Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco groaned, "Pansy, can you not massacre the food and just eat it please?" He pulled the poor roll for her hands and handed her a fresh warm one. "Just put it in your mouth and chew." He cut up some meat and ate it. Next were the potatoes.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy proceeded to do the exact same thing to the new roll. She just liked eating smaller things, so ripping it up to eat it was what she liked to do. "Hey, it's how I eat. Don't judge." She tore off another little piece.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
He shook his head and served himself some potatoes. "I still don't like it. So had Pince moved all your books? It seemed like you had even more sitting around this time." He wasn't going to tell her to stay out of the library because it would be completely futile.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Yeah, she'd put a bunch of them back. But I managed to find most of them and get some more new ones. I think eventually I'll probably have more dueling books on my table than there are left on the shelves." She laughed a little, continuing to rip apart her food just because Draco told her not to.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco glared at her roll but didn't comment on it again. "How many have you read now? I mean I don't see hogwarts being the supreme authority on dueling books. If you really want to read some good books you'll have to look in our library. You are still coming over at thanksgiving right? That hasn't changed has it?" He hoped that things hadn't changed that much.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy smiled at him at the mention of Thanksgiving. "Of course I'll still come. And the library has enough if you know where to look. You'd be surprised what you can find in those little corners of the restricted section." She smirked a little, but hoped he hadn't seen some of the books she chose to read.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Really? Interesting things then?" Draco reached into her bag and pulled out a book, "What's this then?" He read the title - Cruciatus: Pain and Pleasure. "Pansy. What the hell is this?" His voice was quiet and deceptively calm. Inside he was torn up, what was she doing with a book like this? His Pansy reading this.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy's stomach dropped as he reached into her bag, a little afraid of which book he might pull out. What luck, just the one she hoped he'd not notice. She shrugged. "It is what it says it is." She quickly took another bite to avoid saying anything else yet.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco put the book down between them on the table and looked at it. "Why are you reading this?" His voice was still quiet, "Why do you think you need this?" He turned to face her, concern written across his face, his anger taking second place to his worry about why Pansy was reading books like this.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy looked at him cautiously and chewed on her lip for a moment. "Why not, Draco. I might as well know it, even if I don't intend to put it into practice." She shrugged again and looked away, knowing he wouldn't drop it so easily. "There's no harm."
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Pansy. This could get you in so much trouble and it's not worth it. It's not something you'll ever need and if you really want to study this then do it in the summer when no one can see you. Okay?" He touched her shoulder. "I'm serious Pans."
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Draco it's fine. I'm not stupid. I'm not flaunting it around and if anyone asks, I'll tell them I'm studying it to defend against it." She shook her head, looking at him, not understanding why it was such a huge deal to him. She had as much right to study whatever she wanted to as anyone.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Seriously Pansy, give it a rest. If Pince finds out who knows what Dumbledore'll do to you." He gave her a look then turned back to his food. She had to realize how dangerous this was, she wasn't stupid after all.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"What's the worst that could happen, Draco? I put on the puppy dog eyes and tell them it was purely for educational purposes, understanding it to know how to stop it." She didn't understand why it worried him so much. "It's not like I'm crucioing first years for practice, Draco. It's really not a big deal." Were they going to throw her out of school for it? Give her detention? None of that worried her. She just wanted to learn as much as she could as quickly as she could. She'd already wasted enough of her years at Hogwarts.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco was slowly getting angry now, a place he didn't want to be in with Pansy. Not again. "Look can you just leave it alone. Please," He didn't want her getting in trouble or ending up like their parents with an irredeemable reputation.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Well I'm not the one who made a big deal out of it, Draco. It's nothing." She crossed her arms a bit, feeling like a chastised child the way he was scolding her for just having this book in her bag. She hadn't even read it yet.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Pansy it isn't nothing! Do you want to end up like our parents!? Judged for every move we make because we're 'dark' because they think that we're in the wrong about everything? Do you want that life where you'll never be able to chose what you want because of the ministry looking over your shoulder telling you what you can and can't be!?!? Because if you get caught with that book that's what'll happen. Do you get it now?!?!?" He was furious with her. Why couldn't she just accept what he was saying? He always had a reason dammit and she bloody well knew that. By now he had turned back around to face her again and his hand was reaching up to grab her shoulder. Noticing he made himself put it down again, a look of concern bordering on regret crossed his face, quickly replaced by more of the anger that was rushing through him.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy watched as he shouted at her, feeling even more like a scolded child than before. She saw his point, she understood how their parents were treated, how they were seen by the rest of the wizarding world. It was unfair, and she knew that she could be labeled like they were just as easily. But it didn't mean she liked being reprimanded by Draco just for having the book in her possession. "Draco, I know. I've seen it, I know what that life is like. But don't you think it's getting a little out of hand if you're making this huge of a deal out of it just for me having that book in my bag. I haven't even opened it!" She twitched her shoulder back as he reached for it, more instinctive than anything. She'd become attuned to angry Draco and knew to move away now. Just out of reach and he couldn't accidentally hurt her.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
He saw her jerk back and instantly regretted moving at all. "Look Pans... can you just promise me you'll put it back when you get back to the library? And all the other books too." He couldn't ask her enough and he hoped she understood. Turning around he stared down at his plate, not so hungry anymore. Well this was really bad now.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
"Fine." She agreed, shoving the book away from them on the table. The she picked it up and sat it on the bench beside her, out of Draco's sight so many he would chill out. "Just eat, Draco. I know you're not full yet." She held out a bowl of potatoes to him, hoping he'd take some. If he didn't, then he was obviously still too upset with her.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco took a few and put a couple on her plate then some on his but didn't start to eat them yet. He kept staring at her. Oddly enough what was bothering him the most wasn't the book or even the arguing. It was her flinching back when he raised his hand. "Thanks Pans..." His voice trailed off and he stared out over her shoulder, not looking at anything in particular.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy felt a little uncomfortable as he kept staring at her. "Draco, what's wrong?" She hadn't picked up her fork, having no intentions of eating anymore. She'd eaten a little and was full enough. She wasn't sure about the way he was looking at her. Something was still wrong, but it wasn't the book anymore. She narrowed her eyes at him, watching him carefully, waiting for him to answer her. "What's the matter?"
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco blinked and refocused on her face, "You flinched." He couldn't explain what he was feeling to her, the regret and yet at the same time the anger that filled him. Both directed at himself and at her. Shaking his head he stared down at his plate and started pocking his potatoes around the plate with his fork.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Pansy blinked at him. "Can you blame me?" After what had happened the last two times he had been angry and reached for her, she had seen, and felt, what happened. She had reacted this time to avoid it, not intending to get hurt again. It wasn't like him to do that. She shook her head and looked at her plate. She kept telling herself that, it wasn't like him, but apparently it was. This was the new Draco. He had changed, Blaise was right. Pansy just wished he'd been wrong. She wasn't sure how she felt about the new Draco, and it felt weird to be questioning of she was still in love with him or not after she'd felt that way about him for so long.
Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]
Draco gave her one last long penetrating look then his shoulders dropped and he put his fork down. "I'm sorry." Standing up he walked out of the great hall. It was a wonder she'd even come to dinner with him... that she would react that way was too much for him. He couldn't expose her to that and couldn't believe that he'd ever done anything to make her feel that way. Heading down to the dungeons he headed straight to the lounge. There he could be alone to think.
