Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Yeah, yeah come on!" She stood up and left her things there, grabbing Theo's hand and pulling him along behind her as she wove quickly through the aisles of the library, choosing the least populated routes. She pulled out her wand and opened the door to the restricted section, heading toward the back corner. "Just behind these." She pulled out a few books about dark creatures and animals and the like, stacking them on the floor off to the side. Once there was enough of the back revealed, she traced her wand across it and it sprung open, revealing another row of very old looking, though recently dusted off books. "Viola!"
Re: The Library: A Study Table
[sorry my net keeps dying >.<]
Theo looked at the books in awe. "It's...it's so beautiful. These books are ancient! I bet some of these could have been old Salazar's!" he reverently reached in and pulled one out, gently turning the pages. He shivered as soon as his fingers brushed the parchment. "It gives you chills to just touch!"
[I love how i can channel my evil side into this. Lord. I want one of these books.]

[It's fine, haha. ME TOOO. We shall have the awesome books when we take over WWOHP and have our own Hogwarts school of arts.]
"Doesn't it though!" She pulled out a black volume, it's old leathery cover probably fully human skin rather than animal. There had once been golden letters stamped on the front of it, but the gold leaf had long since flaked away. "Look at this one. 'Arts Moste Ancient and Darke'. Some really fascinating stuff in this one." She ran her hand over the cover of it, the texture of it far smoother and different from the other leatherbound books, opening it as a tiny plume of dust shot upward from its pages. It had always done that, as if the book breathed out every time it was opened. Who knows, it might have actually done just that.

Theo's mind was boggled. "However did you find these, and who all knows about them?" He jumped a bit, when the book 'breathed' out, and his eyes were drawn to the calligraphy style script of the instructions.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Well, I'm not sure who else knows about them. I don't know that anyone does for sure, but probably at least one other person or else I probably wouldn't have found them myself. Some of these books were sitting on the floor, so I picked them up to look at them. Of course, I wasn't interested in acromantulas, so I was going to put it back on the shelf when I noticed that line there. See?" She pointed at the slight crack all around the back of the shelf where the false panel could move away. "I pulled the others out and poked at the shelf a bit until I finally figured out how to get it open. Luck, really."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
Theo was utterly flabergasted. "Pansy, i think i should call you goddess instead of queen. What a find!" he again worshipfully (is that a word????) ran his fingers along the soft, age-worn leather. "It's like...it's like old Sally himself led you to these or something."

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Pansy, again would have blushed, but she doesn't do that. "Just got lucky, really. Whoever left these books out lead me to it. I just looked in the right place at the right time though. But it makes me wonder.." She glanced around at the other old shelves full of old books, "if there are other hidden shelves of books around here. I mean, there are bound to be, if there's this little one. This can't possibly be the only one, but I haven't the slightest where to start looking. I'm just a lucky sneak, not exactly a great finder. THANKYOUVERYMUCHDRACO."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
Theo looked around, until his eyes spotted a set of books that looked promising. Waving his wand they slowly flew off the shelf they had rested in, for Salazar knew how long, to float in the air. "Want to start investigating?" he asked, mischief in his voice.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Pansy grinned at him and headed toward the shelf he was clearing out. "Of course!" She picked up a few more books from the shelf, clearing it out a little more so they could peer to the back of it, hopefully finding something promising and hidden since the age of their grandparents.
Re: The Library: A Study Table
Theo grimaced at the first few shelves. "I'm not finding anything, how about you?" There was dust in the air everywhere, and his eyes were watery and his nose starting to get stuffy.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Nope," she coughed, trying to wave away some of the dust with her hand. "Nothing there." Pansy stepped up on one of the lower shelves to get a better look at it. "I don't think there's anything here either. Oh, wait." She reached toward the back and scraped at it a bit, at a piece of the wood that looked darker than the rest. "It sounds hollow, but nothing's happening. I guess that one's just a false alarm after all."
[Not sure! I have to go now for a little bit to go take my math exam, but I should be back soonish, in like an hour maybe?]

Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Oh! Let me see!" Theo crowded next to her, and shook his head. "It's different wood, i think. I wonder if you need a spell to open it?" He pointed his wand at the darker wood, and poked it. Nothing happened. "Or maybe it was just replaced once upon a time."
[Okay! I think they should find love letters. That would be freaking interesting.]

Re: The Library: A Study Table
[Ohhh I like that idea.]
Pansy peeked her head in next to his as he pointed his wand at it. "Hmm. Maybe so. Next shelf up, perhaps?" She climbed carefully up on the next shelf, hoping that it wouldn't break off or send the shelf toppling over. That would end rather poorly, really, if she and Theo managed to knock over a shelf in the restricted section. They'd get lectured for sure, and Pince in her suspicious ways would probably accuse them of doing naughty things back here they ought not be doing. Silly Madam Pince. She looked up on the next shelf, and immediately it was more promising. "Theo, look at this." She pointed at the underside of the shelf just above it, where there was a hinge just barely visible in a crack of the wood. "That's got to swing down somehow, don't you think?"

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Theo stuck his head up and looked at it closely. "It totally does! Okay, now how to open it?"

Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Good question." She stood and pondered for a moment before pointing her wand at the wood around the hinge, mumbling some of the same unlocking charms she'd looked up to use on the other panel. Surprisingly, it worked, and the wood swung down, sending a tiny little chest tumbling out of an opening, bouncing off the shelf and falling right to the floor. "Woah!" Pansy hopped down from the shelf and picked it up, looking it over. It was exceptionally old, carved of very dark wood with hundreds of gem stones inlaid in winding snakelike patterns. There was also a bit of ivory inlay in delicate curls, golden fixtures on each of the corners of the small chest, and a massive lock. "What do you think it is?"
Re: The Library: A Study Table
"No clue, but it's very pretty." Theo fingered the lock. "It's huge, which means it hides a huge secret. I wonder if it's some dark artifact, or maybe a super powerful spell. Or some fantastic piece of jewelry?" He ran his finger along the snaking inlays.
[do we want this to have the love letters, or something else lol?]

Re: The Library: A Study Table
[Hmm. These could be the letters. Maybe they're uber scandalous and dark magic filled or something XD]
"It is..." Pansy looked at the lock, and it was quite formidably huge, probably with locking charms. However, the tiny handheld chest was quite old, and the hinges looked frail enough that her idea might just work. Lifting her wand to point at the hinges, she worked the screws looks until they were out and the hinges could be taken off. Of course, the lid was still sealed tight to its base by magic, but a few combinations of charms should do the trick. Unfortunatley, they did not. "Hm. Any other ideas, Theo?"

Re: The Library: A Study Table
"It's a very pretty box...but...i'm too curious to see what's inside." Pointing his wand tip at the box, he mentally memorised how it looked before saying with authority, "Diffindo!" and watching in satisfaction as the wood of the lid was sliced in half. "I'm glad that worked, my next idea was confringo." Reaching out he delicately removed the contents of the box- a small charm in the shape of a snake, and what appeared to be a bunch of papers.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Pansy gasped softly as he sliced the lid open, holding onto the base as he lifted away the lid and pulled out what was inside. Pansy watched as he held the little charm and the papers, lifting one of them away and carefully undoing its delicate folds. "It's a letter..." She started to read, finding that it was a sort of love letter, only addressed by initials, and quite vague in who it could be talking to. Granted, the letters were old enough to be written by her grandparents or great grandparents, so it wasn't like she would know right away who it could perhaps be talking about. "Who do you think M could be?" There was a gorgeously written M down at the bottom of the letter, apparently the woman's signature right next to a calligraphic heart. "And who would the T be that she's writing to, I wonder?"
Re: The Library: A Study Table
Theo thought for a moment. "McGonogal and Trelawney? Oh gods, my head. The image. No nonono i have no idea." He was utterly clueless as well. "This is so intriguing! An illicit love affair, obviously between Slytherins!" he dangled the charm and looked for any inscriptions on it, hoping maybe if there was one it would help lead them to answers.

Re: The Library: A Study Table
Pansy laughed, but tried to do so quietly since they had snuck back into the restricted section after all. "Well that'd certainly be quite a story. I bet you almost anything there's a fanfic of it somewhere." Pansy sat down on the floor, looking at a few of the other letters. She skimmed through them for clues as to who the writers must be, but they were very good about sticking to only initials for each other and friends. But then there was something interesting. "Theo, look at this. 'My father will disown me because you're a Muggle, but I don't care. It's worth anything, to me.' That's definitely a little scandalous sounding, especially for an older generation of Slytherins that I suppose she must be. 'I saw you riding by on your horse and from that instant I knew that you were going to be the one.' Sounds like she's got it bad."
Re: The Library: A Study Table
[OMG I LOVE YOU I NEVER THOUGHT OF THEM BEING THE PEOPLE OH DEAR DARK LORD YOU ROCK]
"Poor idiot, loving a Muggle! And i bet she's a pureblood too. Bloodtraitor." Theo sneered in disgust. "I wonder if she's one of those violet Slytherins that come along, trying to get us to change from our dark ways. I kind of want to meet her, so i can introduce her to my best friend- the Cruciatus curse."

Re: The Library: A Study Table
[HAHA I'M GLAD YOU LIKED MY IDEA]
Pansy laughed at Theo. "You're probably right. The way she talks about her family, she probably was a pureblood." Pansy picked up another letter, this one more obviously in a man's handwriting. She skimmed it over from 'Dearest M', to 'All My Love, T'. "Looks like he's quite as taken with her as she was with him. Have you seen this one? Talking about how he'd defy her father and his status because she was all he ever wanted? His status though? If he's a Muggle, I'm not sure what he's talking about. Unless he doesn't know she's a witch and he's just wealthy or something."

Re: The Library: A Study Table
"Status? He could be a Lord or something. I want to know how he thought he could defy her father, even if he didn't know she was a witch. A Pureblood family has status all their own, lands, money...even Muggles know we're something special." He tapped his chin with one hand as he held a paper in the other, skimming. "I can't think of any scandal that may have happened in our parent's time. Nothing of this magnitude. Ah!" he waved the paper around. "Listen to this! 'T, my love, I know you may not understand what I might do. But I know, my love is pure, and I know that you love me too. I know this is right. Blah blah blah, Eternal love, M.' I wonder what she did?"
