He smirks a little at Scorpius. "Look, dude, I understand completely if you want to make yourself look good here. D'you want me to step back? Go to my dormitory? Agree with you on the chips front? Lemme know, because I feel now as if you just look pretty idiotic." He glances over at Dee. "And I'm not gonna deny the crazy thing. But I'll tell you a secret, Dee, all the best people are."

"I honestly couldn't give a fuck about what kind of chips you like. You're the one that hopped into the conversation," Scorpius said with a laugh. "And you are free to go wherever you want, doesn't really matter to me."

Faye entered the common room and glanced around the common, examining the small clumps of people and hoping to see Penny. Eventually, she gave up and turned to Scorpius, "Have you seen Penny?"

"Alright, thanks!" She smiled back at Scorpius and turned to leave, but stopped when she heard Gellert's voice. She stiffened and forced a faint smile, "Oh. Hi," she muttered in response. She glanced between the two, "Talk to you guys later," she said, rather quickly, before running up to her dorm.

Scorpius watches as she leaves before turning back to look at the fire. He sighs out of boredom. Where was everyone?

Faye slowly made her way down the stairs that led to the girls' dormitory. Her insides seemed like they were tied into knots and her head was spinning. She stared at the floor ahead of her, unsure if she had lost her best friend or if they were simply fighting. She made it to the second to last step before she collapsed and ended up sitting there. Her legs moved instinctively to her chest and she wrapped her arms around her knees.

Scorpius looks up from the paper he had been reading when he heard a sound near the staircases. He doesn't see anyone enter the room, and his curiosity causes him to stand up from the couch and glance over. He freezes when he sees Faye sitting at the bottom of the Girls' Staircase with her arms wrapped around her legs. Unsure of how to exactly comfort an upset girl, he hesitantly come moves forward before sitting down on the bottom step below her. "Faye," he whispers, recalling that she had been searching for Penny before. "What happened?"

Her head bows and she rests her forehead on her knees. She knew that Penny would be angry, but she never expected this. After such a good couple of days, she didn't know what was going to happen to one of her only friendships. Her head lifted when she heard someone move to her and she froze. She didn't like showing anyone when she was upset. There, on the steps, sat Scorpius. She probably looked like a mess in his eyes and she wanted to turn and run right back up to her dormitory, "I - I told Penny about everything," She laughed, but it seemed more cynical than joyous, "Needless to say, she wasn't - " Faye choked and turned her face away from Scorpius, thinking about how stupid she must look.
