Fred was surprised at first. Mostly by how good it felt. He leaned into the kiss a tiny bit, but pulled away. "Dee.." he mumbled, but didn't really know what he was going to say and just ended up biting his lip. "That was.. nice, " he said, stating the obvious once again.

Dee was upset. Why would he pull away? She felt ashamed, mostly because she liked him so much, and that scared her. She felt something. Something real. And then he pulls away. But he had said it was nice, which left her confused about how he felt. "Should I just go...?"

[Sorry it's taking me so long to reply. I'm working on my research paper at the same time.]

"Dee, I'm sorry," he mumbled, feeling at a loss for words for once in his life. "I just," he paused to reorganize his thoughts. "I just don't want to mess things up between us. I mean, we're so different. Ugh." He shook his head. "This isn't coming out right." He started again, "I like you, but I just- just don't want to move things too fast. Is that okay?" He bit his lip nervously again.

"I understand." Dee was lying again, and she was getting quite good at it. She didn't want to tell him the truth and mess up their friendship as well. What did she think was going to happen? That they would get married and have tons of kids? She sighed and backed up again. "I guess...I'll see you tomorrow then. Maybe...bye." she left quickly and didn't look back, even though she wanted to so much.

Fred's reply caught in his throat. "Bye," he whispered to her retreating form. He reeeaaally hoped he hadn't screwed this up. There were just so many complications. She was a Slytherin; she was Voldemort's daughter for Merlin's sake. How could she like him: a Gryffindor and a Weasley. All the Slytherins thought they were blood traitors. On top of that, she and Dean had been together for a bit and he didn't know how Dean felt about her. In the end, he just decided he'd head back to the common room. He needed to work on some homework anyways. Wouldn't want McGonagal mad at him too.

[Presenting.. -drumroll- Some awkward Free!!!]
Fred walked into the empty classroom, glancing about at the various things on the ground from their experiments. All the gnomes had disappeared. 'Probably got the hell out of here once their bonds wore off,' he thought. With a sigh, he sat on the ground and leaned against the wall, putting his hands behind his head. "Ugh. Why did I have to go and mess things up with Dee," he muttered darkly to himself. He still felt like and idiot for what had happened between them. The hadn't talked for a while.

Dee shoved open the door, finally coming to find her wand. She didn't immediately see Fred in the corner, and leaned down to pick up her wand off the floor.

Fred heard the door open and glanced up. It was Dee. He scrambled into a standing position and cleared his throat. "Um, hey, Dee," he said rather quietly.
