Scorpius doesn't say anything, for he knows that no words he would say would help ease the pain that Faye is in. He slides on the step so that he is sitting right below her, and then envelops her in a hug. "I'm sorry," he whispers slightly pained. He thinks for a moment, and realizes that Penny is the only girl that Faye had ever really mentioned being friends with. He knows that it's difficult to get her to open up about herself and let other in. Feeling her resist when he pulls her into his arms, he tightens his hold around her.

Faye watches him move towards her and wished she had the strength to move away, to push her weakness away. His arms encase her and she struggles to break free, accidentally allowing a few tears to fall down her cheeks. Faye had never done well with girls. They hated her for the way she acted and her carefree attitude about boys. Penny was the only person she'd met who had accepted her and agreed with her views on almost everything. When she comes to the conclusion that she may have lost the only girl friend she'd ever had, she stops her struggling and leans into Scorpius, curling against him. She gives in to her emotions losing the power to hide them anymore.

Her struggling continues for a moment and he murmurs, "stop fighting." When her actions finally cease, she curls against him and he feels himself loosening his grip around her. He begins to feel inexplicably guilty for the situation. If he had never slept with Penny in the first place, this wouldn't have happened. If he had never opened his mouth and told Penny that he was thinking of Faye, this wouldn't have happened. If he had never been such a fucking arse, none of this would have happened. He continues to hold her, using his thumb to trail along her cheek to wipe away the tears that begin to fall.

Besides Faye's slightly audible sounds of sadness, the common room remains quiet. Penny didn't deserve to be her friendship if she was going to end it over this one tiny thing. Especially, when she had confessed feelings for someone that Faye disliked as much as Penny disliked Scorpius. If Penny decided to hate Faye for finding someone who made her happy, that was her problem. Her opinions on girls had been right. If something didn't go according to a stupid, invisible 'code', the world seemed as if it was about to end. You go on and I'll be happier. She repeated this thought in her mind, hoping that if it was repeated that she would believe it. She was ashamed for having to ruin Scorpius' potentially good night with this. She didn't want to be the Debbie Downer. Without realizing, she whispered what she had been repeating, "You go on and I'll be happier..." Her voice trailed off and she bit her lip, unable to stop the tears. She had been so stupid. So stupid.

"Stop, I'm not going anywhere. I have no where to be except with you," he tells her watching her carefully and trying to read the thoughts flowing through her mind. "Why don't we just go up to my dorm," he suggest after a few minutes of silence. "I'm sure Penny needs some space right now and Cormac never shows up in the dorm."

Faye flashed him a quizzical look. The words had been for Penny and she had not realized that she had said them aloud. Even if he didn't realize that, it did somewhat make sense. The guilt from the potential of her ruining his night made her want him to leave her there on the stairs. She bit her lip and looked over at the Boys' Stairway, pondering whether or not she should, as if she had a choice. There wasn't the possibility of returning to her dormitory tonight. Hearing Cormac's name sent a chill down her spine and she shuddered. Penny had feelings for him. She didn't see how that angered me. Unknowingly, her eyes had closed tightly, almost completely ignoring the rest of what Scorpius had said. Once she had regained control of herself, she nodded. The thought of speaking and sounding like an idiot kept her silent.

[Scorpius Malfoy]

He waits patiently, curious of her train of thoughts as she glances from his face to the boys' staircase. Once she gives him a small nod in reply, he places her lightly out of his arms and back on the step. He stands up and offers her his hand to hold, waiting for her to place hers in his. Not only does he offer it as a means to help her up, but it acts as a silent reminder that they are in this together.

The desire to evaporate into thin air sped through Faye's mind. She didn't even think about her movements as her arm outstretched and her hand fit perfectly into his. There was a small struggle when she stood up, her legs still feeling weak. Her hand kept hold of his as the fear of being isolated in her dorm spread through her body. Her eyes darted to Scorpius and she gave his hand a gentle squeeze, trying to show that she was grateful for everything he was doing for her.

[Grrrr...*tries to not think of HSM right now*]

His grip remains on her hand as she begins to stand, and his other hand shoots out and grabs upper arm to help steady her as she stands. He felt her give his hand a gentle squeeze before returning the gesture immediately and leading them both up to his and Cormac's dorm.

Faye shot one glance back at the Girls' Stairway as they walked up to his dorm, her gaze slowly falling down towards the floor until she turned her head back around and made sure she didn't trip up the stairs.

Penny came into the common room and dropped her book bag by an armchair before plopping down into it.

[Scorpius Malfoy]

Scorpius comes down from his dorm and immediately freezes on the stairs when he sees Penny sitting on the couch.

Penny looks up to see ScorpiASS on the stares. she narrows her eyes slightly "oh, it's you..."

[Scorpius Malfoy]

"Hi," he says cautiously still standing on the stairs. He's afraid to enter the room more, so he remains standing at the bottom of the stairs.

[Penelope Rosier]

"good night?" she asked sarcastically.

[Scorpius Malfoy]

"I can't say it was," he replies shortly. "Kind of somber."

[Penelope Rosier]

"hmm." was all she said before turning away

[Scorpius Malfoy]

"Penny, I'm sorry," he says taking stepping off the bottom step but still keeping his distance from her. "I didn't mean for everything to get so out of hand."

[Penelope Rosier]

"Hm? oh, yea okay whatever" she waved her hand non-chalantly. she quite frankly didn't want to hear his shit right now. noticing he wasn't leaving, she got a bit upset. "Just leave alright? i don't want to hear your fuckin shit right now"

[Scorpius Malfoy]

"Penny please, I know you don't want to fucking hear it, but you're going to have to. Faye was fucking miserable last night, and it kills me seeing the both of you like this. You can fucking hate me all you want, but she makes me happy and I'm pretty sure I make her happy. Please don't hate her for that."

[Penelope Rosier]

"WHATEVER OKAY?! JUST GO AND BE HAPPY OR WHATEVER. i DON'T want to talk to you right now alright?"

[Scorpius Malfoy]

"How the fuck do you expect us to be happy if she feels like shit all the time for hurting your friendship?"

[Draco Malfoy]

Tam walked into the common room and was about to say Hi when she heard ScorpiASS' last words. Silently she hid in a corner to listen.

[Penelope Rosier]

"why don't you let ME" she pointed to herself "deal with that alright? run along now..." she made shooing motions

[Scorpius Malfoy]

"Fine, but don't fucking drag this out," he says stepping forward into the room and heading toward the door. He pauses and turns around. "I'm sorry Penny. I'm sorry for always thinking of her even when with you. It's just...it's always been her."
