"Well, you both deserve to be happy. Mum can be sort of...difficult at times." Dean would have to tell if he passed or not, because he's a little mommies boy. And this post is a fail because I am sooo distracted by the loud people on skype.

"Thanks, Dean. And yeah, she definitely can be difficult." Remus sighs and watches as Kiora yawns and snuggles close to Dean. This post is sort of a fail right now cause I'm quite distracted by the dog and loud music.

"Well. That's what Mom's are for I guess." He shrugged. "Well, you have your own family now to take care of. You don't really need mum anymore. She'll understand that one day, I'm sure. You'd think she'd be kinder, since she doesn't have a daughter of her own."

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
When they reached the pitch Seamus told Lavender to wait as he rushed off to grab a broom and, just in case all went well, the box containing the balls for Quidditch. He returned with his borrowed goods and headed out to an open space on the grounds, as the field was currently occupied. When they found a nice spot he stopped her and placed the broom on the right side of Lavender, pushing the box a bit to the side. "Ya know what do now, I hope?"

Lavender waited for Seamus as he ran off. She sat in the grass and played with her hair. Once she saw him coming back she stood back up. She looked down at the broom as he set it next to her. "Right." She cleared her throat and yelled, "Up!!" The broom gave a half hearted lurch, then lay motionless. She tried again, "Up!" Another lurch. She grunted and shouted, "UP!" Finally the broom flew into her hand. "Woah! I did it!"
Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
"Hey, good job!" he praised, patting her on the back. "I figured ya could do it! All it needs is a little bit of heart. Now, go ahead and mount it." Seamus, not needing to go through the beginner's process, grabbed his broom with both hands and put it between his legs. "The next part's a little tricky if ya don't know how to do it, which is lifting off the ground."

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
She looked at him, a little scared. "Right. Mount it." She swung one leg over the broom. "Now what." She was a little nervous, and didn't want to embarrass herself. She kept telling herself in her head, You can do this! You can do this!
Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
"Right, I'll demonstrate first, then let ya give it a try. You need push off the ground - not too hard or you'll fly off to God knows where - keep your broom steady, try to hover for a second or two, then lean forward slightly and touch back down." Seamus demonstrated this as he gave Lavender the instructions, taking each step smoothly and easily. "Now," he said when he saw her quivering slightly, "ya don't want to be shaking like that if ya wanna keep the broom steady. I'll stand by you, wand out, in case ya fall or shoot off. Not that will happen, hopefully!" Putting his broom down and walking over to stand next to her, he put his hand on her shoulder for support. "Give it a shot."

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
She felt safer once he touched her shoulder. She did as she was told, and pushed lightly off the ground. She then leaned forward slightly as she started to hover. She got a little overexcited and fell to the ground, laughing. "I almost did it!" She stood back up. "What did I do wrong?"
Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
Seamus chuckled as he helped Lavender back to her feet, brushing a bit of grass off her back. "Well, ya dipped a little too much. I'm surprised the broom didn't shoot into the ground rather than kick ya off. Other than that, though, it was perfect! Well, done! 'Ere," he picked up the broom and returned it to her, beaming at her success. "This time instead of tryin' to touch back down, just hover. If ya stay up without much wobblin', I'll join ya."

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
She stopped laughing and grabbed her broom back. "Okay. Let's see if I can do this." She mounted again, kicked off, then leaned forward. She hovered, and did her best not to wobble. Try as she might, she couldn't seem to keep her broom from shaking. "H-h-h-ow d-d-d-oo y-y-o-uu st-st-stop the-e sha-sha-shaking!"

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
Seamus took hold of her broom to steady it, then released as it began to shake again. "It's like balancing on a bike, if you've ever ridden or heard of one. The difference is that you aren't moving your feet and, well, you're not on the ground. Of course, it may not be your fault. That's an old broom and they tend to act up a lot. Still, keep a firm grip and touch the ground with your toes if ya need a bit of help steadying it." He stood back to allow her a bit of room, wand at the ready just in case the broom really was acting up.

She listened closely to what he was telling her to do. She tightened her grip on the broom, and tried to balance herself. "I have heard of a bike, never been on one though." The shaking lessened with her tighter grip, the knuckles on her hands were pure white from squeezing so hard. Finally, her hand started to cramp and she let go , causing the broom to shoot forward.

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
"LAVENDER!" Seamus dove for the broom but it was out of reach before he could grab it. Flinging his arm out with the wand gripped tightly in his hand, he concentrated with all his might and screamed, "ARESTO MOMENTUM!" The broom, now almost a Quidditch pitch's distance away, began to slow but still did not stop. Seamus picked up own his broom, mounted it, and shot off after Lavender. When he caught up to her they were getting dangerously close to the castle walls and, leaping with all his might from the Nimbus to the Cleansweep, Seamus tackled her off the broom. After they hit the ground he turned around just in time to watch the two brooms collide with the wall and shatter to pieces. He looked over at Lavender who was still panting on the ground, grabbed her shoulders and asked wide-eyed, "Are you okay?"

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
She couldn't help but scream as her broom took off flying. She held on with all her might, too afraid to let go. She could feel the broom slow at one point, and figured she gained some control back. She tried pulling back on the broom to get it to slow even more, but nothing happened. Before she knew what was happening, Seamus tackled her to the ground. She stared as the two brooms collided with the castle wall and looked at Seamus, in horror. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she realized Seamus has asked her something. "I'm so sorry!" She meant it to be louder, but it only came out as a low whisper.
Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
"Do not be sorry. Answer my question." Seamus said firmly, fear prickling on the back of his neck. "Are you okay?" In the back of his mind a million thoughts were rushing through his head. Yes, he understood why she apologized, but he didn't care. He now had to explain that he had broken his christmas present to his parents, that was the most distant of his thoughts. The only thing he could truly focus on through the clutter was if she was okay, and that was all that mattered.

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
Her eyes finally focused on his worried face. "I'm fine. Just feel horrible. I promise, I'll buy you a knew one." She really was fine, just a little shaken and her heart was beating a million times per minute. "I'm sorry." She wasn't sure why she was apologizing again, but she felt that she needed to let him know that she felt horrible. "I don't know what happened.
Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
"I don't care about the stupid broom, please don't worry about it," Seamus muttered, his face completely serious for once. "Are ya sure you're okay? I could take ya to the Hospital Wing if you'd like?" He looked straight into her eyes, searching carefully for any pain, but found none. "And none of it is your fault. It was the broom. I should've tested it before I let ya use it."

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
She sat up so that she was leaning on her elbows. "I'm fine. Just a little shaken. Are you okay? I mean you just, like, dove off a speeding broom to tackle me." She looked at him carefully, then realized he practically saved her life. "Oh, and thank you." She blushed for some reason.
Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
Seamus relaxed a bit as she moved. "Okay, good." He flexed his muscles a bit to see if there were any raw spots, and held back a wince as some pain cut threw his shoulder. "Yeah, I'm fine, just bruised," he lied. "You're welcome, it wasn't much trouble. The adrenaline did all the work." He lay down on the grass to take his first breather and think over what had happened before adding, "And no more flying practice for a while, please. That almost gave me a heart attack. Not fun."

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
She stared into his eyes as he tested his body. She couldn't help but notice a flicker of pain cross through his eyes. "C'mon. Tell me if something hurts." She sat up fully now and stared at him. "We can go to the hospital wing if you want." She bit her lip nervously, she really would feel terrible if he was seriously hurt.
Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
He sighed at her worried tone and finally admitted, "Me shoulder hurts a bit, but nothing serious. No need for the Hospital Wing or for you to worry." Mentally he was aware of the small chance that it was dislocated, but that was something he could fix on his own, right? "That was one mad broom, eh? Stupid school brooms are always terrible," he said, trying to change the subject.

Re: The Grassy Plains of Hogwarts
She watched him carefully for here on out. If she saw the slightest trace of pain, she would drag him by the ear to the hospital wing. "Yeah. I guess. And I meant what I said, I'll buy you a new broom. Once I get a job. Assuming, of course, that I pass my NEWTs."
