Cormac knew the small talk was over. He wanted to be friends still with Reg but it wasn't an easy thing to explain. "Well, do you remember the day at the owlery when you told me you were gay?"

Regulus looked at him, wondering what the hell Cormac was smoking, and whether he could have some. "Cormac, if I make you so happy when you see me, then why have pretty much every single one of our encounters since that day ended with you getting punched in the face, or storming off? You're right, this doesn't make sense. You don't make any sense at all!" he says in frustration, burying his face in his hands.

Regulus sighs and stares at Cormac, at a loss for words and completely clueless as to what to do or how to respond or what he even thinks about any of this. "Cormac... I... how do you expect me to respond to this? What are you trying to say? Because my head hurts and I have no idea what you're talking about and none of this makes any sense and it's making my head ache and my stomach feel funny and I need this all to stop." And all I want right now is for none of this to have ever happened and for you to be my friend and for me to be back in Viktor's arms which is where I belong.

[SORRY. I was at dinner and then VIKTOR WAS FLIRTING WITH CEDRIC so I debated changing my response but then decided THAT REG DOESN'T KNOW AND IS TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH VIKTOR so I kept it.]

Regulus gaped at him in a mix of shock, horror, and disgust. "You- wait- like- wait- WHAT?!?!" he exclaimed, looking thunderstruck. "But-you- I- Viktor- Oh Merlin," he mumbles, burying his face in his hands again. "Cormac- I- I'm sorry," he stammers, forcing himself to look at him between his fingers. "I... I don't know what to say. You know I'm with Viktor, you know that I love... I can't... Shit, Cormac, why couldn't you have just told me sooner!?" he exclaimed, hiding his face again. He felt terrible, awful, and sick to his stomach. Why, why, why did Cormac have to feel like this? Or if he did, why couldn't he have just told him before, months ago, before Viktor? Then none of this horrible mess would exist. He has to fight the urge to run off and find his way into Viktor's arms, his safe, protective arms, the only arms he wanted to be in, ever. "I'm sorry. I mean that, Cormac. But I love Viktor."

Regulus stood up as well, looking at Cormac sadly. He didn't want things to be like this, he didn't want to hurt someone else; hurting Dee was bad enough. "Cormac..." Regulus reaches up and pulls Cormac into another combusting awkward turtle hug, and the turtles cry for the loss of another one of their beloved friends thanks to Regulus Black. "I'm sorry. I am."
