I love you too.

*She doesn't answer - doesn't want to think about their parents anymore. There's plenty of other things to think about, anyway. Vaguely she wonders if she should bother writing her parents back, or if she should just let no answer be her answer. She kisses the top of his head and chews her lip.*

So how are we going to do this? Really, I mean. How are we going to live? I mean, I've got a little bit of money saved up and I think if we're careful enough we can make ends meet until we're done with school, but after that we'll have nothing to start out with...

He turned his face to look out over the water, keeping his head rested against her shoulder. Things were going to be quite crazy for a while but they had each other, and their determination, to pull through. "Well, I have a bit saved up too...and hopefully by the time we're finished with school my parents will have come around. They said they'd help us out but I don't want to rely on them too much. What type of career were you looking at anyway? I was planning on either something with books, or teaching..."

I don't know anymore *She whispered.* And I don't want to rely on other people, it's not right...

I'd always thought I'd be an Auror, but I don't think I could do it now, always be worrying about whether or not I'd get home to see my family that night, or ever again. I guess I'd still like to work at the Ministry though - there's quite a bit of job security there when you think about it, and I could turn my hand to anything, really. I'd prefer research, I guess.

Remus squeezed her hand. "You'll be great at anything you do love. I think research would be great for you. And the Ministry is a good idea. ~~As long as Kingsley is Minister of Magic~~" He didn't really like the idea of her being an Auror. He didn't want to think about it, thinking that if she did do that he could get a visit from a Ministry official some night telling him she was... He shook his head a bit then reached up kissing her cheek softly.

*She smiles as he kisses her cheek, the contact sending a little thrill of warmth through her and glances down at his face for a moment and her smile falters. Looking at his face makes her feel comfortable with him, which reminds her of the Marauders' Dorm, and her fight with Sirius. She could never tell Remus in so many words, because he's had enough pain caused by the people who love him for one day, but she's scared to stay there now. She hated the thought, but she was afraid of someone she used to consider a very good friend. She smiles again a little, trying to keep things as light as she can.*

So listen, honey, I've been thinking about that spare dorm room. You know, the one we were going to commandeer and turn into a nursery? And I thought maybe I should move in now and start working on it. Give myself time to get settled and set up? What do you think?

[ok, I have to go to work and suffer through 8 hours of torture! Sad

He looked up sensing there was something else, something she wasn't saying, but he shrugged it off. If it was important she would tell him. "Sounds like a good idea...but you know I'll miss you if stay away from me too long. I can't cuddle with James or Peter at night you know!" He tried to make a joke of it, deliberately leaving out Sirius's name for obvious reasons that I'm too tired to type, but he didn't like the thought of not having her with him every night. Mostly because he had gotten so used to having her there and now because he was so afraid of losing her. Thinking 'what if her parents decide to not let her have her way and they show up here to drag her back home'? It was a ridiculous thought but he couldn't help it. He was too terrified of anything pulling them apart.

I don't know - I'm sure Pete's pretty cuddly! And hey, I won't be far away, you can come visit whenever you like, you know. It's not as if I'll just disappear, honey.

Remus looks at her biting his lip and trying not to laugh. "Pete? Well...possibly. I'll have to ask him if he'd like to join me some night." He joked and kissed her cheek. "I'll probably visit you every night...I'll probably never leave actually. I can't help it, wanting to be with you all the time, you're irresistible."

That's sweet of you, honey, really. But things will be completely changed forever soon enough, and I thought it might be nice if you got to spend at least a little more time with things as normal as possible - staying with the boys while you can and all that. Not that I don't want you with me of course, I hate the thought of trying to sleep without you, but...

*She trails off lamely.*

Remus was pretty sure he knew what else was bothering her now. "It's okay." Placing a finger under her chin he turned her face toward his. He smiled softly at her. "I understand. And if a lot of this has to do with Sirius...I understand what he was saying, and that he cares and he's worried about me, but he's just going to have to get used to this, us and our situation. He won't try doing anything to you cause he knows I'll come after him and murder him. So don't worry love. It'll be okay."

Let's just give it some time, yeah? I don't want to make things worse, so maybe a little distance will help - I'll let you boys take care of it your own way and I'll just try to stay out of his way for a while. I think it's for the best...
