Somewhere by the Lake - Page 23 Empty Re: Somewhere by the Lake

Post  Remus Lupin April 22nd 2011, 1:06 pm

"It is a bit much. I suppose I could handle it on occasion, it's just the loudness that gets to me." Remus shrugged. "In general though, I just naturally prefer smaller groups of people and quieter locations. And..I suppose I could swim more often but...I don't know. Maybe I'll stick to watching along the sidelines for now."

Amethyst doesn't even know what she's writing about right now cause she's half asleep. So...yeah. Lame post is lame.

"Right, with your very sensitive hearing," Hermione agress, a little frownline of thought appearing between her eyes. "I can understand the preference for smaller groups and quieter locations, though," she says easily. "Doesn't seem like much of a reason to deprive yourself of something you enjoy, though," she comments, her hand accidentally brushing against his as they walk along the shoreline.

Remus doesn't even have to look up at Hermione's face to tell she's doing some heavy thinking. He really needed to be more careful about what he was saying. "I suppose I could...try swimming more often." he shrugs. His face goes bright quaffley when he feels her hand accidentally brush against his, but he manages not to flinch away from the contact this time. He didn't want to offend her again like he seemed to have done the last time she touched him. Not just that...he couldn't deny the fact that he might have enjoyed it just a tiny bit as well. And for one crazy moment he even considered reaching out and taking her hand in his, but then he thought about how forward that was and how awkward it'd probably be afterwards and...did she even have a boyfriend? Like...what if some big, strong, scary guy came out of nowhere and tried to beat him up or something for spending time with her? Oh my. Why was he even worried about this anyway? They were just friends and Remus had never really had any feelings for girls. It was all very confusing. He was so busy being lost in thought that he had sort of forgotten that he was talking to someone. And he wasn't watching where he was going either. Oops.

Somewhere by the Lake - Page 23 Empty Re: Somewhere by the Lake

Post  Mya Lupin April 23rd 2011, 2:16 am

The back of Hermione's hand tingles slightly as it brushes against Remus', an odd sensation that seems perfect and familiar somehow, but completely foreign all at once. She's reminded suddenly of Viktor for half a second, but does not have time to dwell on the connections her brain is making because Remus is apparently so lost in thought he's not looking where he is going, and is about to trip over a large rock. "Careful," Hermione warns, grabbing his elbow to halt his progress before he can stumble and hurt himself. Mya is wondering how these two will ever survive; they'll both be so caught up in their own thoughts or a discussion about a book and one day they'll walk right off the end of the dock or something. Uh huh.

Oh my...that would be unfortunate. Not seeing the end of the dock and then all of a sudden walking right off...that makes Amethyst giggle. And she's on her meds right now so that's a lot of giggling. Remus blinks in surprise when he feels himself suddenly being pulled back from the elbow. He stumbles back slightly, bumping into Hermione by accident. "OH! Sorry. So sorry...oh." He looks down at the rock. "Thanks, I didn't even see that." His face is burning up, going another lovely shade of quaffley.

Crap I forgot to actually post. *fails*
Hermione's hand still rests on Remus' elbow, she feels him stumble into her slightly ad tightens her grip to be sure he doesn't fall and take her down with him too. "It's alright," she says, smiling reassuringly. She sees his blush, and finds herself oddly blushing too. "I know what it's like, to have so many thoughts in your head that you can't see the path under your feet sometimes."

"It's easy to get lost in thought, isn't..." Remus sighs, his face going even more quaffley when he realizes her hand is still gripping his elbow and he still hasn't pulled away from her yet. "Er...but I do try to talk about what I'm thinking more often now...my friend gets on my case about that all the time. He says it makes holding a conversation with me difficult cause I'm always thinking about everything rather than talking about it. It's just..hard to share what you're thinking or feeling about sometimes." You never know when you can honestly trust someone or not, and there's only so many times you can get hurt before you just give up and stop trusting people completely unless they can really prove you otherwise...and even then... The sad thoughts made him feel slightly sick and he bit his lip, finally pulling himself away from Hermione's grasp on his elbow. "Thanks for making sure I didn't trip on that rock. How embarrassing would that have been?" he gave a weak chuckle, watching the ground in front of him.

"Too easy," Hermione agrees softly. "But I think what people don't understand is that when you speak more than you think, the things you say can cause a lot of damage." She drops her hand as Remus pulls away, wondering at that sudden sad look that flashes through his eyes. "And you're welcome. Never mind being embarrassed, I would've just worried you'd have hurt yourself! Erm, should we start heading back? It's getting late, I suppose..."

Oh, ideas! Yay! Amethyst needs to get something to eat cause she should be taking her meds soon...otherwise they might not wear off by church tomorrow and suddenly laughing during the service might just be frowned upon.
"Absolutely true." Remus agrees, remembering the hurtful comments Sirius would say around him, without even thinking, back before he'd really known that Remus was gay. "And I really wasn't worried about getting hurt. I've tripped on things a lot before so I'm pretty used to it." He shrugs. Taking notice of how everyone else outside seemed to be heading back into the castle, Remus nods in agreement with Hermione. "Yeah, it is probably getting late. May as well head back inside. Thanks for walking with me." He adds quietly as they turn around to head back inside.

Well, it might not go down very well... but I would be amused >.>

Hermione shakes her head almost fondly as Remus waves off the concern over his tripping and potentially hurting himself. "Well, I would worry just the same. And I feel like it should be the other way around, somehow - I should be thanking you for walking with me," she tells Remus as they change course and head back to the castle.

I am picturing it and am very much amused. XD

"Well, walking with you was a lot of fun." Remus admits, smiling lightly. "We should do so more often. Though I would kind of feel like I'm betraying our dear library...but I'm sure it understands. After all I do abandon it a lot of time during the warmer weather to read outside anyway." He shrugs, laughing.

Hermione chuckles. "I believe that as long as the books are getting the love they deserve, our dear library will be more than happy for us to spend some time outside on occasion. I like spending time with you," Hermione adds, her voice little more than a whisper. "So I think we should definitely do it again sometime."
And then they walk into the castle together, still talking, and Amethyst can post for the next scene if she'd like and I will post as soon as I can? <3

Bea hummed to herself as she strolled down to the lake. It was a nice afternoon [pretending it's earlier just because it seems unlikely that they'd be outside later]- warm with a nice breeze. She stopped before the edge of the water and sat down in the shade of a tree, fiddling with the grass as she continued to hum to herself.

Luna skipped along the edge of the lake with her cork necklace bouncing around her neck. She noticed another girl sitting in the grass, humming to herself, and deciding to join her because the Hufflepuff looked rather friendly. "Hello," she greeted as she stopped in front of the blonde and sat down next to her. "I'm Luna."

Bea's head popped up when someone addressed her. Her eyes, which had been glazed over as she was lost in thought, quickly cleared and glinted with the excitement of meeting yet another new person. "Hello!" she said, smiling up and the girl from her spot in the grass. "I'm Bea. Would you like to sit with me?" she asked.

"Hm?" Bea shifted herself ever so slightly so she was facing this new person- 'Luna,' she reminded herself. "Oh. Just enjoying the weather. The grounds are so gorgeous. I always take every chance I get to spend a little time out here between or after classes," she said, her smile toning down just a bit. She glanced at her hands in which she held a chain of clover flowers then back up at Luna. "So what brings you down here?" she asked, tilting her head curiously.

"Me too! I love spending time out on the grounds," Luna agreed. She glanced down to see what Bea was holding, smiling as she realized it was a pretty chain of flowers that Bea had probable made while sitting out by the lake. "Just taking a walk and exploring the grounds since it's so nice out," she answered simply. "What's that you're holding? Did you make it yourself? It's very lovely."

Bea looked at her chain of flowers again. "Oh." She smiled up a Luna. "Thank you. It's just a- something I do without thinking. I used to make loads of them with my sister," she said. With a little fumbling, she connected the ends. "Ah! Now it's a crown! Would you like to have it?" she asked, with a grin.

Luna's eyes brightened as Bea offered her the flower crown. "Really?" She looked down at the flower chain, then back up to Bea's smiling face. "I'd love it! It's very pretty, but I feel like I should give you something in return." She glanced down at her cork necklace. "Would you like one of these?" she asked, gesturing to the charm around her neck.

"Oh yay!" Bea exclaimed and put the chain on Luna's head before she heard what the other girl was saying. "Oh. I'd love a- a- is that a butterbeer cork necklace?" she asked, widening her eyes as curiosity took over. "I like it! Is the cork significant? Is it just a regular butterbeer cork? Where did you get this? Or did you make it?" she peppered the other girl with questions.

"It is! I made it myself. My dad taught me how to make them when I was little," she replied. "It's actually a charm. Keeps away the nargles," she explained in a hushed tone. "They're easy to make! I could even teach you how, if you'd like."

Luna beamed, pleased to see that her new friend liked her charm necklace. "Nargles," she nodded. "They're little creatures that live in mistletoe. They're quite the talented thieves, and they'll steal your possessions if you're not careful."
