lay back, holding his own book up to shield him from the sun. One hand supporting the book the other moved down to gently stroke her hair, playing with the strands as they lay there in the sun. If this was his reward for studying charms then maybe he could persuaded to work a little more often.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy hadn't thought about it, just did it. It was natural. They had always done this, even when they were just little kids out playing in the garden. Pansy would get tired and want to read instead, and Draco was always her reading pillow. Though originally focused on the chapter she was reading, upon feeling his fingers playing with her hair, she blinked and her attention returned to him, a little smile spreading across her face. This was nice, one more tiny step back to normal for them, even if it was just something as simple as this. She stayed right where she was, her head resting on his stomach, his fingers in her hair, the two of them reading their charms homework in peace. Max had flopped down in the grass a little ways off, panting happily from all the roughhousing a moment ago.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco read his book quite happily for a while, or at least as happily as a charms book could be read, his fingers twirling and combing through her hair. After about half an hour and most of the chapter Draco stopped his hand and propped himself up a bit, trying not to disturb her. "You almost done yet?" He hoped she would say yes and he could dump the book and begin negotiations with her to get his new potions one back. Max was now fast asleep in the grass nearby and the charm on the toy had ended a while ago leaving it next to him, one of the large paws half covering it as though to make sure it wouldn't float away while he wasn't watching.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy pouted a little to herself when he stopped playing with her hair. Turning to look up at him, she smiled a little and turned back to her book, making no indication of moving any time soon. "Nope." Not only was she not quite finished with the chapter, but she was comfortable and she didn't particularly want to move from this position for a while. She continued holding her book up over her face, her eyes scanning the pages. Turning a page, she waited for him to either lay back in the grass again or to continue with some sort of argument that they had studied enough by now.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco pulled a face even though she wasn't paying attention to him anymore. There was no way anyone could still want to be working on charms so he poked her in the shoulder. "Pans, come on, you have to be done soon." He was getting bored now and put the book down next to him so he could focus on distracting her. "You know all this and you'll get an O anyway so why don't you stop now." When she didn't seem to be paying attention he poked her again, "If you're not going to stop at least give me my book back."
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy did her best to ignore him, though every time he poked her shoulder she scooted away a little bit. Finally she closed her book and turned to look at him, putting on her best annoyed face. "Fine, if you would like to stop studying, what do you suggest instead?" She dropped her book into the grass and crossed her arms across her stomach, staying right where she was as she looked up at him, waiting for his answer.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco looked thoughtful for a moment, his hand returning to her hair now that he had her attention. Looking down at her he smiled and flopped back down onto the ground so he could no longer see her, "I don't know. I'm bored." He traced his fingers down through her hair, pulling it over her shoulder to fiddle with the ends. "Wanna go for a run?"
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy's smile returned once he started playing with her hair again. She laughed slightly when he said he was bored, staring up at the sky and waiting for him to suggest something, as she was perfectly fine just staying right here with him like this. She turned to look at him for a minute, but didn't move despite the fact that his idea of what to do would eventually require her to do so. "Yeah, we could run if you want. I haven't been in a while and its really nice today. I think Max might skip out though."
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco turned his head and looked over at the lazy dog. "Yeah well he can stay here with our stuff." He tugged on the tips of her hair one last time and wriggled slightly until her head fell off him and he sat up properly. He grabbed his wand off the pile from next to him and flicked it, transfiguring his clothes into shorts and a tshirt, jeans not being the best things to go for a run in.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy whimpered slightly as her head fell off his stomach, but she sat up as well and grabbed her wand, changing her jeans into shorts and her nicer shirt into a tank top. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail and secured it with an elastic she found in her bookbag. "Ready?" Without waiting for him to answer, she took off toward the lake, headed for her usual trail that circled around part of the lake and through much of the Hogwarts grounds.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Draco grinned and jumped up, easily catching up to her and keeping pace as they headed of around the lake. Normally he took a different route around the forest but it seemed she knew this way better so he let her take the lead. "Have you been running a lot lately?"
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
Pansy continued along the trail, because it's an awesome one with a great view of the lake and it circles through an awesome field with really really tall grass and out behind the quidditch pitch, behind some cliffs she hadn't known were nearby, and then back toward the forest and the lake, basically a lot of little hidden places she hadn't seen before or found even on her explorations in her younger years. "Yeah, sort of. Max needs exercise the bigger he gets and I had to do something to occupy my time when you weren't taking it all up." She smiled at him a little, though running had sort of been her way to forget about him at first, and then to think about him and contemplate what the hell she wanted with him once she'd asked for a few weeks to figure it out.
Re: Somewhere by the Lake
That sounds like a really nice running path. He grinned at her and ran a little faster, forcing her to pick up the pace slightly to keep up. "Well I bet Max loves having a running buddy, and if you're any good at this then I think I will too." He grinned at her and looked to the side as they passed some of the cliffs. Weird, he'd never known about those before. He hadn't been running as much lately, spending more time on the pitch than on the grounds, but it was still his favourite non-quidditch form of exercise.
