He had too many layers. He was such an onion. [I'm sorry. I was watching Shrek recently. I had to.] The kiss on his cheek had relaxed as Lily had hoped, and he leaned on her shoulder, glad to be close to her. "He's one of my closest friends. He's just going through a rough time right now," he said with a frown, thinking of Draco's obvious misery. He still hadn't received a response from Pansy; if she didn't reply soon, he'd have to hunt her down. They needed to talk, and soon.

"Alright then, if you're sure." Lily gently ran a hand through his hair. "I just...I don't want you to have to deal with people in your own House, if they're anything close to your friends....calling me names."

Severus took her hands in his, and kissed her lightly on the lips. "Lily, I would never let anyone speak about you like that. And people know better than to mess with me by now. If anyone dares to talk about you like that, I can assure you it'll be the last time they speak of anyone in such a manner," he said sternly, giving her hands a slight squeeze.

A smile crept across her face as she lost her worry with his words and kiss. "I believe you. I guess I just needed it confirmed...It's nice to know I've got someone one else helping me stand up for myself. I mean, I knew you wouldn't like it if someone happened to call me...you know. I just wasn't positive of how..strongly opposed or defensive you'd be."

[I don't know whether I should have Lily fall asleep here or head back to the castle. Any preference relating to what Sev'll do after this conversation? I'm only on for 45 minutes more...at the most.]

[I will be leaving soon as well, so yeah, we best finish this. I had him post that he went to his dorm so I suppose we should leave soon.]

Severus sighed. "Lily, I've told you before. The day I said that was one of the worst things I've ever done. Rest assured, Lily, that I would stop at nothing to defend you. There are some foul, loathsome people out there," he said, clenching his fists. From what he'd heard about Gellert Grindelwald, he already couldn't stand him, and he hadn't even met the guy yet. Softening his tone, he smiled at her. "Don't worry. I'm here. For now and for always, as long as you want me."

Lily grinned, and stood up, but not before pressing her lips to his in a kiss for a few moments. Still holding his hands, she pulled him up with her. "We should be getting back to the castle...come on." She smiled and began walking back.

Severus smiled and headed back into the castle with her, giving her a kiss goodnight on the cheek before they went their separate ways.

Lily walked back down to the lake, standing and leaning against the tree, thinking about Hermione and Remus. It's all so soon...my best friend, aside from Sev, but he's a stop up from that now...but she'll be married in a little over a week, and in a few months...she's going to have a baby. Wow...and i'm planning most of the wedding, and will probably babysit....Sev won't be happy, but they're my close friends. Somehow, I don't think my thoughts will be clear for a while.

[Wait. Did we figure out how Sev is going to find out about all of this?]

Severus sees Lily and runs down to the tree to tackle hug her. Holding her tightly, he kisses her on the cheek. "Uh. HI!"

Lily let out a small shriek as Sev appeared, then burst out laughing as he held her tightly and kissed her cheek. "Well, SOMEONE'S unusually hyper!" She couldn't help but giggle at his enthusiasm, though her mind was still lingering on how to break it to him that she was planning the wedding of, and was going to be a babysitter, for his ex-boyfriend and his enemy/fiancée.

"I'm glad to hear that, Sev. You make me happy too...but..." Lily paused, unsmiling, and glanced away from him while she took a deep breath, then met his eyes. "I've got news you won't like. I'm a wedding planner, and future babysitter. For Remus and Hermione." Her expression showed her worry for his reaction, and she instinctively moved a bit away from him, as well as she could, for fear of his reaction.

Severus stared at her blankly, trying to process what she had just said. A wave of nausea overtook him and his mouth felt dry as he looked at her wide eyed. "Uh, come again?" he said weakly.

"Er..um..." Lily paused, not knowing what to do. "I'm...wedding planner...and...eventual babysitter... for....for Remus and Hermione. " She wanted to tell him not to worry, but she didn't know how he would take the news when the shock wore off...if he's be sad, or just furious or...what. So she waited for it to sink it.

Severus continues to stare at her blankly, feeling weak at the knees. "I think I need to sit down," he mumbled, sliding down against the tree and looking rather sickly. "He's... they're getting married? And what do you mean, eventual- oh Merlin. You can't be serious," he says, looking at her in shock.

Lily immediately sat down next to him and put her arms around his shoulders. "I knew you wouldn't like to hear that...but i'm completely serious, Sev. " Remus Lupin and Hermione Granger are getting married and will be having a baby....nope, no way to take that news in immediately. Probably why I keep repeating it to myself...to let it sink in. She ran one hand though his hair, hoping it might somehow help to keep both of them calm.

Severus stares at the ground in silence, trying to figure out what he even felt about this. Lily's arms around him and her fingers in his hair were a small comfort as he tried to digest the information. "When?"

"They're...getting married a week from Tuesday, I believe. Planning has been a bit crazy because of it...but I don't mind. They are a few of my closest friends..." Lily's voice dwindled, seeing his lingering shock. I wish there wasn't so much between them...Sev shouldn't worry about Remus now. He has me...even if he and Hermione hate each other after so much between him and Remus....he has me.
