*Her expression twitches, and it's probably only some distant, lingering respect for the fact that they're in the Library that stops her from screaming at him.*

How dare you, Remus Lupin. You've treated me as if I'm nothing for the last time.

*She knows her cheeks are probably pink with the rush of blood to her face, but she feels eerily, icily cold and it drips through the acid tone of her voice*

Just wanted to give you my congratulations. I hope you and your new boyfriend are very happy together.

*Her expression wavers and almost breaks*

Why didn't you tell me yourself? Am I really worth so little to you that you don't care I had to find out through idle gossip?

He panics only slightly, so she had found out. How? Unless..well Dee knew so maybe she'd let something slip. Well fine. At least he hadn't had to say it himself. He would have...though he wouldn't have been able to handle the look on her face. The way she was looking at him now...the way she sounded when she spoke to him.
"It only happened yesterday. It's not like I would have just started running around telling every person I saw." He didn't allow any emotion to enter his voice as he spoke. He didn't want her to hear the hurt he was feeling, the anger (which was mostly directed to himself), and the longing he had to hold her. The bunny's ears kept poking him in the face and he tried to gently push them aside.

He gritted his teeth wanting to say a lot of things but knew that he shouldn't. He wanted to tell her that this was all ridiculous, that he wanted things to go back to the way they used to be, that there was this void in him that only she could fill but he kept quiet knowing she didn't want to hear any of that right now...or maybe even never. He wanted to tell her about the dream he'd had last night and the one he'd just had a bit ago before she'd came in; she would understand and, before this whole mess happened, she would have comforted him for it, but not now. He sighed and pet Flower so he could restrain himself from reaching up and wiping away the tear that had slid down her face. "Lily fell the other day and hurt herself. She's in the hospital wing still I think but she's ok now."

*She's so busy trying to keep her grief from consuming her that she doesn't notice any of his. She only sees him sitting there, lazily petting his rabbit as if he hasn't a care in the world. She grits her teeth*

The other day!? And nobody thought I'd like to know that my friend was injured?

Remus was feeling terrible and could hardly keep his eyes open anymore he was so tired. He didn't want to keep talking to her either while it just kept making him sadder. He placed Flower on his shoulder and stood up holding the books he'd been trying to read. "I only found out about it yesterday myself when I took Dee to the hospital. Lily's still there probably so you can go visit her. Now if you don't mind I'm going back to the dorm to sleep." he spoke directly and to the point so he could get out of there as soon as possible. He walked away, putting the books back in their proper place, then left the library cursing himself for letting the tears flow down his face again.

Dee smiles. "Really!?" Dee jumps up and down until Madame Pince gives her a glare. "And you liked him for a while, didn't you?"

*She squeezes her eyes shut tight against the sight of him walking away from her once again, silently berating herself for not leaving first, for allowing herself to yet again be summarily dismissed. She takes a few seconds to recompose herself and sets off for the Hospital Wing*
