Rose leaned forward towards Scorpius as if she were going to do something and grabs a quill from in front of him as if he weren't there. She turned back to her book and continued working until she heard him say, "How far do you think I can push you Rose before you break that silence?" that she finally looked up at him. She raised an eyebrow curiously at him, waiting for him to go into more detail.

"Right," he said, smirk still on his face as he sat in the seat next to her. "It's easy enough...no sounds whatsoever can escape your mouth, no matter what I do. Now, if you do make any sort of sound...I win, simple as that. If you are able to last a whole five minutes with whatever I do...you win. Though, win what...we'll have to work out. Maybe have to do the other's homework for a week?" he suggested.

Rose wasn't one to pass up a challenge. She nodded slowly, though she was slightly nervous about what he was going to do. She pointed to the table they were sitting at, meaning something like, "right here?"

"Yep, the tables fine," he replied, pleased that she seemed to be very much so up for the challenge. He took the quill out of her hand, dropping it on her parchment and then shoving it to the side. Gently holding her wrist, he pulled her up from her chair and had her sit on the table. He stood before her, a smirk on his face then said, "Ready Weasel? I really don't think you'll be able to handle this though," his hand casually resting on her knee as if it was something so casual and normal.

Rose sat still on the edge of the table, frozen with a mix of apprehension and anticipation. She fidgeted with the hem of her skirt, waiting for him to do whatever it was that he was going to do. Rose was determined to make it through the whole five minutes, and she looked up at him, watching him expectantly.

Post  Molly Prewett October 11th 2010, 11:05 am

Molly walks into the Library, trying her best to look like she knows exactly what she's doing there. It hadn't taken her long to formulate a plan of attack once she realised her true feelings for Kingsley, and Molly is nothing if not determined. So, he likes smart, pretty, serious girls? Molly can deal with that. She's a Prewett - she's pretty even on a bad day... well, she's certain she would be if she ever had a bad day, so she's got that part more than covered. But as for smart and serious, she knows Kingsley presumes her incapable of possessing either of those qualities, and Molly is on a mission to prove him wrong. She glances around, and tells herself she is not looking for him. Not purposely. After all, he seems to spend a lot of time in here, and she happens to be in the area too, so doesn't it make sense that it would be natural for her to wonder if he was about?

They may have only had a handful of conversations, and it seems that none have turned out particularly pleasant, but Molly remembers them all. She remembers that the first time she saw Kingsley, he was reading one of those dusty old wizarding law books because he was into law and government and all that stuff. She can handle that. Hesitating once or twice, because she really doesn't know her way around the Library that well and she's mostly working on the memory of their first encounter, Molly finally locates the particular bay of books she's after. Yep, wizarding law and government. That's the one. She stares a moment, overwhelmed by the sheer volume of choice presented to her, before she finally settles on a thick, but not gigantic tome that looks like it could be useful. Law and Justice in the Wizengamot.

Wrinkling her nose a little, Molly brushes the dust off the cover and sits down at a table in the corner, partially hidden amongst the shelves. She shifts about in her seat until she's as comfy as she'll ever be in a stiff Library chair, takes a deep breath, and promptly has a loud coughing fit because she's just choked on the little dust could rising from her opening the cover. Pink-faced from the lack of air and the slight embarrassment, Molly looks around to make sure she's not being laughed at, but the Library still appears deserted. She forgoes the deep breath this time as she flicks the sort of crusty and gross yellowy pages over to chapter one and starts to read.

An hour later, Molly has a gigantic headache and very little gain to show for her pain. She is still adamant about the fact that she's not a stupid girl, but she has to admit she doesn't have the widest grasp of Latin beyond what's used commonly in spell-casting, and this book is full of Latin terminologies she's never come across before. It's all doli incapax and non compus mentis and chartae libertatum and even though Molly can figure some stuff out from the way the words are put together, or from the rest of the sentence, most of it is a complete mystery to her. Still, she persists, having nothing but stubborn determination left, but having that in bucketloads.

After finding the books he was looking for, Kingsley was walking by some shelves when he stops. He'd caught a glimpse of red hair out of the corner of his eye. No, that can't be. Molly was in here studying? And that was definitely a law book she was looking through. He recognizes it from all the times he's perused that particular subject's shelves. Well, she sure was surprising, wasn't she? He couldn't help wonder what exactly she was thinking at the moment - it rather looked like she was struggling through it, but he'd give her points for trying. He wasn't going bother talking to her though - he really wasn't in the mood for a fight. He turned and continued on the way he'd been heading and left the library.

The feeling of being watched creeps into Molly's awareness. She lifts her head, pulling a little face of discomfort because her neck is kind of stiff from being bent over her book so long. There's nobody there when she looks around and Molly frouts a little, shaking the weird feeling off. She decides she's had enough for one day, and packs up. She borrows the book and leaves the Library, still looking around because she could've sworn there was somebody else there.

Regulus walks in after the locker room experience. He makes his way over to the shelves, and starts looking at books. Obviously these books aren't as interesting as the ones he brought from home, but he's not in the mood to be in his dorm. Marcus was in there, wanting to talk about Quidditch and Regulus, for once in his life, didn't wanna talk about Quidditch. He sighed and grabbed a random book in his hands, skimming through the pages as he leaned against the shelf, not really paying attention to the words on the pages. He was too lost in thought. He knew Sirius disliked him. At first he thought it was a sibling thing. That all brothers acted like this. Then he came to Hogwarts. He saw people like Albus Severus and his brother hanging out, and sure, they messed with each other but not the way Sirius messed with him. James probably never avoided Albus the way Sirius did when he was around those stupid friends of his. And now it wasn't just Sirius. Everyone seemed to hate Reg. Even his idol, Viktor Krum, probably hated him. Look at Rad, Regulus had barely talked to the guy and he already pinned him as an awkward loser.
Regulus knew he wasn't as cool as Sirius. Not as popular. Not as attractive. But he was still a Black. He had a few friends. Why was he so easy to pick on? He kept looking at the pages in front of him, no longer turning the pages. It was obvious that he wasn't reading, and it was obvious that he was upset. Really upset. Though he didn't cry. Regulus never cried. His mother told him when he was younger, 'Blacks never cry,' and since that day, Regulus Black never shed a tear. If he couldn't impress his brother, then he'd sure as hell impress his mother and the rest of his family. He'd show Sirius one day. He'd grow up to do better things than just being an awkward loser who ruins everything for everyone.

Post  Ginny Weasley October 14th 2010, 6:57 am

Dominique found that entering the library at this time of the day was definitely the best thing possible. The fact that it was relatively empty and extremely quiet made it much easier to focus on studying. She hated it. Hated the feeling of having to do as well as her siblings and her cousins. If she didn't do as well on her OWLs though, she feared having to face her parents and their disappointment. Family was everything to her, for that was how the Weasleys were. Even if there were times where they didn't quite get along, a stupid fight or endless bickering, the support system and love was still present. It was something that she wouldn't have traded anything for.

Walking further into the library, she began searching through the shelves for a book to help with her potions essay. She froze though when she realized that the library wasn't as empty as she had thought that it was. Giving the boy a curious look, it was clear as day that something was obviously upsetting him greatly. She knew that if she were the one upset, she would want comfort. The trouble was, she didn't know this boy and the fact that he was a boy, meant that he was obviously more reserved about his feelings. She attempted to quietly back away but found that she very ungracefully turned into the bookshelf and sent a book flying to the ground. "I'm sorry," she said quickly, realizing that the book was sure to alert him of her presence. "I didn't realize that someone was here."

Regulus jumped as the book hit the ground. He hadn't realized the girl walk in until that moment. "It's fine," he mumbled quietly, looking at her warily as he closed his own book and put it back on the shelf. He didn't recognize her for the Weasley she was, due to the lack of red hair and the fact that she was actually pretty. No stupid complexion on this girl. "I should probably get going anyway," he said, sighing as he bent over to pick up the book she had sent flying to the ground. "Er- Here." He handed it over to her. "Not sure where you got it from."

"Right, sorry about that," she said, feeling sorry for having disturbed his reading. She took the book from his hand then said lightly, "Thanks, I can be a bit clumsy at times." She bit her lip for a moment, looking at the guy carefully before deciding to through caution to the wind. "I know this may sound completely ridiculous and I'm sure you're going to stare at me with these wide eyes and then laugh in my face about how I'm so idiotic. I mean, I see you're in Slytherin so it's natural to sort of have this hatred for me already. I'm a nice person though, or at least... I think so. Wow, I'm rambling," she said, shaking her head and realizing that she probably scared the guy even more. "The point is...when I'm upset, I like getting a hug. Do you...would you like a hug?" she asked slowly.

And Regulus did just that. He stared at her with wide eyes, though he didn't laugh. He looked down at this feet, feeling stupid for showing his emotions. He hadn't realized that he looked upset, but this girl he'd never met had noticed it. Wait, did she just suggest a hug? Regulus wasn't really used to hugs. His mother certainly didn't hug him. His father- Well, Regulus couldn't even think about that. Of course his dad didn't hug him. Just the thought of it was laughable. And Sirius didn't even like him, why would he want to hug Reg? Though, Polly did hug him that one time, and that was rather nice. But Regulus couldn't just say yes to this girl. People already thought he wasn't cool, so wouldn't this make him even more lame? He sighed, ignoring her offer for now as he looked up at the girl with those big, sad eyes of his. "That obvious, huh?"

She watched him carefully as he seemed rather deep in thought and when he looked up at her with those sad eyes, her heart melted. She had no idea who he was or why he was hurting, but she didn't like it one bit. She looked at him for a moment, wondering what he would look like if he smiled. He probably would actually look like a different person completely for his whole aura would change. "I come from a large family," she said with a small shrug, giving him a small smile. "I'm used to detecting emotions, used to seeing them go from happy to sad rather quickly. I don't think you're weak for feeling this way. If anything, it puts you above half the guys in the school for you're able to express how you feel. Just the fact that you have emotions sets you above."

Regulus pondered what the girl said for a moment. He wanted to believe it, but he just couldn't. Not after the way he was raised. Showing emotions was one of the biggest signs of weakness, so what did that make him? Well, the answer was obvious. But his parents weren't here right now. Sirius wasn't here. It was just him and this girl that he would probably never see again, so where's the harm in one simple gesture that would probably make him feel at least a little better, even if only for a moment. Of course, once he got back to his dorm it would be like it never happened. He'd go back to thinking he was weak for showing emotions like this, but for right now, what was the harm in just giving in for a moment and pretending that what the blond girl said was true? That showing emotions made him stronger than the others. He didn't say anything. He just looked at her for moment, deep in thought, before he eventually took a step towards her and wrapped his arms around her waist, closing his eyes and pretending that she was someone who actually cared about him and would always be there for him. Someone like the person he wished Sirius could be.

Dom is dead. That last line...omg.

She left him in his thought for a moment, hoping that whatever he was thinking couldn't be all the terrible. Though she knew of the stereotypes that came with Slytherin, the boy looked no older than she was and she wondered what in the world could be troubling him so much. Perhaps she was foolish for trying to offer him a some sort of comfort, for by the way that he looked, she was able to deduce that he didn't want it. Dominique was therefore extremely startled when he did move forward, wrapping his arms around her waist. Letting out a soft sigh, there were no words that could have been uttered during a moment like this, just the quiet support. She wondered if he had anyone else to turn to, anyone that he was able to talk to when he needed someone. By the looks of it, it seemed like he didn't, though she knew better than to judge. Her arms remained wrapped around his shoulders, holding him in what she hoped was a helpful embrace. She wished that he wasn't going through anything that was clearly causing him pain. She wished that things were easier for him. "I'm sorry," she murmured quietly, his head close to hers. Though what exactly she was sorry for, she wasn't quite sure, but the urge to feel sympathy for the boy was present.

The girl's arms around his small frame provided comfort for Regulus, which surprised him. Wasn't this a feeling you were supposed to get from family? From friends? And here he was, being comforted by some girl he'd never seen before. He didn't even get her name. If she said it, he hadn't been listening. In fact, they hadn't even had an actual conversation. She just tried to comfort him from the moment she walked over, without making fun of him or teasing him first. He let out a small sigh, not wanting to lose this feeling now that he had it. He was scared that once the embrace broke, he'd go back to being unwanted and lonely again. It was a sudden realization that caused him to break away after their long, silent embrace, with the exception of the apology muttered from the other girl, which brought the smallest hint of a smile to Regulus' face, making him feel as if someone cared about how he felt. But he wasn't thinking about that anymore. He realized what he was doing; he was hugging some girl and seeking comfort in her after talking for no more than five minutes. What would his mother think of that? Regulus pushed away the things the blond girl had said about not being weak, because in his mind, showing emotions was showing weakness. He'd been called awkward, a loser, a whiny brat, but he would not be called weak. Not if he had anything to do with it. And this is why he quickly pulled away from the hug and walked away. Without a goodbye to the kind girl who had almost made him feel happy for a brief moment, though he did stop when he reached the end of the shelves, looking back at her and giving her the smallest sign of appreciation just by looking at her. He'd always been known for having eyes that did the talking for him. And with that, he left the library completely, promising to himself to never let himself show weakness like that again.

They remained in the silent embrace, though time seemed to stand still as she hugged him. Things were clearly not the best in his life and it almost made her feel guilty for what she did have in hers. She complained about the simple things, such as studying, when she realized that things could be so much worse. It was with his sudden removal that she snapped back to where they were, herself moving closer to the bookshelf when he pulled away. She only hoped that the hug had momentarily helped, yet she wasn't quite sure if it had. When he paused at the end of the book shelf, her eyes caught his for a moment and she realized that perhaps he was thankful for what she had done after all. Though it was a small act to her, it could have made a difference to him. Giving him a slight nod and a small, sad smile. Would she ever see him again? She wasn't sure. In a way she rather hoped that she did, wanting to see if things only improved for him and for some inexplicable reason, wanting to comfort him again. She remained where she was near the bookshelf for a moment, then sighed before leaving. She knew she wasn't going to be able to study and figured just heading back to her dorm was the best option.

Luna walks into the library, excited to study with Hermione again because she hasn't seen her girlfriend since the mixer. Her face lights up when she sees the pretty girl looking through the shelves, and she walks over to say hello, ignoring the urge to greet her with a kiss because they're in a pretty public place. Instead, she settles for a soft, friendly, "hello."
