Re: The Apple Trees
"Promise," he said, and looked away, unable to bear her gaze any longer. "Well, if they haven't come running yet I'm sure they won't any time soon. No, I'll be waiting for you, just in case." He leaned forward slightly, trying to take in every part of this moment that they'll probably never have again, looking her up and down then finally meeting her eyes once more. "Just in case."

Re: The Apple Trees
She blushed even deeper. "I don't want you missing out on someone because of me. Besides, I've heard there is this singles party this weekend. You should go. See if you can see anyone. My best friend Parvati is going, she's super gorgeous and sweet." Her blush wouldn't go away, and the thought of him with anyone else made her feel...jealous?
Re: The Apple Trees
"I've heard about that. I'm probably going, but somehow I doubt I'll meet anyone more special than you. I mean, I've seen Parvati around, but . . . ah, who knows?" he shrugged. There was a nagging hope that he would find someone, but there was a solid wall that said otherwise. "Is . . is the party the same day as your date? Just curious," he added quickly.

Re: The Apple Trees
She felt horrible. She was being so unfair to him, and he was being so sweet. She bit her lip. "Uhh. I think it is actually. I'm not totally sure. I only hear a rumor about it. I think it's for all the houses too, so you'll be able to meet some people from other houses." She wanted him to meet someone. She did. Didn't she?
Re: The Apple Trees
Finally, he caught a flash of something in her eyes, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it meant. "I figured." He thought about it, and admitted, "To be honest, I really don't want to find someone else. I just. ." again he stopped, realizing he kept leaning forward with every word. No, he couldn't .. he wanted to.. almost needed to. He bit down hard and turned his eyes to the ground. No.

Re: The Apple Trees
She felt horrible. She knew she should have left a while ago, but something was keeping her here. "Well, do you have any friends that are going? I'm sure it would be fun." She bit her lip and looked down again.
Re: The Apple Trees
"I have Dean," the corner of his mouth twitched. "He ought to get me drunk enough to forget about you. Not that I want to." He looked back up to find her looking somewhere else. Reaching over carefully, he gently turned her face back up to his, brushing her soft hair behind her ear. "I want-," he breathed, almost inaudible. No. "Just .. before you're with.." NO. He could feel his eyes pracitically begging her for it. Just one kiss, before she was gone for what may be forever. That would be all he wanted. All he needed.

Re: The Apple Trees
She stared into his eyes and he pulled her face up. She bit her lip, anxious. She didn't know if she really wanted him to kiss her. The rational part of her brain was saying no, but there was a part of her that wanted to lean in and kiss him. She continued to stare at him and whispered, "Seamus..."
Re: The Apple Trees
It was all too much, he had too, just once. Hearing his name from her lips, he couldn't hold back. Slowly he leaned towards her, hand reaching for the back of her head, and placed his forehead on hers. "Tell me yes," he begged.

Re: The Apple Trees
[Just so you know..there is a huge battle going on in my head...]
She took in a deep breath and held it. The butterflies were fluttering again. The rational part of her brain seemed to be growing quieter and quieter. She slowly let out the breath she was holding before whispering. "I..." She found herself leaning in towards him, without any conscious thought. "Yes.." She was staring at his lips now, anticipating the kiss.

Re: The Apple Trees
Everything seemed to disappear when she said the word he was waiting for. He closed the last remaining space between their lips, and felt a shiver of joy as he touched her sweet mouth. His mouth formed with hers, and he gently parted his lips. All his pain was gone in that moment, and he pulled her closer and held her tighter to him, running his hand through her hair.

Re: The Apple Trees
She let out a low moan when their lips finally met. Her hand shot up to tangle in his hair. She let her lips part with his, and moved along with his rhythm. She wasn't going to deny, this felt good, better than she had expected but still not the same. Finally her rational mind spoke up and she pulled away, her fingers over her mouth. "I..."
Re: The Apple Trees
He froze when she pulled away, mouth still open like an idiot. He wanted more, but held back the urge to pull her back to him but continued to stroke her hair. "No...?" he asked shakily.

Re: The Apple Trees
Her eyes started to water and she backed away a bit. "I...can't." It was barely more than a whisper. She shook her head, trying to make the tears go away. Try as she might though, they began to fall slowly down her face. "I'm sorry." She stood and wiped the tears away, looking anywhere but at him.
Re: The Apple Trees
Seamus watched, her tears forming, her backing away. Everything was starting to crumble right in front of him. He almost felt the ground disappear as she avoided his gaze. "Don't," he whimpered helplessly, rising slowly to his feet.

Re: The Apple Trees
"Don't what? What do you expect me to do. You know how hard this is for me!" Her voice was raised, and she was becoming hysterical. "Gods!" She started pacing, not really sure what to do next.
Re: The Apple Trees
He winced slightly as she raised her voice, but took a hesitant step forward. "I-I'm sorry! I thought maybe..," he trailed off, then stepped into her path. "I get it, okay? It's difficult, and if it wasn't I'd call you crazy. It's wrong for me to ask you to pick between the two of us. I'm sorry if I make you feel like you have to, I don't want you to feel that way."

Re: The Apple Trees
"Well, that's what I'll end up having to do anyways! I hate it! Why did I have to meet both of you at the same time! It's not fair!" She was still pacing, tears streaming down her face. "I..I should leave. I'm not making this any easier for you." She finally stopped pacing to look right at him. She knew here eyeliner was probably running, but she didn't care.
Re: The Apple Trees
"Don't, don't leave," he begged weakly, reaching for her hand and then pulling it back, afraid to make the situation any worse. He couldn't stand seeing her this way, especially when it was all his fault.

Re: The Apple Trees
She saw him reach out for her. She swallowed hard. "Seamus, I'm making this worse for you. I'm going on that date with him. I don't want to hurt you." She tried wiping her eyes again, but it only made her look worse. "I can't hurt you like this. I'm so sorry." She backed away a few paces.
Re: The Apple Trees
His knees buckled when she said she was going on the date, and he tried with all his might not to fall to the ground. "Don't," he continued to mumble, unsure of anything else to say. She was leaving and he couldn't move for some reason, frozen to place. "Don't."

Re: The Apple Trees
The tears kept falling. All she could say was "I'm sorry..I'll leave you alone. I won't bother you. You won't have to miss me." She took another step back, wanting to leave but also wanting to stay.
Re: The Apple Trees
"But I will miss you," he managed to say, stumbling forward and once again reaching for her hand. "I will."

She shook her head. "Don't. You have to forget about me. You have to." She took another step back. "I.." She didn't really know what to say.
Re: The Apple Trees
"I won't be able to, no matter how much I need to," he muttered, growing numb. As she moved back he tried to follow, finding each step more and more difficult to take. He was scrambling in his mind, trying to figure out what was happening and how to stop her, but he couldn't figure it out. "Please, no matter what I'm not going to be able to forget it all, you have to know that. Please."
